the ball wasnt always shaped like an egg. and it is no longer shaped like an egg. the ball was reshaped to make it more aerodynamic for passing and chaotic on the bounce.

I love it when people get upset over posts like this.

Guys, Soccer was a term first used by Britain, okay? Do you comprehend this information? They called it soccer, we started calling it soccer, they started falling it futbol (Is that how it's spelled?) and we kept calling it Soccer. Neither is wrong. Neither is right.

No, we never changed it from soccer to football, we used soccer as a nickname. Its official name has and will always be Association Football. I have no problem with people calling it soccer, but to say that soccer is its correct name and football isn't is retarded.

I believe kickball is an American game which is similar to baseball but there are no bats involved and you just kick a larger ball before making the run. I might be wrong about that though. I've just seen bits of it on things like The Simpsons.

The funny part is that I can call all of you dumb, but I won't upset as many people and get as many red thumbs as the guy who disagreed on what to call what happens to be the most boring sport ever (though I could be kinda biased; I suck at sports).

Exactly my thoughts. I really hope Kagawa can live up to his full potential, but we still need a class winger to be able to win the treble. Anyways, Ronaldo was a huge inspiration for me before but now Nemanja Vidic has become my biggest source of inspiration as I'm a centerback myself and I'm still trying my best to become a great player some day.

Delighted by the fact that I'm actually discussing football on FJ, cheers

Too bad with Kagawa, I though that he would fit in right at the moment, but that hasn't been the case, same with his colleague Nuri Sahin, so failed at Madrid. So you play football? I played a few years back, I sucked at playing it, but I had good stamina and was good a destroying the game to compensate it, so it wasn't too bad.
I really like players like Vidic too, he's a fighter, and there aren't a lot of them now a days. And always nice to discuss football with someone, cheers to you too.

Kagawa hasn't been bad, per say, it's just that injuries has been bad for his season.

Yeah I currently play for a Division 5 team in Sweden, but I'm 15 years old (16 soon, hehe) and if things go my way, I want to try my luck.

And I guess I'm a bit of a fighter, too. I started playing football a couple of years later than my friends so to compensate for my lack of ball control, I used my big size to my advantage. But I stopped growing and developed in terms of skill, so I'm an 184 cm, rather agressive centerback at the moment. Things might not go my way though as I'm joining the IB program for High School (year 10-12) and it's allegedly rather tough, with a lot of homework.

Injuries and moving to a new country didn't help him, that's for sure, but such players tend to bloom after a year. I know a guy who plays for the u-21 team for FC København, and he's taking some kind of education like that now, so it's just as hard as you make it to be, it's just hard at trying to do everything, and that's why you'll not be able to do some things that you used to do. All the best for the future, I'm going to bed now and goodnight.

He's not trying to. British came up with the word Soccer so deal with it, we're using their word not ours.

No, as an American I truly believe the name soccer given to a game that consists of kicking a ball around with your foot is just retarded. We have football, and American Football. There is no soccer in my opinion.

I'll never get why some people call it an egg.

It's far from egg shaped, and the definition of ball does not state that it has to be perfectly spherical. It's still a ******* ball.

It seems closer to the shape of an egg than that of the typical ball, a sphere

seeing as the Japaneese created Soccer in 1100 (ish) and the "modern" game of "football" came around the same time as American "football" with no definite date for either, or year for that matter, you have no basis for that statement. Therefore, **** you.

i think the word foot and ball is older than the word "Soccer" and is more logical. like Handball, basketball.

But as usual, the americans are retarded just like they were with the measurement system, the date system, the temperature. and call a game football where you run around with an oval ball in your hands.

"Therefore **** you" as if he had anything to do with the word football

The British invented the American measurement system (which includes the temperature, FYI) and the date system is used logically in America due to the way that we say the date. For example, we say July 9th, 2013, so it's logical for us to write it that way. If you didn't know, the British didn't abandon the Imperial measurement system for the Metric one until very recently.

You're the ones that came up with the name "soccer", I dont know why you insist on putting that on Americans.

Soccer is short for Association, as in Association Football...all terms that the Brits started.

Thats right! However, while i do realize everyone else in the world calls the game football; i choose to refer to the game as soccer. I reserve the name football for what the rest of the world considers "american football." I hope you respect my right to do so.

We call it 'football' because the ball is exactly 1 foot from point to point. I call soccer 'footie'.
