I honestly didn't even know there was an ammo shortage. What's causing it?

Panic buying for the whole ban thing, also the DHS bought 1.6 billion rounds recently.

the government in the U.S is trying to buy as much ammo as they can to try and keep it out of the hands of the american people

Panic after hearing about new bans on "assault weapons" earlier in the year. Folks with guns buying up every bullet, shell, and charge in sight. All I'll say about it on here, lest we have a ********* on our hands.

There is only a shortage on 9mm, .223/5.56, and .40 S&W because the DHS is creating an artificial ammo shortage on top of the already high demand. Just google DHS bullet purchases. My buddy has an AK and he's still buying ammo for nearly the same price and in bulk because the DHS can't buy rounds for guns they don't use.

That is what I've been hearing. A news station had an interview with a local police station in my area, and they said that they can't even train people with live ammo as the federal government has been buying up so much of it that they can't even find the ammo they need. I really dislike this DJ 4DM1Nistration on so many levels on their domestic policy.

I haven't had a problem getting .22, .223 has been a pain in the ass. A store near me carries it but limits everyone to one box per day but at least that keeps the price down

every time there is a gun ban people panic and rush to buy as much ammo as possible because gun shops don't normally sell ammo for banned guns

That and somewhere between every 10-15years, all the federal agencies put in their resupply orders at the same ******* time. Also, recently talking to the owner of my local funstore, the distributors are holding back as well to jack up the prices from the increased demand.

They still sell as much ammo as they always do, but they can't restock quick enough for the demands of the crazy ammo buying.

Tanner Foust did the stunt driving for this. He also did the stunt driving for a lot of the scenes in Tokyo Drift.

Is the ammo shortage genuine? or is it artificial?
genuine meaning demand far higher than supply.
artificial being supply kept low to increase profits/sell old stock/government induced.

Also, does the DHS buying a **** ton of high precision, high penetration ammo have anything to do with this?

Government started buying out a few different calibers, so people started buying up that and everything else.

I've started to speculate that it may be a way for the government to force people to spend more money. It's not like I'm against having more ammo lying around, but it feels like we're being led along.

There's no .223 anywhere in New England. Even .22 is getting a little rare. People are grabbing up whatever they can find.
A friend of mine decided to order a case of .223 online from an ammo manufacturer. Took him 6 months to get it.

I know a guy with well over 600lbs of ammo, and he never shoots either.
If I need something I'll just call him up and ask nicely and he'll usually hand over a few boxes free of charge.
