Same here, we were 42 people when high school started (1st semester), now we are just 24 people (4th semester) and for the next semester we are just going to be like 13 people, it seriously makes me sad and pissed because that demonstrates that my class mates doesn't gives a **** about school...

As much as I'd like to disagree with you, and believe me, I do..
That's sadly not true, at least they're not literally retarded, they do have proper brains in their skulls but their mentality is just complete garbage

User avatar #122 - murrlogic (06/13/2013) [-]
You will never believe me if I tell you this but before my graduation we had a raffle A ******* RAFFLE and the 2 lucky contenders were the ones who got to give an acceptance speech while the rest of the graduates had to fade in obscurity in the background

Also our gowns couldn't be any more pathetic. since my school was poor we were able to get everyone's height requirements BUT not the weight so everyone was wearing gowns two sizes two big

They also came in this disgusting puke green color.

I was the only senior who decided not to walk graduation at my school, I always thought it was a waste of time.
User avatar #87 to #39 - brenton (06/13/2013) [-]
I didn't really want to at first, but it really did feel great to get a little recognition. It really did offer some decent closure to the hell hole that was high school. You definitely missed out.
User avatar #101 to #87 - nocturnalemission ONLINE (06/13/2013) [-]
We did have an assembly on the last day of school to say our goodbyes, we had a rally for prizes, had a video about the seniors, talked about the highlights of our four years, even had a cook out, and for the first time I actually cried tears of joy.
That was enough for me, I didn't want to sit through some boring ceremony.
User avatar #40 to #39 - spankyy (06/12/2013) [-]
I didn't want to, but I couldn't afford to move out on my own at the time, and my mother said she'd throw me out if I didn't walk. I don't think she really would of but since it seemed to mean so much to her I figured I'd just go through with it.
User avatar #43 to #40 - nocturnalemission ONLINE (06/12/2013) [-]
My mom wanted me to do it too, but she didn't want to force me to go through it.
My aunt bribed me $2,000 for education, even my counselor bribed me , but I still said no.
My other relatives were glad, because it meant they didn't have to sit through hot weather and a boring ceremony.
User avatar #45 to #43 - spankyy (06/12/2013) [-]
Luckily mine was inside a closed stadium. So it had air conditioning for the actual ceremony. It was only hot when we went outside afterwards to find each other and leave.
User avatar #46 to #45 - nocturnalemission ONLINE (06/12/2013) [-]
Just a thought, but did you have an 8th grade graduation ceremony?
User avatar #48 to #46 - spankyy (06/12/2013) [-]
My middle school didn't have one no. Only ever had my high school graduation.
Also, didn't think to mention it before, but was the 2000$ meant to be spent on college? Wish I was bribed with 2000$ for graduation lol.
User avatar #50 to #48 - nocturnalemission ONLINE (06/12/2013) [-]
The money was for some Blackhawk classes I'm going to do for welding.
Blackhawk is kinda like a community college.
User avatar #51 to #50 - spankyy (06/12/2013) [-]
ehh, still 2000$ less on college. I've had to take loans and nothing else since my parents make too much money for me to get grants, and not enough to help me pay for college. So 2000$ would have been 2000$ less I had to spend on school, but different circumstances so I suppose I understand turning it down.
User avatar #53 to #51 - nocturnalemission ONLINE (06/12/2013) [-]
I'd say I'm pretty lucky to be where I am today, but I wouldn't say privileged, it kind of helps to be in a town that's just starting to turn into a decent sized city, and with parents who have really good budget plans.
So I'm happy working for my **** , and the way things are rolling so far.
#100 - John Cena (06/13/2013) [-]
Damn, so many people here think that graduating high school is the most single importent thing in this world. and if you don't pass all your subjects you are a retard.
Let me tell you, it doesn't mean you're a retard if you don't graduate high school.
People that graduate can be a lot more retarted than the people that don't graduate.
So many people here are living in a bobble, i see not a lot of you go out a lot.
Thinking that the first years of school, even before 20 years old is the most importent thing in your lifes and that it decides your life forever.
inb: "O U DUM FUK, U DIDNT GRADUATE AND U MAD HAHA.
i did graduate and i do think so, i know many people who graduated barely that are much smarter than people who graduate with the best grades in the school or some **** i dont know.
You having "good grades" doesn't mean you are smart.
User avatar #106 to #100 - mrtwilightsparkle (06/13/2013) [-]
Okay, number of problems here.

While you do have somewhat of a point, it is still important to graduate seeing as someone with college experience will get the job over someone who doesn't have it, and to get into college, you need to graduate high school or pass a GED. Even then, someone with a high school education will receive a decent job, whereas someone who drops out of school is incredibly limited to anything they do, as most companies have a policy requiring you to have a GED to either get a job or promotion.
Not to mention, graduating seems incredibly important to people because it is what they have been working for, for 12 of their 15 cognizant years, so it's practically their entire life. So relatively speaking...
Yes. Graduation is one of the most important events of a young adult's life.

Sources: This guy's lack of the ability to spell.
#109 to #106 - John Cena (06/13/2013) [-]
So you are saying you can succeed in like if you don't graduate ?
Thats a pretty bad statement.
And i didnt say anything about collage, collage is impotent, i was talking about high school.
User avatar #112 to #109 - mrtwilightsparkle (06/13/2013) [-]
I may be wrong, but most, if not all colleges, require you to pass the GED. And it's not that you can't live if you don't graduate high school, but no, you really can't have a decent life, because businesses either won't higher you, or they won't give you a good enough job to actually allow you to live. You can't even manage a fast food restaurant without graduating.

And anyways, college* helps you communicate with people through writing, debating, and speaking, two of these things you are clearly not good at.
#117 to #112 - John Cena (06/13/2013) [-]
School does help you to get a better job but there are many people who didnt graduate and have good jobs as artists, musicians, film makers, etc...
It is a more difficult path and more risky because if you wont succeed at what you do you are screwed.

What i am saying is that schooling is a safer path than risking it on something else, but you can make it and get a good paying job.
User avatar #118 to #117 - mrtwilightsparkle (06/13/2013) [-]
Name one artist, director, or musician who did not graduate high school.

For one, directors actually DO go to college, because they need a degree to be directors. The knowledge needed to make a film doesn't simply appear out of nowhere.
User avatar #124 to #118 - lolmonade ONLINE (06/13/2013) [-]
Again, i didn't say about about collage, collage is important.
You need to login to view this link
Here you go.

A top comment in the site that is very interesting "When one of my students bring up a successful drop out, I say to them "Its one thing to drop out because school is getting in the way of your success, it's another to drop out because you just don't like it"

But again, its still very risky. i didn't drop out of school( although because i really wanted) because i didn't have any alternative road to take, i stayed and finished it.

No, it can mean you know how to sit on your ass and read something and remember it really good but after the exam forget about it and move it like it never happened, then not remember a single thing of what you have learned.
But not always, some people have good grades because they are smart, not everyone.
You can have good grades but be such a dumb ass about life and everything and not even understand it.
