This clearly belongs in **** at that lock picking speed.
User avatar #13 to #1 - msypsylon (07/02/2013) [-]
Not really, it's just because that's a very easy lock to pick. Most springs are not that easy to block and usually you have to take them one by one.
User avatar #5 to #1 - php (07/02/2013) [-]
Right? This ****** makes it looks so easy...

It is not.
User avatar #12 to #5 - ctenop (07/02/2013) [-]
Well, on small padlocks it is, Tried picking a 5 pin euro tumbler, after 20 minutes the bolt slipped, yet I can pick a pad lock (well, rake) in about 2 seconds...
User avatar #137 to #12 - php (07/03/2013) [-]
Oh man I hear you. I locked myself out of a cottage once and it had 4 pins. I picked it in 3 seconds with a rusty nail I found on the ground, lol.

Then my friend locked himself out of him room at college, that ****** was 8 pins. Tried for an hour got nothing.
User avatar #6 - fantomen (07/02/2013) [-]
This is a technique knows as raking a lock.
And let me tell you why you shouldn't be worried by seeing this.

Firstly, the only locks that are this fast and easy to pick are REALLY ****** cheap locks, so unless you bought your locks at the dollar store it will have security pins in it to prevent it being opened this easily.

Secondly, unless you lock is very well oiled and perfectly working this will take a few minutes to do, and it makes quite a loud rasping noise so you would probably hear it.

Thirdly, very very few burglars actually bother to learn how to pick locks.

They just kick down your door or break through a window instead which is much easier and faster. Sleep right knowing that the cops will take at least 10 minutes to show up even if you have a top of the line alarm system.
#31 to #6 - anon (07/02/2013) [-]
I was taught this was called scrubbing, but same thing, I guess.
#65 to #6 - anon (07/03/2013) [-]
And this Is why I sleep with a metal baseball bat and three knives at my bedside (guns are ******* expensive)
#93 to #6 - undeadwill (07/03/2013) [-]
I make sure everyone knows where I live and that I'm insane and will more likely rape you than kill you right away. None of it true but it keeps me safe.

I don't need friends I have the internet
#98 to #6 - newborn (07/03/2013) [-]
i have a window held in with an Allen wrench. i think the lock would be the least of my worries
#100 to #6 - anon (07/03/2013) [-]
That's why we have guns, pepper spray guns, and two very large dogs.
User avatar #127 to #6 - whtkid (07/03/2013) [-]
Everyone's saying what they have for all this top of the line protection and weapons, and here I am with nothing but my pillow.
User avatar #16 to #6 - thisotherdude (07/02/2013) [-]
This is why I own a rifle, who needs an alarm when you have some good ol' 7.62x39 rounds?
User avatar #81 to #16 - nightmaren (07/03/2013) [-]
7.62x39 Rounds won't save you from being killed in your sleep, friend.
User avatar #88 to #81 - undeadwill (07/03/2013) [-]
Then what will?
If the alarm goes off the cops won't get there in time, and if you are asleep doesn't ******* matter what you do.

Your ******* dead kiddo.
User avatar #89 to #88 - nightmaren (07/03/2013) [-]
Yeah rip
#86 to #81 - anon (07/03/2013) [-]
Yeah, you're definitely not going to wake up when someone is beating your door down.
User avatar #87 to #86 - nightmaren (07/03/2013) [-]
There was no setting supplied. His comment didn't mention windows breaking or doors being knocked down anywhere in it.
Most people don't break into houses at night time anyways.
#91 to #87 - anon (07/03/2013) [-]
The guy he replied to said "They just kick down your door or break through a window instead which is much easier and faster."

Which was what he was replying to, so it's not a stretch to infer that's the situation in which a rifle would be useful.

So i guess he won't have to worry about being killed in his sleep if most burglars won't break in at night anyways.

User avatar #83 to #81 - baconbaconator (07/03/2013) [-]
It's not like you're going to sleep through a burglar kicking your door down or crashing through your window.
User avatar #46 to #16 - savirleo ONLINE (07/03/2013) [-]
You can set up an alarm system to go off, but not call the cops. Plenty of time for you to hide the body

User avatar #41 to #29 - toncheky (07/02/2013) [-]
No, it's a specific order in which they lock into place, it's basically trial and error until it's unlocked.
User avatar #40 to #29 - smittywrbmnjnsn (07/02/2013) [-]
No.
You'll be hard pressed to actually feel the difference between the springs.
You want to try them all, front to back several times, until it unlocks.
User avatar #55 to #40 - Nitsuin (07/03/2013) [-]
Even still doing that is a pain in the ass. The post above is the best and fasted method of picking a lock. This one on the other hand is usually a waste of time.

My first playthrough I used lockpick as a major skill. I was dissappointed by the uselessness of it after getting the skeleton key
#26 to #23 - mreggsalad (07/02/2013) [-]
I actually got rid of my skeleton key. I liked having an unbreakable masterkey, but it took all of the fun out of lockpicking. I just gave it to Martin for Blood of the Daedra.
