This is something that electronic musicians, including myself, have trouble with. Performing one of your tracks could be as simple as pressing play, because theres really no way to perform it live unless you have every sound mapped to a button on a controller, or you're scratching on an actual turntable with two separate tracks playing. Most electronic live performers will use a midi controller to change it up a bit and do some live editing, pitch changing, loops, and some other things. Skrillex actually does this alot, if you ever see any of his live performances.

That's really the thing though, Skrillex is an incredibly talented producer who understands Ableton (the program he uses) to it's fullest extent, but he's not the best live performer.

In the end, just saying that he hits the play button and does nothing else is a complete fabrication.

he uses ableton? there's this guy named terabyte frenzy ,he's also really good and uses ableton.
User avatar #417 to #389 - fuckthemhipsters (03/04/2012) [-]
Is that what he uses? I always used Reason. I never really looked into anything else.
User avatar #419 to #417 - Itdoesntmatter (03/04/2012) [-]
Is reason any good? I'm stuck with using FL Studio 9 XXL at the moment.
User avatar #421 to #419 - fuckthemhipsters (03/04/2012) [-]
It's a little complicated at first, kind of like any real editing software. I like it, though. There's a trial for it somewhere on the internet.

People keep saying what he does isn't considered "music"

Does everyone forget to realize when rock n' roll first came around there were many people who didn't consider that to be "music"?

Times change, music changes with the times.

skrillex is music.... if anyone considers rebbeca black as music and not skrillex..... kill them :)

Rebecca Black was just a girl who wanted to see what it was like to be a pop-star for a day and had her parents pay a ton of money to put her in a video which unfortunately was released on youtube.

i feel bad for her at times, but then i listen to the song and remember why she is a menace to society. her and that black guy in the song (who is actually the producer of the song and has produced a good number of other fake-pop music videos)

her video honestly isn't the worst. if you want a good laugh, go to Ark Music Factory's website and view some of the other videos. my personal favorite is "ordinary pop star" by CJ Fam.

I don't think he loves lapfox that much.
I think it's just the only electronic artist he knows and he's trying to seem "in the know".

Oh look, a list of nearly mainstream electronic artists that most people know and a few that you probably found by typing in "my little pony techno" on youtube.
Go sodomize yourself with a retractable baton as quickly as possible.

I seriously just went on youtube and listened to a ******** of lapfox and he sounds just as repetitive as every other electronic artist. There are others that are as good as, if not better than lapfox.

The only thing that makes him not repetitive is that he produces different forms of electronic music. All of his music is repetitive and, to be honest, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Electronic music has to be repetitive or else it is inconsistent and just sounds like a mess. It's the same thing with other genres. Metal has different verses but the choruses are all the same with maybe some minor variation. I mean, I like the guy, he has some great music and quite frankly, I don't know why you are getting so butthurt over this.
