The biggest difference between russia and the rest of the western world is that russia is very blatently and agressively open with their corruption and opression. In essence we in the so called 'free world'(yea right) have as much reason to revolt, only the enemy is more invisble.

There's a difference about caring about the day-to-day political bullshit of a country and wanting to follow a potential revolution going on in a country that takes up an entire sixth of earth's land. This is fucking important.

Almost a whole week has passed since the voting day Iin Russia and the news about it on youtube... And only NOW I see a joke about it on FunnyJunk. Well, at least someone follows the politics of other countries (kind of).

yeah. There are bunch of videos on youtube but they are all in Russian...Nobody translates anything. Good thing I am Russian and need no translation :P.

I'm also Russian, but I live elsewhere now, so I didn't really pay that much attention to it. But my biggest question is...why do foreigners even care?
User avatar #26 to #24 - ekatchenko (12/10/2011) [-]
I agree. I don't follow Russian news either. But still it kind of hurts in the inside when you find out such things are happening in the country you once called home and grew up in. Such things make me lose hope in Russia more and more. :(

Well I hope for Russia's sake that Zyuganov isn't elected in, for what little chance he does have. I heard on the news a bit after I moved that he wants to Re-Stalinize Russia. That will surely skullfuck Russia back several decades.

To comment and translate the bullshit written there
That was shown just after the elections on Vesti 24, a governement news channel, and it's showing the official results of elections in Rostov region (marked red on the map).
So the first one is United Russia, the main party, Putin and Medvedev are members of it.
The next one is Kommunist party of Russian Federation. Number three is the Liberal-Democratic party. Nr. 4 is Fair Russia and nr. 5 is Yabloko (Apple).Only these 5 parties will be in the parliament and as you can see, United Russia got 60% of the places which would let them officially do what they want
User avatar #23 to #13 - ImaTumor (12/10/2011) [-]
In the votes from Rostovskaya Oblast'
Edinaya Rossiya got 58.99% of the vote
KPRF-32.96%
LDPR-23.74
Spravedlivaya Rossiya-19.41
Yabloko-9.32%
Patrioty Rossii-1.46%
and Pravoe Delo got .59%

I don't even follow my own country's politics...

< MFW politics comes on on TV.
User avatar #42 to #41 - ImaTumor (12/10/2011) [-]
Nor Do I, I just memorized the names, all I know about them is that Zyuganov is from KPRF and Edinaya Rossiya is Putin and Medvedev . I think Putin is Running again in 2012 from what my fried Andrei said.
#54 to #42 - anonymous (12/11/2011) [-]
Yep, there was a United Russia's summit or something, where they declared that Putin will be== a candidate for== president and Medvedev would become the Prime Minister, so they would basically swap places
User avatar #11 - thepsycho (12/10/2011) [-]
I'm not russian but found it intredasting.

I'm the -40%
#7 - mrbah (12/10/2011) [-]
the news probably showed not the percentage of votes in % (always 100 when added) but the percentage of allowed voters (which is usualy under 100% as not everyone votes) in order to point out the fraud.
