I don't intend to offend anyone's beliefs, but this is how I feel about religion.

I found these puzzle pieces laying here next
to this box. Want to help me put it together?
No. It' s a picture of a duck.
There' s no point doing all the work.
The box already told me what it is.
Some of these pieces don' t
seem to match the picture.
I' d like to figure out why.
how ‘accurate.
trees' Mer here.
It' s beginning to look nothing like I
the box. Are you sure you don' t
want to help?
How can you say that?
There' s still a lot of missing pieces.
it' s a duck. The box wouldn' t lie.
but I can see trees, water;
So far, ho duck,
Look, it' s almost done and it' s definitely
not a duck. It looks more like Winnie the
Pooh. I haven' t found tbe: l* yet,
ATC- but" it’ s certainly not ‘a duc ,

Forget references to religion, look at those cute little bunnies. Those are the cutest ******* bunnies I've seen.

The box says 25 pieces, but the puzzle is 4x6.
They are clearly two different puzzles.

What if this comic is actually a deep social commentary about people looking to argue one against the other, while they are two separate entities that do not conflict. Perhaps science is the answer to how and not the answer to why.

What if somebody has watched south park and pretends he is deep...

South Park didn't invent the idea of "how and not why", they quoted it.
Thank you for exposing yourself as a 12 year old.

I would necciarly call it blind but yes it is faith. But you do realize that believing in things like primordial soup and other theorys that say evolution is the orgin of life is an act of faith as well? Id have to say on either side, Believing in God or evolution as the orgin of life is an act of faith. Maybe agnostics are the most logical people lol
#91 to #80 - anon (02/10/2012) [-]
Evolution has been proven, God has not. therefore believing in evolution is not "faith" because we have seen factual evidence.
#93 to #91 - jacobjc (02/10/2012) [-]
mirco evolution has been proven...and yes evolution is real and survial of the fitest is real. but evolution being the orgin of life has not been proven, not by any means. primordial soup is a theory.
#105 to #93 - Ultimitive (02/10/2012) [-]
the primordial soup theory has evidence behind it though, while there is no evidence to support the existence of god.
#111 to #105 - jacobjc (02/10/2012) [-]
yes the evidence of primordial soup happing is about once in about 229349861599007151161082089530208694079656498916828112373758883938692287600018553110125686554624 trys. even with how vast our universe is it doesnt make a dent in this number. if a hurrican stroms through a junk yard even for billions of billions of years do you think one day it will assemple a car? If evolution is the orgin of life id go with another theory. Primordial soup is supposed to have created RNA which is perhabs the most complex part of all living things. That nature created this first doesnt make sense, thats like building a skyscraper before you learn how to play with legos.
#114 to #111 - Ultimitive (02/10/2012) [-]
yes, with enough time it will. primordial soup theory merely offers an explanation on how basic carbon molecules might've been formed from the chemical soup found on primordial earth. a test done was done in which said basic molecules were formed from chemicals which we think were present during said time. primordial soup theory does not pretend to tell us how life came about, just how one of the basic components of life came about. evolution does not pretend to show us how life came to be either, just how it changes. even if the odds are low, they're better then impossible, which your god, at the moment at least, is.
#149 to #114 - jacobjc (02/10/2012) [-]
also back to primordial soup the chemicals that the scientist "thought" there at said time were honestly pretty bias. Every assumption was made for the benefit of protein advancment. For the experiments they assumed that there was no aldehydes, carboxylic acids, and amines which at best is a stretch of imagination. just my opinion, but alot of evolutionary theorys has these generous assumptions. evolution is real, even in our lifetime we can see serval mirco-evolutions, but i think thats to keep species alive and able to adapt to a changing enviroment, not the orgin of life
#145 to #114 - jacobjc (02/10/2012) [-]
i agree in part, to believe in something with close to impossible odds makes more sense than something, that in at least in an empirical evidence angle, has close to nothing to stand on. I'll admit faith is can be a nightmare for an intelligent mind. btw thanks for debating with me in a way that doesnt seem your angry at me for believing in god. But what i do have to stand on is that 6 years ago i was a homeless teenage drug addicted alcoholic with serve depression/anxiety. It came to a point where i just wanted to die, it was winter and winter on the streets is hard times. Even 30 shots of whiskey wouldnt keep me warm. i ran out of options so i though maybe God is real, and maybe he does give a damn about me. For the next 6 months i was able to get clean and sober for the first time, my family took me to church. The church all but adopted me. Gave me a place to live, helped me get a job and showed me so much love i couldnt even understand it coming from a life a cutthroat aggression. For the first time in my life i was at peace. 5 years later im a college grad and help people get clean and sober for a living. Doesnt pay much but i love. My point is in my mind God did a beautiful for me, why is it wrong to put faith in him, why are people angry with me that i stand up for the case of christ, and i dont do it ignoretly (at least id like to think so) either. I mean **** i got like 35 red toenail clippings for trying to debate it. Sometimes its just wierd to me that people get angry or think im an idiot for my belief(i graduated with close to a 4.0). Faith did a good thing for me, if you dont belive in God thats fine, but **** why do so many people think religion is a horrible thing. For me, it saved my life.

Maybe we are that .00000000000000001% chance of life forming. If there is a chance, then it could happen.
And look; IT DID.

I thought this was a clever way to illustrate beliefs.
However, I would not have made it about religion (see pretty much all threads on this post is people fighting about religion) I would have made it about stupid, ignorant, stubborn people.
I am not an Atheist nor do I have a religion.
I think people need to stop fighting and respect other people's beliefs, whether they agree with them or not.
This **** starts wars.

first, retoast
second, It's a little presumptuous saying that we have 90% of the universe figured out. We used to "know that the earth was flat and we used to "know that the sun circled the earth.
User avatar #31 to #26 - mcstorms (02/10/2012) [-]
I do feel you are right we do not have the universe 90% figured out if anything it is less then 10%. However view this as one thing we understand 90% of. There are surely many more puzzles in the world then just that one right? However if you have 90% of one puzzle then you can probably hypothesis what it is. However there a religious people who would still say we are wrong. For instance there are still religious people who don't believe in gravity.

in reference to gods, what can be insinuated without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. in reference to higher planes of existance, possible but i really doubt it.
