This is true. I live in almostacitynotquitebutenoughttoclassifyasa"city" New Hampshier and pedestrians have "The right of way" so people simply walk into the road like its a ******* sidewalk and the drivers have to stop for them by law. They don't look both ways, they don't use crosswalks, they don't use any caution what-so-ever.

I grew up on long island in New York. I learned quick that cars ARE speeding and don't have enough time to slow down for you. So I grew up knowing that if you don't look both ways before you walk your playing the frogger version of russian roulette.

Now I'm in ********** New Hampsheir and whenever I go to cross the street I stick my head out, look both ways and wait for an opening to run across the street.
I see a truck and I think to let him pass then my opening will appear. He slows the **** down, I'm still waiting for him to go and the gap is getting smaller, He stops to let me walk thinking he's doing me some great service not knowing he just ****** up the gap I was going to run through.

This happens everyday, everytime I walk. The first week I thought they were trying to be nice. The second week I made gestures telling them to go first. Two months later I'm flipping them the bird while making the gesture for them to hurry through. Its now three years later and I'm ignoring them waiting for a gap to appear.

I honestly feel like cars should have the right of way unless there are crosswalks signifiing otherwise.

Attention pedestrians: USE THE ******* SIDEWALK! I hate having to go out of my way to avoid Uncle *********** who thinks he can walk in the road in the direction of ONCOMING traffic! Seriously, if there's a sidewalk ******* use it, That goes for bikes too. **** bike lanes. Rant over.
#54 to #36 - anon (04/06/2012) [-]
Bikes are supposed to ride in the street, moron. Didn't you pay attention in driver's ed?
User avatar #48 to #36 - ferrettamer (04/06/2012) [-]
Well if you are walking on the road, you're supposed to walk into oncoming traffic. Though, if there is a sidewalk, there is no reason they can't use it.

I know so many drivers who actually act like cyclists aren't supposed to be on the road and they get so upset when they have to wait ten seconds to pass them on a highway. **** that **** , cyclists have every right to be on the road.
#68 to #24 - anon (04/06/2012) [-]
no offense to either of you, but i live in a rural area that has many hills and turns and i to get a bit agitated when i come over a hill or around a corner going the speed limit only to have to lock up my brakes as to not kill someone. What happens when someone hits a biker because they are going 40mph under the speed limit on the other side of a hill, if a car was doing that they would be cited for unsafe driving.
User avatar #70 to #68 - richardastley ONLINE (04/06/2012) [-]
That's a part of being a responsible driver. I live in a rural, hilly area as well, but as long as the biker is in his/her lane, it's my fault if I hit him/her.

User avatar #39 to #37 - Biebz (04/06/2012) [-]
**** you hippie. Use the sidewalk. I hate bitches like you.
#41 to #39 - pyroniclol ONLINE (04/06/2012) [-]
Your not supposed to ride bikes on the sidewalk, at least not where i'm from. Don't know if it's a ticket-able offense or just something that is frowned upon tho.
User avatar #40 to #39 - mrfourtysevenman (04/06/2012) [-]
lol stfu im 17 i ride a ******* moped because i can!
because i just want to get a mile to and from school as quickly as ******* possible without being obligated to give somebody a ride because it has one seat. furthermore, i'm sure you drive on the sidewalk more than i do, you drunk bastard.
User avatar #43 to #40 - Biebz (04/06/2012) [-]
No, the road is for cars. Bicyclists create an unnecessary hazard for everyone driving cars. Plus, it is very rare to see a cyclist who is accommodating to people driving cars, they always feel a sense of entitlement and do not obey common street signs and rules.
User avatar #45 to #43 - mrfourtysevenman (04/06/2012) [-]
it is legal to ride a bike in the streets. and this is a moped. it does not pedal past 15 miles per hour and does not drive more than 30 miles per hour. it is for residential and suburban areas.
#49 to #43 - anon (04/06/2012) [-]
Lol noob, cyclists are SUPPOSED to ride in the street. However, cyclists should try to stay on the side of the road when possible, but will need to go through traffic to make left turns. Cyclists are also supposed to obey all traffic laws, such as stop signs, and it's extremely irritating when they don't, as I do when I'm riding a bike.

True story. One of my friends is a cycling fanatic and if you set him off he starts a half hour rant about how the road IS for them and drivers should for some reason be happy they ride 4 abreast so nobody gets past.
Also for some reson it is apparently extremely manly to wear tights, shave your legs and sit for hours with a hard carbon-fibre saddle far up your butt. While looking at other guys butts when they ride in front.
User avatar #15 to #2 - commontroll (04/05/2012) [-]
Actually, those shorts are quite comfortable. I wear them under my running shorts whenever I'm in my tough mudders or spartan races, so that way I have support for my balls and so I can have a bit of extra insulation against the cold. I also would wear them under my soccer shorts because they were super short and we played in the winter. And have you seen their legs? They're friggin' ripped man. As for the shaving, swimmers and wrestlers shave their legs too, so there's less drag and so that way they aren't pulled out or anything like that, respectively.
#9 to #2 - themadcyclist (04/05/2012) [-]
Oh hai.

Those tights you mention are;
a) Extremely comfortable when cycling
b) Prevent saddle sore
c) increase aerodynamics

Shaved legs;
a) when you crash and get road rash, it's heals faster and don't get infections
b) Slight aerodynamics gain
c) Tradition

Go ride 150 miles non stop, then question the manliness of cyclists.

I like to bike everywhere and I hate everyone on the road too. I got screamed at by a car full of fatties once, I think they were just jealous
