"Kevin, are you going to stand or not?"
"Nope"
"Well, guess who I'm going to go get?"
"A veteran in a wheelcha-"
"A VETERAN IN A WHEELCHAIR! Now class, keep standing while I run to the veterans hospital."

Ok so what do you think of people who came here illegally but later on became a citizen? Do you hate them?
User avatar #743 to #735 - lenus (10/19/2011) [-]
think about it... the USA is the land of immigrants. the REAL americans are the Indians
User avatar #821 to #743 - drunkensailor (10/19/2011) [-]
Actually sir, I believe who you are referring to are the ones called "Native Americans," which in retrospect doesn't make much sense to simply call them "Native Americans," as everyone born in the U.S. is technically "Native American," and therefor "REAL" Americans (also including Canadians, Mexicans, and everyone in South AMERICA) just not the casino owning type. But, yes, the U.S. is the land of immigrants, and it was, and still is, immigrants who built this country. However, most people who come here under illegal circumstances don't become citizens, and the minority who do...well good for them. Also, referring to your second comment about your patriotic family, I have one too. My Great-Grandpa served in WWI, and my Grandpa served in WWII, and while neither of them lost an arm in battle, my grandpa (my Great-Grandpa died before I was born RIP) taught me to love and support my country.

Strangely enough from the words of eric cartmen, What makes this country great is we can go to war and still have people protesting the war, So we can attack people and not seem like a bunch of war hungry savages, Its called having your cake and eating it too.

You're totally right, but we still have legitimate reasons for war, even if the price is much more than how it started.
User avatar #419 - Xaldyn (10/19/2011) [-]
Maybe Kevin is not American? Maybe he is an exchange student or moved to America? If I was one of those, I wouldn't stand for the pledge either.
User avatar #425 to #419 - pompuspig (10/19/2011) [-]
its called respect , they dont have to say it but standing would show they respect out country
User avatar #428 to #425 - Xaldyn (10/19/2011) [-]
Standing would show they have a problem with sitting. You can be respectful while being comfortable.
User avatar #434 to #428 - pompuspig (10/19/2011) [-]
standing for a minute or two is uncomfortable ?
User avatar #437 to #434 - bandkidsunite (10/19/2011) [-]
Yeah, especially for most Americans. Plus if you're already comfy why get up?
User avatar #438 to #434 - Xaldyn (10/19/2011) [-]
For some people it may be. I'm not saying it is for everyone, but perhaps it is for Kevin.
User avatar #445 to #438 - pompuspig (10/19/2011) [-]
its kevins reason for not standing im tryin to address
User avatar #463 to #445 - Xaldyn (10/19/2011) [-]
Well... he is a fictional character in a comic made for a message... Kevin's reason for sitting is to make the comic work. Doesn't really need addressing...
User avatar #475 to #463 - pompuspig (10/19/2011) [-]
but from experience many people are like kevin
User avatar #497 to #475 - Xaldyn (10/19/2011) [-]
So? That doesn't mean they all harbor the same reason for sitting.
User avatar #258 - themotherland (10/19/2011) [-]
Damn, America really could have used Funnyjunk during the Cold War, considering the massive amount of propaganda that passes by this site. Chill, Americans, you're not the only ones to have ever fought a war.

I don't think the point of the picture is to imply that only Americans serve their country and are injured in battle. I think the point is to show that when you don't even stand for the pledge, you dishonor the memory of those who died just so that it could exist and you could have freedom to say (or not say) it.

**** you. its our right in this country to stand or refuse to do so during the pledge. To force someone to pledge is considered illegal, as is a teacher discriminating against a student for choosing not to stand during it. This cartoon gets a point across, yes, but its' wrong in so many ways. If you hate that kinda kid, you must not realize the many reasons he might have for not standing.
For example, if you are a christian, Jesus banned giving pledges to any nation. If you are not christian, saying "under God" may bother you. If you are uncomfortable with any of the multitude of problems that the US has caused in the world, you also may not want to pledge yourself to it.

You hate this kinda kid? I hate people like you.

User avatar #571 to #95 - arsonance (10/19/2011) [-]
technically the pledge is (if i remember right) illegal because it infers that we all believing in god (i sure as hell don't) and such... and that goes against an amendment or two and perhaps a CDV
User avatar #880 to #95 - dbrak (10/19/2011) [-]
yes, but i can truthfully say the true reason the majority of kids wouldn't stand is because they're too lazy and would sooner play a race or religion card than exert the effort to stand on their own two feet.

The Pledge of Allegiance of the United States is an oath of loyalty to the federal flag and the Republic of the United States of America, originally composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the pledge in 1942. Back in the day we would say it before class now people have bitched about it having god in it and bitched about other things and since we have to please every one these days instead of telling them to STFU and deal with it you don't hear about it anymore people these days are forgetting the past
