What is curious however, is some wemen' s reasoning that there is a "double standard" that exists because men are
congratulated for being sexually promiscuous - and women are given negative connotations such as "slut" or
whore". Why some women can' t understand this very simple concept has always battled me. Men have to compete
with one anetheron get picked for sex. They have to display that they have the best genes or the most value.
Women have to compete too, but only for the BEST male. They can have sex anytime they choose, just not with the
best choice. But if they were to lawer their standards as men have to do, they would get to pick from a leng line of
men. "Getting laid" is not something that can happen every day for the common Joe. He haste navigate the maze
of a woman delicately in social situations to convince her he' s the best pick. If a woman goes to a bar, club, or
casual encounters leeking fer sex, and only wants sex, she will have zero problems getting it. Therefore, over time,
women have gained a negative connotation, because they are not "beating anyone" or doing anything remotely
impressive, they are simply manipulating basic human biology fer sexual gratification. And thus, peef, the term "slut"
was manifested. I didn' t even have to go into this leng winded rant to make my point invincible - think female
prostitution. is there a reason why the porn industry is so huge but only for the male population? is there a reason
female prostitution is a global epidemic, but you doel hear problems about male prostitution? Why a female
prostitute can make quite the living, while male prostitution isn' t very profitable for the average Joe? Good luck guys,
let the best man win "

That is true- and it happens from an evolutionary standpoint. Men must be dominate, and women must be worth the chase. But we're people now- we don't HAVE to compete to be the most suitable candidate, and it doesn't have to be a game now.

It is unfortunate that this is such the case, but why use the word "slut" to label women who DON'T play this game? Why discourage women from being just as promiscuous as men? Doesn't that seem like the adverse affect? Women are allowed choices.

Basically- if we want to get laid, we'll have to stop calling women sluts and women will have to feel less like a prize to be won- ironically objectifying themselves even further.

This comment makes me feel a lot better about myself. Sometimes I feel really bad about being female when I see posts like this. I hate it when people judge me harshly on something that I can't control. I really did not choose to be female and if I had had the choice to be a man I probably would have been one.

Keep in mind that a large portion of the people on this site are males under seventeen. They don't quite understand how women work. I imagine that it's hard enough to be a woman constantly being judged by her peers.

I don't understand why women aren't allowed to want sex as much as men do.

Probably because you don't. You think you do, but you don't. Not even close.

It's not that simple. Women want sex- but usually in a different way. Just as a lot of men view sex as purely a physical act, women tend to want more out of sex than physical gratification. In this case, it's more of an expression. Of course, it differs from person to person, but there's a lot more factors to it. A woman who does want to have sex is discouraged to go out and have sex- because of biased views like this. Women want sex just as much as men- but typically for different reasons. Reasons they won't get out of a one night stand.

Really, 2 toenail clippings down? How could suggesting a good read be offensive? Seriously, its a good book for chicks to read. Especially those of you complaining about the slut label being applied just for liking sex as much as guys do.

I'm actually in between books at the moment, can you give me a basic outline? Want to know if I should pick it up... also, 2 toenail clippings down for a book suggestion is absurd so I have used all my power to remove 50% of the negativity that you have received for promoting reading. While we're at the subject, have you read "The Game" by Neil Strauss... It's an interesting mostly true novel about a man (Struass) who goes to live with the pickup-artists (men who believe they have scoring chicks down to an exact science)... It's a very entertaining read, provides a good insight into both the male and female thought process behind sex, but I'd recommend it for recreational reading only. I have some friends who nearly gave it bible status. Still, relevant to this topic and extremely enjoyable book.

nooo, I can't find it on amazon.

Basically its about the differences between how men and women approach sex. Why men rarely have troubles orgasming when some women can find it challenging. Why men can be much more casual about sex than most women can.

Basically the point of the book is that sex doesn't have to be nearly as complicated or meaningful, or stressful as many women make it out to be. For most men, sex is simple, pure fun, and there is no reason a woman shouldn't be able to approach it the same way in this day and age.

The irony is, the "SLUT" label is most often applied by other women.

Men may use the term as well, but it has less negative connotations for us. As in- "Dude, get over hear, this party is packed with sluts!" OR "Don't worry, I know a total slut to hook you up with." Disrespectful, yes, but still a positive in men's eyes.

True- but regardless, it's a label most women don't want to have. It's a label suggesting that the woman's standards are rather low, or that she'll treat sex like it's something trivial.

Frankly, I don't consider a woman a slut unless she uses sex as a tool. To get a raise. To get on someone's good side. That kind of stuff.

I'm personally of the opinion that most women use sex as a tool. Men have sex for sex sake. Women on the other hand have a myriad of reasons to "do the deed" only a fraction of which are purely for fun.

You can't be serious... The idea of most women only having sex because they want something, not because they like it, has been disproved time and time again. Research on the subject always come up with the result that women enjoy sex just as much as men and do it for pleasure just as much as men do. Very few women actually use sex as a tool (Unless you count prostitution, but that's not really the type of ladies that we're talking about right now.).

I'm not saying women don't enjoy sex.
But regardless of whatever research your are siting, my 32 years of existence (more than half of which I've been having sex) have taught me that women don't always have sex for fun and often use it as a tool. For example (and to quote an awesome sitcom) "to reinforce good behavior".
Not that I blame them. If I had the ability to get women to do what I want, I'd be whipping it out every chance I got.

You're very polite but I find a lot of things wrong with this... Why would you allow yourself to be controlled be something like sex? Why would you have sex with women who want to have sex with you just to control you? Why would you want to control women? It really just doesn't make any sense to me...

Also, I hate to say it but your own experience is not a good example of 'this is the way that things are'. It's just not accurate enough considering your own taste in women and your own morals/values.

To answer your questions- Because we're men, and you're women, and thats the way things have worked since the dawn of time?

I also didn't mention MY women. Although I haven't always picked winners, but the fairer sex isn't all bad.

History shows time and time and time again, powerful women often used sex to gain their power. Cleopatra ring a bell? This tactic wasn't reserved for the elite. Women have been using sex to control men since we crawled on our bellies from the sea.

My point in all this is, the stigma of "slut" is a self inflicted punishment by women on themselves. Women **** for many reason, fun is one of them, but so is social status, wealth, revenge, control, etc. Until women stop doing that, and approach sex for a purely fun time like men do, "sluts" will be derided for just "giving it away."
