Yeah, sure, old gangsters were honorable, 'cause of course everything old is better. It's not atl all like they weren't a bunch of machist, antisemitic, racist, ******* losers who preferred stroking their egos with suits rather than ever have one day's labor in their life. Sure, yeah, they were totally better than nowadays' gangsters, it's not AT ALL as if they were hooking up teenage girls on cocaine for prostitution too, that idea would just be silly. Everyone knows they were respectful towards women.

Indeed, I'm sure THESE gangsters would never beat you up if you were half-jew or irish. It's not like they weren't like the Humphrey Bogart films you used to boggle up when you were a kid, they're all a bunch of good guys actually.
Oh, and when your grandpa lost all his savings in a bank robbery, i'm sure the gangsters gave them back to him, 'cause that's what gangsters do. After all, they're never robbing the people, they're just robbing the banks, 'cause that's how real life works.

We should have more of these posts, showing how crime is always cool as long as it's old (eh, hitler?). I wish I lived back then, when gangsters were all like the Godfather, respectful towards their mothers and totally not beating their girlfriends silly. After all, I'm sure the 'wifebeater' was an ironic term, eh? HOHOLOL

You guys are ******** .

"Respectful to Women"
Wrong. They were respectful to the wives of other gangsters, and occasionally people they respected.
You know the whole "Women should stay in the kitchen" bit we like to joke about? That's what the gangsters did with their wives.
Oh and if they were the "lower" rank Gangsters, now that's where the rape and abuse comes in.
The only true difference between the old and new gangster, is the old were actually successful. Odin help you if you owned a business in those days, because you couldn't go to the cops, who were really crooked then, and you were often extorted for your hard earned cash.
tl;dr The SS wore kickass uniforms, does that justify those that coordinated the Holocaust, The Aryan Race Propaganda, and other obscene crimes done?

They may have killed and tortured thousands of people, rendering a generation of children fatherless and emotionally scarred, but atleast they wore cool hats and held the door open for ladies

Agreed they were criminals...but the times they were facing were questionable. The Prohibition, which was from 1919-1933, banned the selling/use of any alcohol in the United States. But people still wanted their alcohol, and Capone was one of the people who brought it to them. While he was involved in less legitimate occupations such as prostitution, he was seen as as "Robin Hood" type figure for all of his charitable Work. There's one story when he was in a gunfight with a rival gang, and a girl and her mother were injured in the process by flying glass, and their eyes were severely damaged. Capone paid for the surgeries to fix them. Yes what he did was illegal...but given the crackdown from the government on something so many people wanted and liked, he was key in fighting that battle...reminds me alot of today with the internet crackdowns and piracy imo...
