I'm Chinese and these are both acceptable. "shou yin ji" (the characters you so nicely provided) means sound recording device. But we use both to casually address the same concept of a radio.

Maybe where you live. I'm not saying you're wrong (just that you're different), but where I live, 无线 (無線) literally means "wireless" and 电 (電)means "electricity". And 收音機 does NOT mean "sound recording device" it means sound RECEIVING device. Sound recording device is "錄音機“。
