I've never had to wait for a clip to buffer in my entire life, is it really that bad?

Your entire life? Boy it must be fun being 6 years old, never having to deal with how internet used to be

Almost as bad as the amount of red thumbs you got.

He must be a Lithuanian fiber-optic internet whoring millisecond-loading god.

Lithuania has the fastest internet of any country, the US comes in like, 60th.

America is built mostly on copper cable because its electrical infrastructure is so old.

Many countries that had there electrical infrastructure built later just skipped copper and went straight to the good stuff. Smaller countries also have the advantage of having an easier time being rewired from copper cable to fiber-optic cable and what have you.

You have been learned today, go home and rest.

Are you from Europe? I've heard some parts of Europe have much less retarded internet than the US.

... As soon as another PC is being used or they turn on the god damn Netflix my bandwidth goes down the fking drain.
It's especially bad when listening to songs, you don't want your fking songs to suddenly stop do you? Or you know... Finale in some series you're watching and NOPE! TIME TO BUFFER ************ !
User avatar #15 to #9 - lavitts (07/29/2013) [-]
I'm gonna take that as an honest question.
Yeah, it's pretty bad. Especially when it's a great video and you wanna show your friends. Buffering can really kill interest.

I wouldn't say that good internet is a "rich people" thing...it's more about the location.

to be honest, living in an apartment building will more likely give you a better internet than living a house

Don't hate on him, his name sounds Finish, and if he's from Finland he has amazing internet like all other fins.

It's not that I cant afford better internet. It's that I CANT get better internet. There is only one provider in my area and it is 64KB/s DSL.

I am from Jersey (channel islands) and we pay that much for 16mb broadband. (~1.8mb/s download speeds) which frequently cuts out...

I pay about $20 less than that because I have 8mb...

I live in Norway, and I pay 75$ for 8Mb/s, and it is unstable as **** . Meanwhile in Tokyo, they're offering 2Gb/s for 50 ******* dollars.. **** it, I'm moving to Japan.

I am moving to Hong Kong at the end of this year and even the basic apartments have free 100mb broadband
User avatar #58 to #11 - Dap (07/29/2013) [-]
You don't have to be wealthy to have fast enough internet? I bet for like $50 a month you can get 35mb/s or even higher.
#59 to #58 - aglet (07/29/2013) [-]
That's $60 more than I have.
User avatar #60 to #59 - Dap (07/29/2013) [-]
Then you're not middle class lol...
#61 to #60 - aglet (07/29/2013) [-]
I can afford everything except luxuries.
User avatar #62 to #61 - Dap (07/29/2013) [-]
Alright fair enough I guess. Middle class is $25-100k per year, so I guess it's fairly diverse.

i assume you never had dial-up
User avatar #48 to #10 - ThatFatMummy (07/29/2013) [-]
I'm on dial-up right now, actually. Using AOL and all.
A good way to describe how long it takes to load a video, is that it takes 30 minutes of buffering for every 1 minute of video.
So to load 1:30 video would take 45 minutes in even the lowest of qualities.
#17 to #10 - anon (07/29/2013) [-]
*eye twitch* do not mention the evil one >< had dial up for years half an hour loading for a 5 minite video was ********
