How about we put all straight guys in an inescapable city for a few hundred years. They couldn't reproduce either, so they would die out. However, I can guarantee that they won't enjoy it as much as the city of homosexual men.

or maybe, just maybe homophobic people should sit the **** down and shut the **** up. Just because you're all closeted doesn't mean everyone else should be.

*sigh* I've gotta put this out so I see how other people react to my opinion, so I hope you guys will allow me to test this on you.

Being gay is a choice.

Now, before you thumb me down and call me a bigot and a homophobe, please allow me to explain my position. In my opinion, this position offers more respect towards homosexual individuals as it recognizes their control over their lives.

Unfortunately, this also means they would have to accept responsibility for their choices as well, which makes them much easier to target by our judgmental society. However, I do not believe that an individual is so weak that he could not change himself if he truly wanted.

For example, I am a lazy, slightly overweight man. From what I can tell, my family has a genetic tendency to be overweight, but that does not excuse my choices. When I'm sitting on the couch watching television, I can make the choice to sit there and get fatter or get up and go for a jog. One choice is obviously easier than the other, but that doesn't mean I get to say I had no choice at all, I am still held accountable.

The choice to be homosexual may not seem like such because it's not as simple as "when did you decide to be homosexual." It's just like asking me "when did you decide to be fat?" We don't make lifestyle choices in one moment, we make them every day of our lives.

And you know what? That's fine. If a person is gay, and he is happy about it, then let him or her be gay. They made a decision, and I refuse to look down on them.

TL;DR, I believe homosexuality is a choice, but either choice should be respected.
