He replicated a famous piece. That doesn't make him an artist. That like saying the monks who copied out the bible are artists. No, this guy is just a ******* awesome engineer.
#37 to #33 - amuzen (08/31/2013) [-]
Artistic
also saying someone isn't doing art because they're just replicating something else is like saying that every painting drawing or whatever that's not taken from imagination isn't art because they're just copying real life, it takes a lot of the same skills to draw a person as it does to draw a picture of a person, I mean it's a little easier on account of the fact that pictures stand perfectly still but so do people posing for paintings so whatever.
User avatar #42 to #37 - spearpwi (08/31/2013) [-]
I'm not denying his skill as a painter, or whatever the hell you call this, but the fact remains that he didn't have any part in the creation of the original master piece. Being able to create a drawing from someone else's work is a far cry from being an artist but it does make you an awesome painter, musician, sculptor or whatever, if you're good at it.

It's not like he copied it exactly. It bears a resemblance to the Mona Lisa, but it obviously looks different.
It's like a decent cover of a song. The foundation is the same, but it's able to stand on its own right.

i would love to see your rendition of the mona lisa
User avatar #91 to #68 - spearpwi (08/31/2013) [-]
You mean you'd like me to put a pixelated version of the Mona LIsa (no doubt copied off a digital image) into a CAD program and then put it through that awesome machine? Well I ain't an engineering major so I can't. Seriously, your argument is about as retarded as it gets. I never said it wasn't impressive, I just said it wasn't art.

you fire before you aim? that explains a lot...

Imperial Guard artillery does not aim, it merely points suggestively before flattening continents.

shut your mouth you ignorant dubbed watching pleb
User avatar #96 to #84 - srapture (08/31/2013) [-]
He's right, you elitist sub-reading cunt. When anime is only subbed, I'm perfectly happy watching it like that, but the English voice actors aren't as bad as people like you like to think, and if your first language is English than it's only logical to watch it with English voices. Also, "Art is a blast" comes across as Deidara trying to say "Art is really fun!". It doesn't sound very good.
#126 to #96 - vicdrucker (09/02/2013) [-]
No, the dub of Naruto Shippuden IS **** . I have watched it quite a bit. And as for your point on "Art is a blast!" That's the whole point, it's double entendre mother ****** , it means both that it's an explosion AND that it's fun to him. And that's how I read it and saw it first. So that's why I'm asserting it as that.
User avatar #103 to #96 - anonywolftroll (08/31/2013) [-]
But I do watch it subbed (I always do), and my first language isn't english either, just sayin'
User avatar #102 to #84 - anonywolftroll (08/31/2013) [-]
Oh and, I also read the manga, in english (sorry, I don't know Japanese ¬¬), and that's probably where I got "art is an explosion_" from.

i just wanna run around shooting smiles onto peoples faces. just BAM, and even though they're on the floor screaming and they're probably temporarily deaf and bleeding from the eyes, they'd have the largest black smile and a bright yellow face.

This would be a great way to get away with graffiti. Create the design at home, pack it in a van, blast a wall, then speed away.
