This isn't meant to sound like an "America, **** yeah" comment but are Americans/Canadians just better/more polite drivers than the rest of the world? Because **** like that never happens ever...

No, it's not that they're more polite - it's just that the police is a lot more present in the US and here in Western Europe than it is there. Also, people here all can afford getting a drivers license (i don't know about america, but here you have to pay around 2000 € including polyphase training), while a lot of people there drive without a license and proper training.

Ahh, that police presence is a good point. And in America there's no cost for getting your driver's license, you just have to pay for your behind the wheel training, which is usually managed by your high school and costs a couple hundred dollars, it's nothing really expensive. But yeah, back to that police presence thing, if you drive like an asshole here you WILL get caught within the first couple times you do it, depending on how heavily populated the area is.

yes, there are no douchebag drivers at all ever in the history of america. you have obviously never been to new jersey.

I actually have family in New Jersey and constantly visit there...my aunt there actually got in a really bad car accident recently cuz somebody hit her. Ironic. obviously America has bad drivers but nothing like what I hear goes on in Europe.

Ever been outside America?
User avatar #73 to #71 - mynameisfoo (08/23/2013) [-]
Yeah, I've visited Canada before and it was pretty much the same driving wise. However, then I visited France and the streets are lined with cars on both sides so there's only enough room for one car to drive through the middle of the street, and the people I was with drove really fast through it. I don't know what would've been done if we had came upon another car coming the opposite direction. Plus, it's custom for people to leave their cars in neutral instead of park when they turn it off so people can shove their cars forward/backward when they're trying to park in front/behind them (Or at least that's what I was told). To be fair, this was all by Paris, but even in big cities in America that doesn't go on.

So because they suck at driving in France, every other country sucks at it.

You sir, just gave me so much clarity and wisdom that I am going to hate on everybody other than America and Canada. Just like you. Thank you, Mr. Wise Guy.

You completely missed out on what I was trying to say...I see posts like this every now and then and people talk about how bad drivers are in THEIR country while in America yes we have bad drivers but it's nothing like I hear people describe in Europe. You, sir, are an idiot.

With your first comment you generalised the whole world by saying all other than USA and Canada sucked at driving. I'm just trying to maybe let you think out of those cynical thoughts of yours. Did you even think of Denmark, Sweden and Norway? There are plenty of countries in Europe who knows how to drive.
User avatar #83 to #78 - mynameisfoo (08/23/2013) [-]
Please show me where I said that, because I didn't. You're just coming off as massively butthurt because I asked a question. I said what I said because of what I've seen what people say about their own countries or countries near them, not what I think because France is the only place I'd be able to give a somewhat accurate decision on how they drive based off my own experience. I'm not being cynical at all, you just need to calm down.
