Flying a chopper in GTA V the first time. ...and the second time, and the third time, and the fourth time..... Back then in GTA IV, the cars felt like driving a boat. Now it's with the choppers. But who gives a , there are still planes

I hate when people use this phrase... IT WAS REALISTIC! Cars don't drive like they do in GTA V, where you can go at 250 KM/h and brake in 2 seconds, or turn like your car is glued to the ground. I just... UGH. I have nothing against i just hate the new driving in GTA V.
User avatar #157 to #143 - cyoar (09/30/2013) [-]
the driving in GTA 4 was realistic, but it was so realistic it was annoying
User avatar #158 to #157 - biggydy (09/30/2013) [-]
That's just something people who sucked at driving in GTA IV say. In GTA V you can't even drift, because the cars are glued to the ground.
#161 to #158 - cyoar (09/30/2013) [-]
when im playing a game like GTA i want the driving controlls to be simpel so that i can concentrate on more shooting while driving, and who gives a **** about drifting!? this is GTA not NFS, if i wanted a realistic driving experience id play gran turismo
User avatar #164 to #161 - biggydy (09/30/2013) [-]
But it just feel wrong, because they added all these things to make the game realistic, like turbulence, less health so you die with 2-3 shots, or how you slow down when you walk on mud, and then they put this arcade driving. It's annoying, but i guess people like it.
#166 to #164 - cyoar (09/30/2013) [-]
to me it was pretty good choice, R* knew what could be done realisticly and what not, in my opinion, the driving in GTA4 was annoying in got in the way of the main point of gta, causing mayham. but i can see how some people can like it
#177 to #158 - bagguhsleep ONLINE (09/30/2013) [-]
The driving in GTA IV, despite being realistic, was bad. It was too slow and unrewarding for the effort put in (which mostly consisted of half-pressing the brake button at all times), and is even worse when you consider the portion of the game spent in a car. The only positive side of it was simpler drive-by mechanics, which was really just an offset of the slow, monotonous driving it extends from.

And don't even try to tell people that you could drift in IV. Using the handbrake there meant very briefly skidding along the ground before immediately regaining traction or risk having to spin out, and it could only be done at slow to moderate speeds. You would lose considerably more speed through drifting than you would through slowing down and turning anyhow. Good drifting mechanics in IV were best left to popping your tires and strictly using the sultan rs.

dude, I drift all the ******* time...do you even know how to use the handbrake?

And if you think that the driving in GTA IV was more fun and less annoying than the driving in GTA 5, then let's make sure you are never put in charge of a driving game. ever.

Watch some gameplay videos and see how they drive, you will get an idea of how it is. The game is awesome, i just hate when people say that the driving is good and better than GTA IV
#162 to #155 - twentyten (09/30/2013) [-]
I don't think it's better, and it's definitely not worse. It's just different. Rockstar was going for an arcade feel for GTA 5 and implemented the good car mechanics from their midnight club series.
User avatar #165 to #162 - biggydy (09/30/2013) [-]
That's another point of view, and i can agree with it, but like i said before, they added so many other things to make the game realistic, and then add this arcade driving, it just feels wrong.
#167 to #165 - twentyten (09/30/2013) [-]
What exactly did they implement to make it more realistic?

I know I am gonna get hated for this, but I don't see how flying a helicopter in GTA V is difficult, all you have to do is hold down the left stick up or down and also hold down R2/RT.

If your flying skill is low it's slightly more wobbly than if the skill is high. I was sort of expecting it to be more like GTA IV, but it didn't take me long to adjust.
