Ok, I'm Christian. I go to Church every Sunday, and except for one hour of the week my life is no different than any one else's. I don't slander Atheism, Judaism, Homosexuality, or Islam. People can make whatever choices they want in life. Just please stop slandering my Religion.

Question: Since when is Homosexuality a religious viewpoint?
I only ask because you listed it with a bunch of them; I have nothing against homosexuality.
User avatar #56 to #28 - insanemanoo (03/07/2012) [-]
I was just listing lifestyle choices, and homosexuality is one that a lot of people say the Christians hate.

Right, I just kind of put that comment for any Atheist or Homosexual trolls who want to be like "OMG CHRISTIANITY HATES FREE CHOICE AND YOU'RE JUST A BUNCH OF CLOSE-MINDED BIGOTS."

FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE ON FJ WHO UNDERSTANDS MY POINT OF VIEW ON CHRISTIANITY. if you are a true christian this is how it should be.
#36 to #34 - imthepunkkid (03/07/2012) [-]
A comment of mine that i have said many times
I am christian, But alas i am one of the last remaining true christians, I follow the biggest rules like
so yes i love it that everyone has a different religion and i have the right to tell them about mine, Not shove it down their throat, If they do not agree with my religion or they choose not to follow it i am not commanded to hurt them, I am commanded to respect their decision and let them practice their own religion
I hate that so many "Christians" Have perverted the religion and think that they have to bash anyone who is not Christian, yet early on in the bible it says GOD IS TO BE THE FINAL AND ONLY JUDGE OF SOMEONES LIFE, which pretty much means don't think that someone will go to hell because they practice another religion, maybe they will maybe they won't But man is not meant to figure that out
Look at the Main Polytheistic religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, And Taoism They are all peaceful because they understand tolerance, which is stated in the holy doctrine of all religions
Now look at the main Monotheistic religions Christianity, Judaism, And Islam they are all at war constantly.... yet they worship the same god... Inb4 herp derp they have different names. Yes they do.... Because we speak different languages, but it is the same god why can we not just get along if people would just be a little tolerant then we probably could have achieved light speed by now and be living on different planets, but we are to consumed in fighting over stupid crap to care
So just worship what you want and let everyone worship what they want, or at least that is my opinion

Tl;dr Let people worship what they want and get along

Do we share the same values?
User avatar #38 to #36 - faithrider (03/07/2012) [-]
yes. now at the same i believe that when they are your friend you should try to bring them to Christ. you do have to try and open the door to them but you like you said cannot force it open. you have to let them open it and let you in.
User avatar #39 to #38 - imthepunkkid (03/07/2012) [-]
I agree 100% just tell them about it don't yell THIS IS BIBLE, YOU WORSHIP NOW, if they don't want to that's their choice

Honestly i think if we would learn this and get along, we could be on mars by now, Or probing deep space. We would be so more advanced without religious wars breaking out

sadly most churches only teach opinion so the whole gospel gets misconstrued. after graduating from private christian school i realized that 90% of the people there are extremely close minded and that i needed to get out of the church as soon as possible; the only preacher there that actually preached anything close to the gospel is stifled weekly and is pretty much waiting for the current pastor to retire or die. after being in the real world i realized that people are people, and while im not much of a people person and have no real love for humanity in general i see that everybody is just trying to get by in life. growing up i was always told that atheist and wiccans are evil and should be shunned but one of the coolest co-workers i ever had was wiccan, and the only time i was screwed over at a job was when i was working for a church. granted i shrug off most of the stupid **** alot of christians do because i know they cant bring themselves to think any other way; i have my reasons for being a christian and i have no right to push them on anyboy else.

I've heard all the "judge not and you shall not be judged" and the story of a priest walking past an injured, possibly homeless, man, yet a random passerby stopped brought him to an inn, told them to feed him, heal him, take care of him, and he would come back to pay the fees...
I like what Christianity is supposed to be, but add the fact humans tend to be close-minded, hate/fear what we don't believe, and reject realities that aren't exactly like ours, it gets difficult, everything has become a sin...

I'm a Christian and I hate it when people try to do God's job. I love everyone. I'm not a doormat but I try to be the nice guy. Don't judge guys. I'ts not your job. The whole point of Christianity is to show LOVE Not what the WBC does. Not what the KKK does.

I personally don't like the religion, i'm a ex-christian because i just couldn't stand the intolerance floating around. I know not all Christians are intolerant, I have lots of Christian friends, and Jesus teaches were good. But when I hear people ranting, raving and spreading hateful messages about, how people are going to hell just because they are from a different religion, or being gay. Just made me sick to my stomach and found it morally wrong to try to convert everyone, or spread hateful messages like that. I was never a fan of converting, I know that you can't do it by force but it just seems like converting was another way to push faith on people that didn't want to change or shouldn't change because their faith works for them.

I love this post because it really represents want Jesus wants out of people. But since I've became a non-religious person, I can see that the bible wasn't suppose to be taken literally. Like most extreme Christians do. I now go with logic and science instead of the stories of the bible, because science is real. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sure if a deity exists or not, we will never know until we die. But till than I'm gonna go with what I feel is morally right, and what is able to be proven.

I would love to hear about your opinion? I'm always interested in others peoples views about religion. Also since this is a good post about religion for once, i'm totally thumbing this up.

interesting thing is the Bible never says to convert anybody, it call for discipleship. most of the time churches do all they can to get people into the church but when they get in they are forgotten, treated as if the church did them a favor that has to be re-payed every week

sadly, for some churches this is true, but surely not all, I haven't had such an experience, but I do agree this is what happens

ya well hopefully there will be a change of management soon and not a hostile takeover, but when a pastor is saying things like "We dont need Bible Study, we need revival." you tend to get a little scared for the wellbeing of a once large church. it used to average near 1000 every sunday morning, now its down near 400; witch ironically happnend soon after he said "I dont need Budweiser Christians, all i need is my 300 and im good." He is just an old preacher who cant really think straight anymore.
User avatar #52 to #51 - nichsell (03/07/2012) [-]
I've had dozens of Christians try to convert me or explain to me about what they believe in. I always tell them that I know what they believe in, it's just they get pissed when I explain my beliefs and why I believe in what I do thinking I'm the crazy one. I don't care that they believe in a god, but when they deny certain facts that are proven to be true that totally goes against their beliefs, I'm the one that is called the fool than get blamed for attacking their beliefs. That's the main thing that irks me about religious people, I know all aren't this bad about it, but I've had some bad experiences with them.
User avatar #55 to #52 - justadude (03/07/2012) [-]
ya that is fully understandable. most christians believe in the sunday school 7 day creation but i dont have the arrogance to even try to say how it was at the beginning of time, mostly because of the small fact that i wastnt there. the theory i like most is the expanding earth theory. i attached a good video on it if you're interested at all

I live in a predominantly mormon area, ive had mormons try to convert me before and all it took was for me to say "no" and they stopped. i didnt feel like they were "forcing" theyre religion on me. its no different than seeing a commercial for a car, they try to tell you that their car is the best when thats just what they believe. i dont feel offended that they put those commercials on tv because i know i dont want to buy that car....

There is a very, very big difference between " Religion" and "Believing in God".

Not everybody who believes in God is religious.
I ******* hate it when people say stuff like " I hate religion, those Christians are stupid".

FIRST OF ALL : Not all Christians are stupid. It's simply the religious people who have sticks up their asses.
SECOND OF ALL : Not all Christians think being gay is a sin. I know many gay Christians, Whom I love, and I am also a Christian. Christianity is about accepting everybody and not judging, not hating, but loving. And I am happy somebody finally posted something like this, I've been meaning to talk about it for a long time on Funny Junk. and it just ******* made my day.

Hate religion if you will, hate Christians if you will, I'm simply saying that not all Christians are what people believe them to be.
