lol I love it how people always manage to think this way, even when some people from the previous generation said the same **** . At least OP admits how dumb he feels.

I understand people hating "pop" music and such but... People who write pop music are genuises.

All these bands who want to become famous SOO bad are having a lot of trouble. The people who write lyric and music for Justin Bieber are genuis, because they know the EXACT formula to make someone ULTRA famous. And yes, they are "obvious", but in a way that's gunna make them a lot of money.

Not all pop music sucks anyways. Foster the People is actually a really good band. And bands like Passion Pit and Phoenix are pop-songs at their core, just covered with synths and an indie sound.
#175 to #166 - anon (03/07/2012) [-]
But People who have others write songs for them don't really have much music talent. They have others write their music so then there really isn't a "style" to their music. Bands created their sound that made them who they are. Those like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, & Bruno Mars are only in the music "industry" for the money. They care not for the music. Rock bands wanted fame and shared their music, wrote their own songs & played it on INSTRUMENTS.

Good point, I agree. It honestly is unfair... but that's pop culture nowadays.

I don't like the music that's in POP CULTURE but I appreaciate POP music. (pop music includes a whole bunch of bands that I mentioned in my first post)

can somebody explain to me how dubstep is enjoyable. I just need an explanation. I honestly do not understand it at all.

i don't like the over all sound i just love all the small things you can hear in there.

I remeber when I didnt like dubstep, but then I heard some Kayplex and Feed me, and then skrillex wolfgang and they were actually good, obviously the first time you hear one dustep song you say: "WTF IS THIS **** ?" but then you really like it...
#173 to #159 - hiimanon (03/07/2012) [-]
you gotta start little by little with dubstep... Sooner or later you adjust and find yourself enjoying the more out there kind of dubstep. Try Crave You Dubstep Remix if you want... it's not suuuper dubsteppy... perfect for someone who hasn't heard much...

"I miss the mid-seventies/early 80's/nineties" -everyone born between 1990 and 2000.

Some modern music is enjoyable, some is not. That's just how things are. No need to be an ass about it.

Unless it's Nickelback, then you can be an ass.

If you dislike the lyrics for being too 'simple' or 'uneducated' or 'all about partying', **** you. Half the songs from the 70s and 80s were about ******* girls and doing cocaine.

If you dislike the song for not having 'real instruments', **** you. Technology makes everything easier eventually. If you're really going to be an ass about the progression of technology, how about you join the movement dedicated to not partaking in technology? They're called the Amish, and you'd fit right in. But you're not willing to give them a chance because of your preconceived notions about music after the year 2005.

There are musical gems in every decade, stop being so ignorant you musical elitists. I'm not saying you have to like the bands, I'm saying your mother and father didn't deserve to have such an arrogant prick sprout from their genetics.

It still takes talent to know what kind of tunes people will enjoy. So you may or may not enjoy techno, dubstep, etc., because it is easy to click a mouse, whereas I find those genres very intriguing because I know it still takes a musical genius to know what beats will work and what won't.

And of course, the introduction of technology does not mean the death of the old fashioned. There are still plenty of guitar jamming, drum smashing bands out there.

I agree with some of your points but music isn't about what sounds great together, when people talk about making songs they always talk about "good beats". Music depends on the beat the melody and its structure. Music is made to convey emotions or tell stories. Nowadays, artists or their writers only make music that sounds appealing to the ears which is probably one of the reasons we get tired of the song after weeks, there is nothing else going on musically that keeps the listener interested. Artists try hard to release albums yearly and don't put much thought into the music. Past artists/bands took the time to write songs, play them, and make adjustments to make it into a great song even if an album wasn't released yearly. Sometimes bands changed and experimented with their sound. Sometimes technology helps but other times it is overused and it makes songs sound synthetic especially if used to make "beats" , it sounds the same throughout and is probably used when one can't stay on beat. Some music has more thought put into it than others but that doesn't necessarily make it better it just gets a better reaction from listeners. Some modern bands ARE good while others are just cliche and the same applies to artists of any genre.
