Saving Private Ryan is completely unrealistic! I mean, America actually did something during the war? I thought it was too busy stealing glory.

dude that is ******** and you know it
as much as i hate to say it, they did ALOT in the war

USA was the most fair country in allied countrys in WW1. They all wanted to conquer and colonize the world but USA was acting fair enough to tell them this is wrong.
And I'm not from USA, I live in a country who fought againts those countrys(No, not Germany.)

Yeah, that's what I ******* thought. You can't do anything because the US military is a ******* joke.
#454 to #451 - invadeusa (11/11/2011) [-]
Okay then... what DID the US do in the war, apart from arriving late?
User avatar #469 to #454 - straitedge ONLINE (11/11/2011) [-]
America entered the war late because we aren't the war mongerers people think we are.
Buuuut, if you must ask, Mr. Troll, if it weren't for America, Britain and the rest of Europe would be living under nazi ideals.
Britain and France are the reasons Hitler came into power in the first place when they decided to seek revenge by placing heavy fines on the German nation in the Treaty of Versailles, which ended WW1.
Because of the fines, Hitler and other Germans formed the Nationalist party in order to bring the German nation back to power.
But, anyway, I'll get back to your question. America dedicated tremendous amounts of troops to a war they really didn't need to fight. Without America, there would have been no Normandy invasion, Africa would still have been under the control of the Germans, and the Italians would have still been plaguing the rest of Europe as well. The American military also had much better infantry weapons and than the other European nations.
May I ask what nation you are from, Mr. Troll?

LOL considering canada was the first country to take their beach on d-day where the americans got ass raped untill the canadians broke the line. your being a little bias
#518 to #499 - anonymous (11/11/2011) [-]
He's being a little biased? YOU'RE the one being biased. The US had more of an impact than your ****** little country did, and they didn't even want to be a part of either war.
#524 to #518 - rugbylyfe (11/11/2011) [-]
lol! canada? a ****** country? eh bud, we're first world, our leader isn't bankrupting us, AND we've never had civil war. yup, were a ****** country
User avatar #515 to #499 - straitedge ONLINE (11/11/2011) [-]
Considering the American 2nd ranger division landed on the most well-defended beach that had the most veteran German divisions on it, who cares that it took the rangers two days to get their objective?
#516 to #515 - rugbylyfe (11/11/2011) [-]
lol, you americans and your nationalist ways. are you really any better than any other country? your ******* debt to china finances their military. you've destroyed your economy single handedly AND are too errogant to acknowledge that us canadians saved your asses many times during the war. even if the rangers went up against the most heavely defended beach, ya cool i applaud that, but dont go on a trip about how great you are. you did as much as every one else did in the war and gloat like your the top empire the world has ever seen.

"Insults an American for having pride in his country"

Actually Germany had the best weapons, MP44 for example, by most people viewed as the first modern assault rifle ever made, which was the base for most later assault rifles, including the AK-47 & 74 and the M4 etc.

Oh and btw, list of allied powers responsible for the treaty of versailles:
British Empire
France
Italy
Japan
United States

Also, the nazi's did rise to power because of the fines alone, the whole European economy was devastated, and the nazi's solved that problem.
And last but not least, the war would have been won without America as well, or did you forget the Russians drove back the Germans without any help?

Not defending this troll, but your arguments have zero credibility.
#543 to #495 - anonymous (12/11/2011) [-]
First of all, Russia was barely holding their own against Germany and only by opening the Western Front and splitting german forces was Russia able to make any progress whatsoever. Second, America never verified the Treaty of Versailess so there goes any credibility you had in trying to read a history book..... and yeah you tell yourself that Europe could have survived without the North America countries intervention.....*cough* dumbass
#520 to #495 - anonymous (11/11/2011) [-]
If the war would have been won without America, why did you drag them into it in the first place?
#523 to #520 - cauhgon (11/11/2011) [-]
We didn't, Japan did
User avatar #514 to #495 - straitedge ONLINE (11/11/2011) [-]
Actually, it was known as the STG-44. And this weapon was not mass produced and had many faults, making it an unreliable weapon.
America, on the other hand, had the first effective semi-automatic infantry rifle and heavy caliber sub-machine guns.
Also, then-president Wilson called for peace and the creation of the League of Nations (the precursor to the UN) in his Fourteen Points. But, convinced that the war was Germany's fault, France and Britain imposed those heavy fines upon Germany.
This led to Germany's economic depression. Because of this depression, many citizens protested against the Government. One was young Mr. Hitler.
After being arrested, he wrote his book, yadda-yadda-yadda, eventually came to power.
So, because Britain and France couldn't leave well enough alone, Hitler came to power with his Nationalists party and became the catalyst for WW2.
#517 to #514 - cauhgon (11/11/2011) [-]
All good points, yet non that contribute to ur 'all hailz america' original post, apart perhaps from the part about Wilson calling for peace (read that right after I wrote my first reply, so my apologies).

As for the gun part, I would say the MP40 was a pretty effective sub-machine gun, as were the PPSh-41.

Ah well doesn't really matter

#501 to #477 - anonymous (11/11/2011) [-]
OK, so first off, you're retarded. The last time I checked the only good things Canada has produced is maple syrup and Epic Meal Time. Also, you created Justin Bieber.

Next, America did a whole hell of a lot more than Canada during WW2 (not saying Canada didn't do anything because they definitely did). Let us start with troop counts, Canada had 1.1 million troops dedicated to the war and America had 11 million. Not to mention that without the commanding of Dwight D. Eisenhower and George Patton a lot of the European operations would not have been so successful.

Thirdly, America was the only country fighting on the Pacific front. Without our forces suppressing Japan who knows how the European front would have looked like. It does not hurt that we ultimately ended the war with the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan in 1945 (yes I know the scientists working on the Manhattan Project were not all American but the bombs fell out of American planes).

So please shut your ignorant mouth about subjects you think you know about because you bought the latest Call of Duty. Happy Veterans Day to the American Troops!
#521 to #501 - invadeusa (11/11/2011) [-]
America did ******** in WWII, learn to history. Your delusional if you thought America did most of the fighting in the Pacific, typical American. You lost all credibility when you dropped the bombs, killing thousands of innocent people... but you're an American, so you probably enjoyed it.
Your military has no honour and deserves to be executed for the crimes they committed through out their pitiful "history." Especially those in the middle east: Invade an innocent country and kill its population indiscriminately, you should be ashamed.

You are an example of what is wrong with the world, and your "Country" does not deserve to exist.
#544 to #521 - anonymous (12/11/2011) [-]
are you retarded?? not only are you a troll and some jingoistic dick judging from your name but in case you have not noticed Japan had no intention of surrendering to the terms the Allies wanted and an actual land invasion would have cost upwards of 2 million. so to prevent more allied losses we bombed the hell out of them. now was it right to kill civilians? of course not but it was necessary so we did it. We made that decision because we had fought the majority of the Pacific front and we knew how desperately the japanese fought.

You are an example of whats wrong with the world, dumbass, and your "Life" does not deserve to continue.
