The description got kinda creepy towards the middle. "You will feel a weight on your chest; you may even here weird noises. You will then feel a gentle kiss on your forehead, and a husky voice saying 'Don't Scream'"

What kind of things can you do to tell if you're dreaming?

This happens to me, but with my memories. I have a neurological issue with memorization, and since my dreams are very similar to my reality, sometimes I can't distinguish if things really happened or I just dreamed them. It's awkward when I ask people of something they never did or said, yet I'm thoroughly convinced they did.

I have a very weak version of that; I can't determine old memories. When they're from before I was about 7, I can't tell if they're real or I made it up. It's sad because I decided to not trust my memories at all and basically have a gap in my past. :(

i have a twin brother, and sometimes i get confused between things he did and what i did. it's really kinda weird.

That would definitely mess up my brain; most of my fake memories are made up from pictures. But I have no issues anymore; when I realized a lot of my memories were fake (when I was 7 or 8) my brain stopped making them.

Sleep paralysis is no joke, especially when you watch a lot of horror movies. I got it as a sleep disorder from getting very little sleep over a year.

Imaging you just wake up, and suddenly you realize you can't move. You start struggling to move but nothing. The light are off, but the tv is on so you can see clearly. Now things start growing dark, and then you hear footsteps in the distance, closer, louder with each step. At this point you start screaming in your head to move, over and over again. Finally it's over, you look around wondering why the room is shaking, you look at your hand and see it's you who's shaking. That was the first of many for me.

Just saying, be prepared.

Sleep paralasis is MUCH worse than explained here. It can be most terrifying experience in your life. You should do a bit of more research if you want to try this. Just a heads up.

Warning: Do not try alone if you are afraid of nightmares. You have a 50% chance to get something you like and something you hate and you will not be able to instantly wake up from it. Yes, you will **** urself.

first thing i think of when i find out i cant move: Slenderman walking into my room and just staring at me. possibly stroking my face. then leaving.

I've done this once when i was a sophomore in high school, pretty much what happened was i got out of my bed (unaware that i was dreaming) my tv was on, so i go to turn it off and when i do i realize the power button is on the opposite side. SO i turn off my tv then instantly have a urge to piss, so i go into the bathroom, piss, then wash my hands, as i'm grabbing for a towel which is usually on the right side of my counter it had been places over my mirror(which was not there before) so i rip off the towel to see myself in the mirror. I stand there, looking at myself, then i blink, when my eyes open i am dead, decaying and screaming. I run away from the mirror back to my bed only to see there was a enormous black hole where my room had been, the mirror me was walking towards me. i panicked and jumped in to the hole, then woke up. I'm assuming i died.

well i did it once on accident it feels like ur paralyzed and all ur can do is move ur eyes NOTHING ELSE i was so scarred O_O
User avatar #214 to #165 - yepimbored (11/25/2011) [-]
you hear a lot of people saying theyll never do it again because they were too scared or panicked when they couldnt move. the only thing you have to keep in mind is to relax. this is a natural thing, and your emotions influence your dreams. if you realize you cant move and start to freak out, quess what, youre gonna be scared out of your wits from the **** your mind comes up with.
User avatar #220 to #214 - odavies (11/25/2011) [-]
That's a different kind of Lucid Dreaming. This kind (called by many; Sleep Paralysis), is actually supposed to scare you ******** . Described as being awake but only able to move your eyes, you hallucinate noises, and black shadowy demon like figures.
#333 - yutakenusername (11/25/2011) [-]
"In some cases, when hypnogogic hallucinations are present, people feel that someone is in the room with them, some experience the feeling that someone or something is sitting on their chest and they feel impending death and suffocation"

User avatar #368 to #363 - Sockopolis (11/25/2011) [-]
Yep. I did this before, I saw it on 4chan once. It really is better than any horror film you'll EVER see.

i am still gonna try this cause it said no physical harm
User avatar #391 to #386 - yutakenusername (11/25/2011) [-]
Yeah, I don't think it causes any actual harm, just potentially an emotionally scarring experience. But if you do it, do you think you could PM me about it telling me how it was? I may try it.

Only try this if you have a strong heart, i tried, got sleep paralysis, and i dreamed these black silhouettes were just walking around my bed, every once in a while one would go up to my face, and open it's jaw so it stretched it's entire face out, and just scream at me.
