mewtwo was genetically engineered therefore he was never a child
User avatar #103 to #102 - ganoninthepit (02/10/2012) [-]
Watch the intro to the movie that was cut out. He was a child when he was first engineered.
User avatar #105 to #103 - soerd (02/10/2012) [-]
the intro is the ancient mew which died and his genes were taken from in order to make him.
#109 to #105 - anon (02/10/2012) [-]
Hes refering to the Intro that was cut from the movie, where a young Mewtwo befriends the 3 starter pokemon clones and Ambertwo, Dr Fujis daughters clone.

In the first movie, when that song starts playing(Brother my brother) and Ash dies, I don't think I've ever cried more in my life.

that movie was pretty bad looking at it now...watch nostalgia critic and see why i say so
User avatar #163 to #58 - ganoninthepit (02/10/2012) [-]
I did and I just saw it as something to laugh at.

Honestly nothing can ruin that movie for me, lol. Even if I do know how ridiculous it is. Still gives me feels.
User avatar #170 to #163 - metajunky (02/10/2012) [-]
still i dont see how. even in elementary school i new ash was going to make it ok. if anything the saddest moment was in the show when ash tried to leave pikchu, or when he actually left butterfree. of course they wouldnt let ash die, even if the pokemon were crying and sad, you knew he was going to make it. and for him to come back because of MAGICAL POKEMON TEARS of all things, it was bad, really, really bad, with a questionable message
User avatar #184 to #170 - ganoninthepit (02/10/2012) [-]
Of course he was, but that doesn't mean it wasn't depressing looking from the perspective of the characters.. Namely Pikachu. At least I look at it that way.

And the tears thing didn't come completely out of nowhere. If they hadn't cut the scene with Mewtwo's creation, it'd make more sense. Deus ex Machina as it is.

The point about the message it sent was sort of amusing in that it could be seen that way, but I never really looked that deep into it, even after I watched the review.

I guess I do because I look at things from the characters' perspective. Seeing Ash die out there must've been heartbreaking for Pikachu.

even looking from that point of view, if you can pretty much recite what would happen next then it takes any emotion out of it. when i saw the movie as a kid i was just counting down to when he comes back. its not different from classic fairy tales. did you really cry when snow white or sleeping beauty died or went into eternal sleep? no because you knew what was coming. but at least disney were the first to flesh out the characters emotions during those scenes
User avatar #196 to #195 - ganoninthepit (02/10/2012) [-]
I didn't care for Disney much. I guess that's just me, lol. It was emotional anyway, just to see the reactions. Also Pikachu being the only one (Meowth aside) to actually refuse to fight. for some reason.. it was just good. predictable and unrealistic? Yeah. But that's Pokemon for you.

Pokemon gives me feels.

"The human sacrificed himself, to save the Pokemon. I pitted them against each other, but not until they set aside their differences did I see the true power they all share deep inside. I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." ~ Mewtwo
