I am an Atheist, but I ******* hate this ****. To me, being an Atheist means having no religion, no belief in a greater being, creator or God, and being content with that. Being an Atheist doesn't mean cramming it down other people's throats, making a mockery of their beliefs, telling them they're wrong, or trying to "convert" people to Atheisim. Its disgusting. Its almost as if people feel they need to have everyone else believe what they believe, to believe it themselves..
inb4 "Christians do it to everyone all the time", because frankly, I've encountered a lot of diverse people in my 19 years of life, and not one single Christian, or Catholic, or Jew, or Muslim or WHATEVER, has told me what I should and Shouldn't believe, other than on the internet, in posts like this.

Exactly, I'm a Christian (Lutheran) and I had a friend of mine, also Christian (Catholic) shove her beliefs down my throats, yet my atheist friend and I make fun of each other's beliefs all the time (just for fun of course)

He tells me to go to Hell
I tell him to rot in the ground :p

But anyway, No religion is right. Even if God does exist, people twist verses and commands of God to be able to "get away" with things. The goal for us, (well, at least Christians I think) is to try to become a better person through your own interpretation of God, or for Atheists, a lack thereof. Religion's purpose was for peace, but mankind turned it into a war. Again, my opinion, but I don't judge anybody's beliefs unless they judge mine first.

It's less about God than it is about organized religion. Personally, I think there is something, but all of the current religions are wrong. Also, you're lucky to have not had people in real life try to cram their beliefs down your throat. It happens entirely too much.

thats called agnostic. (unless im misinformed)
i believe that a lot of if not all religions are too detailed. they all have excellent base messages that they were formed on. it's the details that make it fall apart. love thy neighbour, forgive and forget. thats excellent. no gays, not so much. take taoism. i almost got in to that because i thought they didnt have a god and it was just formed to show that letting your emotions run their course is good, and not to be ashamed of how you feel. dont let it affect you negatively. but then there were so many details and disciplines and it all falls apart again.

Agreed.. also the loving God that just happens to get pissed and destroy most of the Earth. I just hate the fact that it was written by men, and that they can pick and choose what to put in there.

No, he's nonreligious, yet spiritual. That is, he is of no religion yet beliefs in a supernatural force. Agnosticism is being unsure of either (belief or no belief) and/or seeing both as valid points.
