>then you watch it because you like cartoons
Damned straight!
>...about girls ponies
I also enjoy watching cartoons about a children's card/video game; subject matter doesn't really account for too much.. (Yugioh and Pokemon)
#134 to #128 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
I understand pokemon and yugio youre watching animated monsters fught each pther with lasers and **** is pretty cash, but watching little ponies talk about their feelings...its super gay
User avatar #139 to #134 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
"talk about their feelings"

That's called "character development."
#144 to #139 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Its not character development if they blatanly say im sad rather than it actually develop through the show that the character is feeling depressed
User avatar #145 to #144 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
and when the hell did they just up and say "I'm sad" for no apparent reason?

you're starting to sound like you don't know what you're talking about..
#177 to #145 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Ive just watched the red one talk about how its smiling because its happy...
User avatar #179 to #177 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
oh, that's just a song she sang, explaining just how important her friend's happiness was to her

it had a point for the whole episode.
#194 to #179 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Im going to watch the episode and give you my feedback i expect you to be waiting eagerly by the computer.
And thankyou dtox for actually having the common sense to reply rationally rather than getting butt hutt like most bronies.

okay, but I really don't expect you to like it, but have fun.
User avatar #136 to #134 - dzamie (04/04/2012) [-]
Okay, I think I've found the problem. Gen 4 ponies (the current ones) are vastly different from the previous ones, since the show is made so that both the children and the baby-sitters and parents who have to watch it with said children can enjoy it.
Also, Rainbow Dash can fly at over 768 mph in order to break the ******* sound barrier. I don't think I've seen a Pokemon do that yet; if one has, please link me to the video.
#142 to #136 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
[url deleted]
Pidgeot one of the most basic pokemon in the game can fly twice the speed of sound.
Ive yet to meet a grown man or even woman that would enjoy watching a program aimed at young girls thats basically conditioning them to accept people for who they are.
I agree with what theyre doing but i dont understand how anyone our age or gender could stand wathing it.
#149 to #142 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
That's because you've been conditioned culturally to view things from a certain perspective and expect certain things from selected individuals.

I'm not saying you have to LOVE the show, but why the **** does it concern you that others happen to enjoy it?

I might like my little pony, but that still doesn't stop me from liking and drawing stuff like this picture here

User avatar #156 to #152 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
WHY do we need gratuitous violence in what we watch? or why do we need sexual themes or big men beating the piss out of each other with guns and machines?

why can't something be lighthearted, cute, fun, and positive while still having developed characters and a good sense of humor? With imaginative concepts and world building ideas and mythology.

a grown man doesn't have to stick to some imaginary set of standards in what he finds appealing. some of us might be a bit more sentimental than others, some of us are probably tired of all the grim, depressing themes that are in most shows, some of us are probably big fans of animation and find this show to be executed especially well.

I'm not going to look at something and think "would someone who bases what they like on masculinity watch this?", I'm going to look at it and ask "do I like this?", and decide from there.
User avatar #188 to #156 - Shadowlordninek (04/04/2012) [-]

Yeah like i said earlier it sounds like weve got a couple of similar interests other than mlp as i also like walking dead shame the seasons finished over here
User avatar #251 to #249 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
I think they're finished over here as well...either that or there's another episode to go (I haven't seen a couple of the most recent ones).

what's a bigger shame is that these seasons don't last at all that long, just 6 short weeks and then it's another waiting period.

still one of my all time favorite series, love how they're going about the zombie apocalypse theme.
#259 to #251 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Yeah mine too i think there might be 1 left it is a pain how short they are im thinking of getting the comic books as everyone raves about how much better they are but i still have hous as place number 1 in my hearts.
the zombie apocolypse could finally become a reality now that vladamir poutin is researching into a "zombie gun" lol im actually not joking its been on the news in the uk You can find the teports on google

can't people have varied tastes?

It's like music, I don't just sit there and listen to one type of music, I bounce around all kinds of genres all the time.

in regards with television, I'll enjoy some walking dead, sons of anarchy, adventure time, and then I'll watch some my little pony: Friendship is Magic.

"sociopath"

do you know how annoying it is when children use incorrect terminology, and generally how much they talk about things they don't even know?

#150 to #140 - Rascal Comment deleted by MitsukiOokami [-]
User avatar #153 to #150 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
sociopathy is a subset of anti social personality disorder, it consists of people with the socially detrimental aspect of not being able to associate with other individuals, feeling no form of remorse or empathy for others, and acting on compulsion. This is in no way related to people wanting to watch a cartoon.

I don't "learn" from the show, it certainly reminds me of certain things, and I think on them and appreciate them a little more, but it doesn't teach me anything I already know.

It's just refreshing to finally enjoy something that's humorous and made with quality that's actually cute and positive.
#186 to #153 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Like i said a SIGN of sociopathy is emmotional immaturity not the only trait.
And before you jump on that i never said you were sociopaths i said you were bordering on sociopathy asin showing a sign. More of a joke than genuine concern for any of your well being.
#159 to #153 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Thats it then ive never found the show funny and i wouldn't watch something because its cute. And i wouldnt say after watching a couple of episodes the show was well put together the plotline is predictable but then again i think thats because the target adience is like 3
User avatar #160 to #159 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
well yeah, the show was meant for young children, it's not going to be too complex.

however, the show has shown significant growth since the beginning of the first season. The animators have taken notice of this adult fanbase, and have started making the show, bit by bit, more mature.
#178 to #160 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Any examples of the changes?
User avatar #191 to #178 - dtox (04/04/2012) [-]
episodes from the first season were more focused on what you described, just simple things learning about the aspects of friendship, where they dealt with things such as bullying, acceptance, understanding, and other such topics. they all had a point, because in the end their lessons made them strong enough to defeat a being of chaos.

however, this season has focused much more on the characters and how they develop, focusing on improving themselves and their personalities. Where the first season had some character development, this one has A LOT.

an example would be one of the recent episodes, it just hit on a lot of emotion and how a character was dealing with her insecurities, and how her friend, one who was usually fairly insensitive and brash, supported her (showing development herself from past episodes).
#231 to #191 - Rascal (04/04/2012) [-]
Sounds like you're right. Im sure if i could get past the fact its aimed at children and its about ponies d be able to enjoy it.
User avatar #758 to #231 - zionsype ONLINE (04/04/2012) [-]
It was actually aimed for teenagers but Lauren Faust couldn't get a deal for a more "grown up" channel because TV producers didn't expect teenagers would like it.

And this is why a lot of bronies, nowadays, disappoint me.
Love and Tolerance used to be an actual rule. It made us what we are.

Then people decided it was a guideline, which made sense. Bronies were still kind and loved others.

Now, no one gives a **** about Love and Tolerance.
Back in my day, we would love everyone. Now bronies are all about hate.

For shame, newfriends. For shame...

#591 to #536 - neverborn (04/04/2012) [-]
hmm, i think it's just that most new bronies (trolls aside) are still kinda awkward about watching MLP and defend it so hard they forget what they're defending, perhaps because they need to justify it to themselves.

Or some people just get over-zealous. either way.

Bronies are categorized by liking My Little Pony, that part is true. But as far as I'm concerned, labeling all bronies by anything aside from that would be stereotyping. Some bronies "love and tolerate", some don't, some bronies "clop", some don't, some bronies respect non-bronies, some dont, etc. etc.

Bronies aren't one person, they're all different, they all have different opinions and personalities, so assuming every brony you meet will be a loving and tolerant person because of a phrase associated with them is generalizing, because just because that person likes MLP doesn't mean they have to follow the rules of "love and tolerance", although some people do, regardless of that trait being affected by being a brony or not.

TL;DR: All bronies are different in some way. Some will love and tolerate, and some won't, but never label them all as the same thing, because that would be stereotyping.

I dislike all the hypocrisy with how most bronies act.. and I agree with the ******** with drl..

I made a statement much like this a week or so ago.. and I was utterly rejected and branded as a hater.
User avatar #581 to #572 - MitsukiOokami (04/04/2012) [-]
Yeah, the brony page that prides itself with "love and tolerance" is branding fellow bronies as haters because they are in disagreement.

I really don't understand what people have against cloppers.
no one's saying you have to watch them

The same deal with almost any other topic. People can't mind their own business.

Posted a couple pages ago. Still awesome.
Hold this for me.

I ocasionally pretend to be a clopper just to piss people off. They call me "the cancer of all bronies" so often that
User avatar #248 - Floopindoop (04/04/2012) [-]
I just disagree with cloppers, reposters and haters, I let them keep doing what they're doing and move on.

As it should be.

I'm just gonna repost an old comment of mine, some parts are unrelated but it still sums up what bronies became pretty well.

I'm a brony since pony thread 5 came out on FJ (beginning of June if I remember well...). And love and tolerance weren't the annoying ******** they are today because of the retards (AKA ponyfags) who consider themselves as a brony.

Today, bronies say "IMMA LOVE AND TOLERATE THE **** OUTTA YOU BUT I pinkie YOU DOWN LOLOLOLOL". They also try to transform everything into something pony related.

Here's a good example --> www.funnyjunk.com/channel/p...

See guys? This is the kind of ******** I'm talking about.

Now, let's get back to what love and tolerance really are:

"Guys...? I'm gay..."

The asshole coming from the internet will say "GET OUT OF MY INTERNET YOU FAGGOT! GO SUCK A DICK THAT'S ALL YOU'RE GOOD FOR!"

The annoying brony will say: "OMYGAWD IMMA YOU PROTECT BECAUSE YOU'RE MY BRO AND I LOVE YOU! BROHOOF!"

The "true" brony will say: "So...? It's not like it's a big deal or anything. Gay or not, you're still the same person right? So I don't see why we shouldn't be friend anymore."

Of course, even the true bronies like to do the retard just to piss the haters even more because it's funny as ****

TL;DR: "Bronies" today are ******* retarded and don't understand a thing.

No problem. Thank you for posting that rant again. What are the odds that it came from another one of my posts?

Don't watch the show, don't care if someone does or not as long as they're not trying to shove it down my throat. Respect for what you call "true" bronies.
#301 to #277 - Kellanved (04/04/2012) [-]
Yeh, I don't even really consider myself a brony to be honest, I just watch the show and sometimes talk about it with other people who watch the show, if that makes me a brony then fine :P You're right though, that crap does get annoying as hell.
