hey thickness. the light from something that far away would take about 2000000 years to travel that distance to reach earth so by the time we spot it, it may already be gone. All we really see is what was there and the light it emmitted at that time.

Hey, ********... 1,000,000 light years means light would take 1,000,000 years to travel that far. And, he is not using it in the context of time.
