Because graphical power = gameplay.
Are you ******* stupid?
Yes, the graphical power of the Ouya is not up to snuff with current gen consoles. But by no means does that mean the games will be bad. In fact so long as developers stay away from realism they can make some pretty good looking aesthetics. And out of the 130+ games that will be on it on lauch, I guarantee you that some of them will be good. And I'm not even talking about the ports of already successful games coming to it.

The thing is that it's slower than most highend smartphones
User avatar #19 to #15 - themaaster (06/08/2013) [-]
Here's the thing the Ouya is a device that is dedicated to playing games, while a android phone will (like a pc) have multiple things going on in the background. Because of this the Ouya put out 2x the graphical power of any phone that has the same tech. Now granted the tegra 4 is 6x the power of the tegra 3, but we are only paying $100.

hey bitch get your facts straight: not one of my written 11 words is "graphic" or "graphical power"

look at this and tell me its fun to play (not because of the graphics but because of the cheesy dialogue and the ****** up combat system) and there are more games like this then games that make fun. its okay as an emulator for old gameboy games or consoles but thats it.

have fun with your hipster/indie console faggot
User avatar #27 to #17 - huzibizi (06/08/2013) [-]

Way to judge the entire console on a few games.
Maybe this is more up your alley, granted it's only an update vid and not the full product: www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=oRDg69LIBtg
Or here is a list of games that should be good. I'm looking forward to Legend of Aethereus myself

I think the only somewhat entertaining games will be the final fantasy remasters which will be released.

As I've played them on my NDS some years ago already, I doubt that I would have too much fun replaying them on the OUYA though.

Well, gonna save my money on a PS4, I guess. Depends on its features, of course... though I doubt that it could be any worse than the XB1...
User avatar #46 to #18 - Neodude (06/08/2013) [-]
The Ouya is a bit of a running joke from what i heard through a decent amount of the games industry. As Opa put, it's basically a "hipster console."

A couple years ago I tried to develop a game of my own (I'm a C/C#/SQL developer full-time). In the end, I didn't have the dedication to see it through, which I regret. Maybe one day I'll get back to it.

What America needs is to get back to the hard work ethic that got us to where we were post WW2. Maybe enough gamers will get fed up with the rehashed, unfinished slop put out by the fewer and fewer companies, that they'll get fed up and make one themselves. After all, you can't have a hero without a villain.

Considering what comes from EA, and what will be out on the xbox one, I'm not convinced a 10 year-old with the dedication and focus to create a video game will be any worse.
User avatar #33 to #32 - swiftblood (06/08/2013) [-]
true lol

for 100$ it might not be bad, its more like being able to play all kinds of random games on the tv with a controller, might be worth it to me for the emulators, n64 back on the big screen + any of the gems it might get from indie developers, lot of free games and all have free demos

like a toy console

While EA does do bad, they still turn out quality far better then most every day people can build. Yes there are those few with the dedication to make something good, but there is a limit to how much dedication can do compared to proper experience and knowledge.

i liek this platform, it lends variety to an industry that lacks this. With the xbox one basicly KOed and Nintendo not having any plans to make a hardcore caming consol, really the only viable options for consol gaming in the future is the PS4. I''d like to see some more competitors. the emulator on that shist is dank.

Hey! Nintendo is doing **** with the Wii U. They have a lot more third party support than they did with the Wii. I've used the gamepad, and it has a lot of possible uses, that if they work out, it'll go swimmingly. They will/do have a bunch of games that i'd think you'd consider hardcore. While i admit it isn't near the amount that PS4 would (No Dark Souls II, etc.) The Wii U has potential, and i sure as **** am having a fun time with the Wii U.
User avatar #91 to #86 - likeabosslikeaboss (06/08/2013) [-]
by hardcore i mean designed and marketed for gamers who predominantly prefer high graphics quality better processing and interactive multiplayer games. such as halo call of duty and battlefield, skyrim, bioshock. these arent who nintendo sells too, nintendo sells to the family and child unit. I love nintendo and cant wait for the new pokeman and smash bros games, but i spend more time on my xbox.
#95 to #91 - anon (06/08/2013) [-]
Same Anon. I fairly disagree that most FPS's are any sort of hardcore game, but i suppose you're entitled to your own opinion in that.

By your definition, Wii U does have hardcore games. Monster hunter is a pretty interactive multiplayer. (high graphics, it's processing is actually kinda fast as **** ). They have complete support by ubisoft, all of their multiplayer stuff. I think EA is on board with them, so those are more games. They aren't Uber targeted at family and child either. There's more well known M-rated games than there is below M. So at least at this point.

And i am going to admit. At this point they have practically no games. What they do have though, IS fairly good.

Also, you say interactive multiplayer, then list 2 games with none. Just saying.

I really hope the Wii U gets more esteem with the gaming community.
User avatar #103 to #95 - likeabosslikeaboss (06/09/2013) [-]
your points are valid, i still beleive that nintendo in general is not marketed towards the same group as xbox and ps3 are. an example is the controler, its not designed to play FPS or other such games, although the WIIU has stepped up on graphics and processing power its not on the same plane as the next gen. consols, its for casual gaming and the most notable titles of the previous and current Wii systems have not been hardcore games.
#45 to #38 - Wiingreen (06/08/2013) [-]
I wouldn't call the xbone totally KO'ed yet. Microsoft is working hard on securing some exclusive titles, which is what sells systems.
But their marketing is ridiculously bad.
User avatar #50 to #45 - likeabosslikeaboss (06/08/2013) [-]
microsoft IS working realy hard. I read an article on reddit talking about how microsoft is paying people to go on content sharing/social media sites like reddit andfunny junk and post good comments as well as down thumb anything negative and thumb up anything positive about the xbox one. They are also paying developers for PS4 games to not announce or show their games at E3 claiming it will be exclusivly Xbox one games being presented.

Its an Internet-based, basically open source console.
Its a cube, about 5 inches on each side, and it uses internet to get all its games.
All games are free to try, and it comes with its own developing software, fairly basic, but enough for a person who wants to code a simple game.
The games it has now are fairly obscure, something I expect more on a mobile phone than a marketed game system.
But it has potential.

$100 android based console.
Every game is "free to try" (some games free-to-play, some go the TF2 route, some you have to buy but there is a demo)
Every console is a dev console, so everyone that owns a ouya can also make games for the ouya.
It's also been design so that people can easily open it up and modify it.

Now granted it's $100, so don't expect current gen graphics. It's cheap, easy to use and no ******** .
