It's not so much an adaptation as a transplant. It doesn't change anything major, or even update the dialogue, it's essentially just the same play set in a modern city.

And also really ****** .

I think it conveyed the themes better than the older movie.
User avatar #273 to #25 - santay (03/31/2012) [-]
The only thing that was bad was they seemed to jump around through scenes wrongly. And skipped a heck of a lot of dialogue.

And Paris never died, nor did they even hint at the reconciliation of the Montagues and the Capulets, Romeo was still alive when Juliet woke from the potion, paris danced with juliet at the party instead of romeo, romeo stayed and had sex with juliet the entire night after he was banished instead of visiting her briefly in the early morning, not to mention the collective scenes and dialogue excluded from the movie.

Yeah but they failed to stick to the fact that she was 13 and he was 17, instead they look 16 and 18.

She was somewhere between 12 and 14, and he was between 16 and 20. Either way, she was coming up to marrying age (I don't remember exactly, did her father sell her into a betrothral?), and Romeo was an older teen.

Yes, I thought it appropriote for the Iziya gif.

Its amazing, they actually use the same dialogues in "romeo + juliet" as in the original shakespeare play, is very faithfull to Shakespears work....

We watched the version in highschool where Juliet lets her tit fall out.
Our teacher was supposed to fast forward it,
but he was like 73 years old and couldn't figure it out.
So he just said **** it, let it roll haha

I just finished watching that in English, as my teacher says we need to know multiple modes of performance of R+J for the higher grades. My reaction was "...DiCaprio? Shirtless? ....I'm gonna stare at his nipples." I also quite liked the actor who played Mercutio, he did a really good job, and it was funny when we first saw him being all hyper and **** in a silver dress.
I personally thought it was an extremely good interpretation, though some slut in my class kept saying "Wait.. She's 13? ohmahgawd, he's such a pedo"
MFW.
