No, 2(4x) = 8x. The number outside of a parenthesis is assumed multiplication. I cant remember why. but it works for everying, even if it was 2(4x+1) it would = 8x+2.
well first of all, u changed the addition sign to a multiplication sign, and second, the parentheses are unneeded since the order of operations says that multiplication and division are done before addition
