If you're NOT on some sort of government watchlist by now, you've been living a boring life.

I think the NSA should be a thing and I somewhat support what they do.

Lets not kid each other. FSA (Russia), MI6 (UK), MOSSAD (Israel), DCRI (France) and many others do what NSA does. Only difference is, NSA was incompetent enough to hide what they are doing, and had someone who was ready to be a whistle-blower.

To some point; gathering intelligence for foreign and domestic threats are important. Though the funny thing is; when something becomes "undercover" or some-what "black-ops", there are no accountability. So, one way or an another, such agencies are to gather intelligence and counter-intelligence for domestic and foreign corporate, legit Government figures, et cetera.

Meh.

Oh god. Shut the **** up about this.
Just because you became aware of it does not mean it hasn't been happening for well over 10 years. Has it affected you at all? No? So shut up and move on.

*Over 40

And it's gotten worse and worse recently. Not to mention that being proactive about these things is incredibly important. No, it has not personally affected any of us, but that's the point. It needs to stop before it does.

Also it seems a little silly to me that we prosecuted Nixon for the tiny bit of unwarranted information gathering he did which affected the election, but none of the other presidents which literally had access to the entire nation's records, phone calls, emails, etc. Which happen to include the other candidates, but even if they didn't, don't you think that's a little bit of an unfair advantage?
