Quiet, lesser being! You do not speak until your English masters tell you to! - The English as perceived to the Scottish Independence campaigners.

I imagine it would have been very awkward if it was a miscarriage

Speaking as an English citizen:
The news of late, today especially, has been dominated almost entirely by the Royal Birth, with the only real exception being mention of how uncharacteristically warm it is, as though the citizenry were unaware.
It seems that, as it was at the time of the Royal Wedding, our fair-weather friends in the US are collectively more entranced by this than we are - and my reaction to the latest from our own Royal Family, despite what my consistent capitalisation of the Royal Anything would imply, is the same as it was, is, and perchance always will be in response to the Royal News.

Do you think the Royal family should be turned into back to regular civilians and have their unwritten rights of freedom returned to them? Were there any polls about that?
#3 to #2 - dullsun (07/22/2013) [-]
I realise that this may not answer your question, but let me answer the question that I think you're asking: It's not that I want to see the Royal Family done away with, the points I was intending to put across were that I would like to see fewer news hours devoted to every time the Royal Gardener sneezes and that I am generally apathetic towards the Royal Birth and towards most Royal Occurences.
With regards to polls: The BBC in general do not issue any polls on matters other than elections, and I won't even pretend to care what approach ITV takes.
#4 to #2 - dullsun (07/22/2013) [-]
Having said that, the BBC has read out some texts regarding the Royal Birth to the effect: "Get over it. Everyone has babies. Give us the rest of the news."
User avatar #5 to #4 - apatheticalcare **User deleted account** (07/22/2013) [-]
Seems like the older generations care more about the Royal family than the new generation.
#6 to #5 - dullsun (07/22/2013) [-]
That's a fair assumption, good sir

I kept seeing signs everywhere saying "congrats to xx and xx for the baby" at first I passed it off thinking it was a family friend or something. As more and more kept showing I thought to myself "hmm, these people must have been quite popular"
MFW i get home and see they are the royal family

I have a feeling that this child will be a prick when it's a teen, a bit like a royal Justin Bieber. If this does happen I think it's fair to say that we should get rid of the royal family.

I would like to see what would happen if the child was mentally disabled, such as downs syndrome, if they would let it become king ( ******* hilarious option) or lock it away to die in the tower of London (Not the first time that's happened)

ouch, sounds bad man. did he make it up to you?
User avatar #112 to #108 - roflstorm (07/23/2013) [-]
In his words
And i ******* quote
"Well.........good luck kid", Puts his hand on my shoulder, "You're on your own."
"The only thing you're getting from me now is a roof over that dumbass head of yours"
"You want food, get it yourself. You want a bottle of coke, Go to the store and get your own..........I'm not paying for you anymore"
User avatar #113 to #112 - iamgriffman (07/23/2013) [-]
damn, sounds very harsh. i feel kinda bad now, my dad hasnt started treating me any differently.
although it would be nice to have some sort of job to atleast feel that i have some independence in what i do and what i buy
User avatar #114 to #113 - roflstorm (07/23/2013) [-]
Getting me a job is the only thing hes helping me with now.
If i want a drive somewhere, either i take the bus, buy a bike, or im walking.
After i get a job. Ill be a housemate.
He's harsh on a kid my age, but then again, hes had to singlehandedly deal with me and my sister for 14 years. So i guess its reasonable
User avatar #115 to #114 - iamgriffman (07/23/2013) [-]
it does seem an ok thing to do in a way, trying to force independence on you, although if you were in deep trouble im sure he'd help you out.
it does though seem harsh basically saying your on your own from now on.
i remember my dad telling me his dad got him to move out at 16 into his own place, it gave him alot of independence.
User avatar #116 to #115 - roflstorm (07/23/2013) [-]
Back then, im assuming, was back in the 80's or soemthing. When the economy was good and you can get a job and a house in a snap. But now......
Nobody is hiring and even apartments are quite expensive. 870$ a month for rent was the best i could find
User avatar #117 to #116 - iamgriffman (07/23/2013) [-]
very true with that, but then again being unskilled back then meant no real jobs and in the part of london he was from. the price of living has gone up alot. it would be a good idea to share a place with others and split the rent

Today my sister excitedly called from continents away just to tell us that the royal baby was born. The rest of the family and I came to the conclusion that she had nothing else left to live for.
#19 - holyshizle (07/23/2013) [-]
It bothers me that some people take this so seriously. And by this I'm also talking about celebrities and their children. Aren't there better things to be concerned about?
