proove me wrong, i'm all for it.

But we all know that their songs are 10% stupuid intro that is like a minute long, 10% verse, and 80% chorus. thats not real music.

Shinedown, all the way, with Disturbed on the side, and a sprinkle of of A7X (But only a few of there songs) may be enough to save you from your musical blasphemy.

I like some computer made stuff too (can you say dubstep? lol) but only a very VERY select few kinds.

Name 3 FF songs that are good.
(Btw, this is a trick question, because there are none, but go for it anyway, i want to make a point.)

Shinedown is ******* awesome as well. still foo fighters is awesome.
i can say dubstep, but i like to call it computer made ****, because that is what
it is. requires no skill to make. btw, dave grohl is a musical genious.

Ok, all my life, last one then you can all bring the rain of red thumbs lol.
Right off the bat i'd like to say that the chorus repeats 9 times. NINE!! that's the worst one yet!! each chorus is 10 seconds, and there's nine of them, so that's 90 seconds.
and what abut the part that goes:
"Done, done; on to the next one
Done, done, and I'm on to the next one
Done, done, and I'm on to the next one
Done, done, and I'm on to the next one

Done, done, and I'm on to the next one

Done, done, and I'm on to the next one
Done, done, and I'm on to the next one
Done, i'm done, and I'm on to the next

Done, done; on the next one
Done, I'm done; i'm on to the next one
Done, done; on to the next one
Done, I'm done; I'm on to the next one"
This part, and i swear, i don't even know how you don't rage when you hear it, is a full 50 seconds long, all by itself!! the song is only 4 minutes and ten seconds long, and this is nearly a whole minute of it!!! so... whatever you call this part, with the chorus, adds up to 141 out of 250 seconds. that's 56%, more than half the entire song is nothing but repeating, and that's not even including any verses that repeat, or however long the intro and outro are, or any other pauses between lines that are characteristic of the foo fighters.

I feel like now I'M starting to repeat, because each of these posts is like the same thing, because every ff song has all the same flaws. its juts not good music, and the only possible way to defend your position of saying its great music is that "Some people just like it."
I'm sorry, but i will NEVER acknowledge FF as a legit band.

ok, now for the pretender, one of my MOST hated songs by them :)

Have you ever bothered to actually listen to this song? at all? lol
the song is 4 minutes, 30 seconds long. the chorus goes:
"What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?"
just these 4 lines of the song are 10 seconds long.
Do you know how many times they repeat in the whole song?
Eight times. the whole song is 270 seconds, and this is 80 of them. that's nearly 30% of the song being chorus.

there are MORE parts that repeat, specifically the lines:
"So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?"
Which appear twice in the song, and each is about 15 seconds. add 30 seconds to the total chorus, so now we're at 120 seconds out of 270, which is about 45% of the song being chorus.

Verse one is a full 50 seconds, and i do actually like it, its clever and it doesn't repeat that bad.
Verse two is 25 seconds, similar to the first, but different enough that i wont complain.
The bridge/verse 3 (not sure what to call it) is 20 seconds.

So that's 95 seconds of verse, including the bridge if that's what it is (I'm assuming this because each ff song only has two verses) so that's 35% verse, 45% chorus/repeat, and 20% intro/filler instrumentals.
A good song should have a healthy balance of verses that vary throughout the song, then one chorus per verse, a good bridge and then another good chorus or two, but it SHOULD NOT REPEAT. that says to people like me that they don't know how to do anything else but repeat lines to make a song. and you should NEVER have 4 chorus's in a row like this song has.

Also, this song has a line that i like, it goes:
"Spinning infinity, boy
The wheel is spinning me
It's never-ending, never-ending
Same old story"

Never ending-never ending. SAME. OLD. STORY.
That's what this song is, as well as each song they make. same old format, never ending repetition of lines, until infinity.

Dear rosemary

intro: 30 seconds, similar to Everlong and nearly every other song the have. slight repetition which could have been fixed if he had more of a clue about good music.

Now, for this song id like to look at the composition of each verse and the chorus and any part of the song that might be set aside by itself as a chunk of the song that goes together. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. whether it be a verse, or the chorus, or the bridge, or the intro is basically a relatively good sound, THAT REPEATS. instead of stringing them all together in a musically pleasing way they take chunks of music that sound good, extent them so their song is long enough by just repeating, and then put them together with minimal transition between each part.

Enough said for this song.
(Also, i'll admit that there were more verses to this one, but they were all shorter in length, and there was an equivalent shortening and increased amount of the chorus, so it doesn't matter. its the same as the other two.

Walk:
Intro: better, only 1 seconds, slightly repetitive but not long enough that you would notice.
Verse one: six lines
Chorus: six lines
Verse two: six lines
Chorus: six lines

So far, not terrible, except that there is hardly any variation between verse 1/ch 1 and verse2/ch2, which is the mark of an average composer, who is afraid/unable to mix things up, keep it lively, and keep it fresh.

The instrumentals are ok, and i like the change between v/ch1 and v/ch2, but within each verse and chorus its like 3 lines that seem ok together, and then it repeats that sequence. a good verse should be comprehensive yet unique in each line.

Now the bridge, i suppose it would be called. same flaws as i said above. do you hear the drums? what are they doing the whole time? the SAME THING.

Then of course aftert hat there's nothing but more chorus.

seeing a trend?
every single ff song has a:
- boring intro
- one short repeating verse
- chorus
- second short repeating chorus that is almost the same as the first, so it might as well be another chorus
- more chorus
- MAYBE some sort of bridge, which repeats within itself too much
- and then more chorus x3

Ok, you get credit for Everlong, that one grew on me, its in GH world tour. The thing is, the lyrics are soo... slow. plus, its like 38 lines total, right? V1 = 12 lines, V2 = 6 lines (SIX?! what is that? that's not a whole verse.), and the chorus makes up the other 20. is that a good ratio? I'm not convinced. Ok, so the intro. 32 seconds? of boring intro? the whole song is about 4 minutes long, so 30 seconds out of 4 minutes is like 1/8th, which is a little more than 10%. Verse 1 is 20 seconds of lyrics, then another 10 seconds of painful repetitive instrumental, (Which i don't count as part of the verse) and then another 20 seconds of verse that sounds REALLY fricking close to the first part. so that gives you 40 seconds out of 4 minutes is verse 1, except verse 1 is REALLY almost two verses with no chorus between them. so far that's like 16% of the song. (Keep in mind there are only two verses. unless you count the first one as two verses, in which case there are 3.) second/third verse (depending on how you look at it) is again, 20 seconds. so TOTAL, there are 60 seconds of verse in a 4 minute song. that's 25% verse (which i'll admit, is not the 10% i said each song had) but then that means that there's still about 65% of the song left, and since there is no more verses, there can only beeee.... you guessed it, CHORUS!!! as well as repetitive instrumentals, and maybe one good solo. NOT a great song in my opinion.

I'll do the other songs you listed next if you care to stick around, but this is my main point, that each song is like this.

And stuff like Dubstep does take a lot of musical skill, its just DIFFERENT kinds of skill. like, go ahead and try to make some of your own, i promise you either wont be able to do it, it wont be ask good as anything you would like listening to, or you'll have a really hard time of it.

Dude, im not sure why you evenwith care about how many lines there is in the verse/s. The lyrics are good, makes sense and the songs is catchy. So when we are at it, Shinedown is a lot like... one of their most popular song , Simple kind of man, is the same thing as you just listed. but it is still a good song. Call me, same ****, just not long intros , and contains a bridge. I know a dj or what u call it. ''Autolaser'' As you have the right software. i Disagree with you a lot, Foo fighters is awesome. Btw, that counting of yours, doesn't decide if it is a good song/band... millions of people disagree with you.

i know they do, and more power to them, I just happen to be outspoken and really don't like the foo fighters, and this is why.
Simple man has never been a favorite of mine, besides, i thought it was a cover oh well. and call me is OK, but not great, same as the crow and the butterfly, but each shinedown song has one thing in common. they have SOUL., a sort of energy that gets into you, and really affects you.

And my counting is to prove a point, which is that all music should have certain things, shouldn't have others, there are GUIDELINES for good music, and the GREAT music stretches them as much as they can get away with while still sounding fluid and coherent.
The foo fighters have one recipe, and a bunch of cookie cutters that they stamp out songs with. that's not real music.

Yes simple kind of man is a cover, but it is a damn good song, But Brent has such a powerful voice which fits the song amazingly good. Im really into, Acoustic music, and i pretty much like everything with Shinedown, but as well i love FF, reasons : Both bands have good vocalists, Good lyrics/deeper or whatever, none of them is afraid too scream outloud in a genuine rock/hardrock song, they kick ass live. So according to what you said earlier, Queen - We will rock you fits that description. you don't like that either i guess ?

No, im not a fan of that song, for that very reason lol. BUT some songs i will listen to and endure the parts like that i cant hate because the actual verses are genius, like in We will rock you.
I'll admit that FF's guy has a good voice, and i don't doubt that he has skill, and I've never seen them live (Nor am i ever going to) so i wouldn't know. Shinedown however is AMAZING live. and yes, it's like Brent's voice is is perfectly tailored to the song or vice verse.
Its just the structure of FF's songs is poor, and its not in small amounts either, its like they don't want to experiment at all or something.
but whatever, as long as people like them they'll make money and people like me will hate their guts ^.^
