It isn't BioWare that is greedy, it's EA. Know the difference.

This. Releasing a rushed product due to deadline and budget pressure coupled with poor executive decision making and slicing and dicing said product's story content to maximize profits is all EA's doing. And yet their fall back argument is "Artistic Integrity" and "Keeping the writer's artistic vision intact." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there has been one writer that has stepped forward and defended their work. You can kind of get the sense that there is some fire between Bioware's creative staff and the higher up's from both companies.

there are more companies who are tenfold greedier then EA
THQ [let's put dlc's on dlc's ]
Jagex [has gone downhill/greedy since 2006]
Interplay Inc. [greedy on some title's]
id Software [charges 60$ for a game of 7 hours]
Valve [let's try to rack up as much money as possible]

Things went further south the more time went by. How many DLCs did Mass Effect have, 2? 3?
How about Mass Effect 2? Holy *********** , Batman!
User avatar #67 to #62 - sircool (04/08/2012) [-]
had the same amount of expansion dlc. the rest was guns or outfits or armor. plus, the actual expansion dlc had much much more content then the dlcs in 1
User avatar #69 to #67 - StrayBullet (04/08/2012) [-]
I agree that the DLC missions for ME2 were great, but the weapon and outfit packs were a bit much. At least things were better if you got the game new.
User avatar #63 to #62 - CiaranPM (04/08/2012) [-]
DLC isn't necessarily bad... but all but three of the dlcs were boring and offered nothing to Mass Effect 2.
#20 - TehAwesum (04/07/2012) [-]
******* Origin exclusive. Come on Bioware.
User avatar #54 to #20 - rbrim (04/08/2012) [-]
BioWare has no say in what they distribute to when they're affiliated with EA. If EA can horde whatever money they want, they'll put all their games on Origin.

It's the same with the original Mass Effect, when BioWare was affiliated with Microsoft. There's a reason why they made Mass Effect: Genesis, since no one with a PS3 could play the original Mass Effect to import to ME2.

MFW i heard the DLC to fix Mass Effect 3's ending will be free
User avatar #46 to #31 - RequieminMortis (04/08/2012) [-]
It's not fixing the ending, it's just expanding on the ending. They've already said they're not changing the ending.
User avatar #51 to #46 - rbrim (04/08/2012) [-]
While most people found the ending to be bad, I'm pretty sure most people are pissed off at the fact that there's no closure to anything you've done.
User avatar #52 to #51 - RequieminMortis (04/08/2012) [-]
The only way to fix that would be completely redoing the ending. BioWare's not going to do that and should not be EXPECTED to do that.

If anyone's to blame it's EA. They set the unreasonable deadlines for everything in the first place- had BioWare been allowed to delay development, they would have likely been able to deliver on everything that was promised.
User avatar #55 to #52 - rbrim (04/08/2012) [-]
Considering how they keep spouting, "we're not changing our "artistic vision" that is our ending" I'm disinclined to believe it's solely EA's fault. I only blame EA for the fact that they, more-than-likely, forced BioWare to remove Javik from the completed game so they could sell him as DLC.

And they wouldn't have to rework the ending. The Extended Cut DLC, according to their blog, is just going to add epilogue cinematics and cut scenes that expand on the ending.
#47 to #46 - robotcomander (04/08/2012) [-]
i know but it will most likely be better than the original

It's EA's fault, not Bioware
User avatar #45 to #32 - RequieminMortis (04/08/2012) [-]
This. I don't normally engage in console fanboyism, but Microsoft (published the first Mass Effect) shouldn't have allowed BioWare to be bought up by EA.

I don't get the BioWare one.

Sure, Dragon Age was a bit much (SERIOUSLY, WTF?!), but Mass Effect 3 was just announced to have two free DLCs.

I think you mean EA.
#78 to #75 - anon (04/08/2012) [-]
The Prothean story is a HUEG part of the Mass Effect lore, it's like ripping away a piece of the game that should have been included and then selling it. That's some ****** up ****** business practice there.
User avatar #80 to #78 - obliquezombie (04/08/2012) [-]
Honestly, it didn't do much other than put a perspective on the Protheans.

It was a Collector's Edition-only DLC, at least they gave it out to us an optional buy.
#87 to #80 - anon (04/08/2012) [-]
The whole point of the game is to rescue the galaxy against the reaper threat, using technology developed by the PROTHEANS. A big part of the story lies on the PROTHEANS. It's ******** to exclude them from the original game. They just want more money, stop being a defensive biodrone.
User avatar #88 to #87 - obliquezombie (04/08/2012) [-]
If you'd please stop hiding behind the defense of being "anonymous," I think we could actually have a discussion.

If you paid attention, the technology you used to beat the reapers wasn't developed by Protheans, it was developed my dozens of cycles before them--no including the Citadel, created by THE REAPERS.

I'm sorry I like BioWare and their quality games they dish out.
#92 to #88 - anon (04/08/2012) [-]
The Protheans were still a really big part of the Mass Effect lore, some missions even revolved or concerned the Protheans. it's still obvious that EA is pulling a jewtrick on us by releasing **** that should have been included under an extra 10$ sticker on the day of release on the ******* DISK.
User avatar #95 to #92 - obliquezombie (04/08/2012) [-]
Wrong--that DLC wasn't on the disc. It's a separate expansion of the game, like any other DLC.

Do I think it should have been $10 ******* dollars? Hell no.

But though it's a big part of the lore, so is a lot of the universe. It never goes fully in depth, and it's your choice whether you buy it or not.

Did I personally enjoy the From Ashes DLC? Of course. But it's one DLC pack that wasn't necessary or essential to fully enjoy the game. Hell, Javik was an asshole anyway.
#103 to #95 - anon (04/08/2012) [-]
And DLC is WAY different compared to Expansions, expansions boosts the playable atleast by a fifth, adds new stuff, new areas, new missions. DLC is usually a small pack of miscellaneous items like guns, cosmetic **** , tiny missions.
#96 to #95 - anon (04/08/2012) [-]
It was ON THE DISK. The 'From Ashes' DLC was ON THE ******* DISK awaiting the 10$ deposit to be unlocked. And Javik was awesome, **** you ****** .
User avatar #101 to #96 - obliquezombie (04/08/2012) [-]
Javik was a pessimistic, one-track mind character that had a change of heart in the last 20 minutes.

And please, open my eyes to how it was on the disc. If it truly was, show me the proof.

And EA own Bioware thus making your comment completely invalid.
User avatar #81 to #79 - obliquezombie (04/08/2012) [-]
Looking at BioWare's past, my argument is still "valid."
#84 to #81 - felttipwizard (04/08/2012) [-]
implying anything they did in the past has relevance now they could be completely liquidised by EA on a whimsy.
User avatar #86 to #84 - obliquezombie (04/08/2012) [-]
... Yeah.

Baldur's Gate and KOTOR. "Implying" those games are relevant anymore.
#89 to #86 - felttipwizard (04/08/2012) [-]
The company can't return to those roots they are completely held by EA. You're never going to see that Bioware again unfortunately. Especially considering KOTOR is a Lucas arts title.
Also you forgot about Neverwinter Nights.
