They sorta did follow this up, but not with spanish numbers. instead they made visual characteristics on the pokemon themselves. After ArticUNO, ZapDOS, and MolTRES, they followed up with Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Raikou has a polygon with four points on his head, Entei with five, and Suicune with six. I think they still carried this on afterwards to the regi-pokemons where the next number is how many eyes each one has, like the first has seven eyes, the second has eight, and the third has nine. Im not sure about this one though, so you might wanna do some reasearh...

As a former theater usher, I can announce that being sold out of tickets on premiere night doesn't happen (at least at my place.) In projection, they just play the movie in multiple auditoriums with one film.

So a local TV station was having a contest to see if people liked Twilight or the Hunger Games more. You had to call in and tell them what you like best.
MFW I called in and said Lord of the Rings.

Just putting it out there,
But did any one find mocking jay a bit slow and hard to follow?
Also----[SPOILER] ----the way they killed Finick It was kinda like he's died oh no, moving on?

It was super sad...I think it would have been a lot more badass if they had finnick blow himself up to save the rest of the group rather than katniss blow him up

I hated Mockingjay... The first book was great, the second book was pretty good, but Suzane Collins apparently contracted a wild strand of stupid when she wrote the last book.

The snake-mutants were coming after them. The peace keepers were overwhelming them. They had already lost a lot of people. Going on was the only option. Plus, he was being torn apart by the mutants, and there was no saving him.

story-wise. She didn't have the time. It's one thing where a book is set in the future, it's another where you can freeze time to reflect on someone's death for 15 minutes while in a war zone, while just standing there.

It was a decent film. Naturally, it wasn't as good as the books, and a lot less dramatic and exciting, but for what Gary Ross had to work with (as the books are hard to transfer, especially for the target audience they were aiming for), he did a fantastic job recreating the world and producing the film. Also, Jennifer Lawrence is amazing. Not only as an actress, but I've read an interview with her, and she seems so natural and 'real' - I think she's one of my new favourite actresses/actors.

En-hee-way, if you've read the books, go see it. If you haven't, go see it any way, as it's not a bad film at all. And yes, Seneca Cranes beard is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. It's got curls and **** ; what tops that?

They had to remove Madge for some reason, though I can't remember why: I don't think it fit in with the story they were trying to tell or something.
#289 to #257 - lazragoon (03/24/2012) [-]
Madge wasn't very important as a character, she kind of disappears and we see her twice in the next book, then she dies. It was more intelligent to leave her out.

The movie did a few things wrong but it's reasonable because it's a book -> movie adaptation. I found the pacing and some of the character building was sacrificed in order to move the story quicker towards the action scenes, but it did however do more then I expected right. The acting and 99% of the scenes were done right and despite the shaky beginning (which i thought was the worst part of the movie but it's decent in my books) the rest of the acts were done fairly well. I ave my own vision of what the whole thing would have looked like but that's impossible to please. The one thing that irks me was when Kat volunteered to take her place for her sister it seemed a bit rushed and the salute didn't feel right.

TL;DR: I give the movie 8-9/10 good and something you should watch but if you reads the books you'll be 80% pleased with the accuracy between book to movie.
User avatar #291 to #288 - urbanpenguin (03/24/2012) [-]
I loved the movie, but it felt like it jumped through a couple important stuff through the movie all the time. And where did the daughter of the major go? she was supposed to give the mocking jay to Kat, but instead she got it from some random old lady?
User avatar #295 to #291 - HeartOfTheDL (03/24/2012) [-]
I think they had to cut that out to progress the story and get to ACT II quicker. It's kind of a good and bad thing. I think where the hunger games shine was that you felt the injustice of the whole get the 12 districts to fight one another, which is why rue's death was so moving in the first place. An innocent child killed without any real reason but the Capitol being dicks. But then if they did it would take more time then they have on screen and rather have a very slow moving movie they jumped to the more action packed acts. I think they did the best that any book to movie adaptation has done though if I could i would change a few scenes from the beginning.
User avatar #299 to #295 - urbanpenguin (03/24/2012) [-]
Agreed. yet the mutans was a little disappointing, but overall it was a great movie, I got so excited when Kat entered the tube and the countdown started.
User avatar #301 to #299 - HeartOfTheDL (03/24/2012) [-]
Yeah the mutants didn't have the big impact as it did in the book. Then again to customise each 3d model mutant would have taken a lot more money and a lot more work. Even some simple character model takes quite a bit of time getting the ploys to form loops around moving bits and getting the model work when animated is a pain.
User avatar #304 to #301 - urbanpenguin (03/24/2012) [-]
Indeed, the creators did find great ways to walk through some of the details. Yet I would have watched several seasons with a show covering all of it.
User avatar #305 to #304 - HeartOfTheDL (03/24/2012) [-]
I don't think there is enough for a series. The first few episodes would be very tedious and slow. Also there would be less funding so the sets and 3d models wouldn't have looked as nice as it was in the movie. They could have done a lotr and have a slightly longer movie but then again the audience might get bored in the first hour or so. The only way I can see the tv series work would be looking at the other district and maybe developing characters and backstory and also involve more action to keep the audience attention.
User avatar #306 to #305 - urbanpenguin (03/24/2012) [-]
Yeah, and now I got an urge to read all of the books again.
User avatar #308 to #306 - HeartOfTheDL (03/24/2012) [-]
Reading it once is enough for me. The second and third book wasn't as interesting as the first. I only read through both of them just to find out the ending without skipping to the end.
User avatar #318 to #308 - urbanpenguin (03/24/2012) [-]
First is without any doubt the best one, kinda liked the second one too tho. But the third wasen't really that exciting, kinda got bored.
