Yeah, let 343i make a Halo game in under a year so it can be a launch title for the Xbox One, that's ******* brilliant.

It only took 343i like 7 months to listen to their community and start fixing the game.

I think it'll be the same as with Reach and Halo 4.
Halo 4 was already 2 years in construction when Halo Reach came out.

Was it really that bad? I didn't bother trying to play it.
User avatar #21 to #16 - motherfuckingkenji (05/27/2013) [-]
No, it wasn't bad, it was awesome. In fact, for multiplayer, I think it's the smoothest and most balanced Halo game so far, and I usually hate multiplayer in games.
The campaign was way too short (my friend and I beat it in about 6-7 hours on launch day), but it's incredibly beautiful. Like, the best-looking campaign to date. There are many first experiences for a Halo game, like flying a Pelican (legitimately).
A lot of people thought the ending was incredibly sad, but I thought it was stupid as **** . Frankly, I thought the whole emotional ******** they were trying to push onto us was terrible, but not bad enough to make you want to stop.
The Forge is great and easy to use once you get the hang of it, and while they had to exclude certains things such as a Race gametype to save space, there are "workarounds" like special KOTH gametypes. My only problem with Forge is if you make a map that is entirely made out of Forge pieces including the ground, it will cause noticeable lag, but not enough to make it a problem (unless you're doing system link and most of the action is in the middle of the map, then it's almost unplayable unless you stay around the edges of the map).
There are way more options in Custom Games for you to mess with, like Ordnance "weight" (how often something like a Sniper RIfle will appear as a choice when you get Ordnance). There are even modded gametypes you can download from people. My favorite is a form of Regicide (Juggernaught) where the person in the lead becomes a 50-foot Flood with massive amounts of health.
The music is fantastic. While it's nothing like Marty O'Donnell's work, it's still great. Every time I get to the end of the Death Star-esque chasm run on the last level when you get through the tunnel and out into the large open area, I still get chills when the music perfectly transitions into something more dramatic.

So, even if I wasn't a huge Halo fan, I would still highly recommend it.
Don't listen to faggots who say it sucks.
User avatar #22 to #21 - motherfuckingkenji (05/27/2013) [-]
A few things I didn't mention:
The armor choices for multiplayer and such look great. Though they don't really look like you would expect Spartans to look like (what with the visors that make no sense. I could understand the Gungnir helmet in Reach, but this **** is ridiculous), they at least make you feel like you're playing something very sci-fi.
Speaking of "game-feel", because of how prevalent Forerunner stuff is in the game, everything kind of seems inspired by that design style. Like you can totally tell that Knights, Light Rifles, Battle Rifles and the armor and whatever were designed by the same group of people. Everything just "feels" futuristic and science-fictiony. It's great.

So there; that's everything I can think to say about this game. As I said, I am a huge fan of the Halo franchise but I tried to be as objective as possible here.
Also, here's an amazing remix of one the best songs on the soundtrack: youtu.be/qS_3GEdXvPQ

How do you think that the emotional ending was ******** ? The metaphor of man and machine inter-weaved with the John and Cortana storyline was brilliant. It turns out Cortana was the true human as she was the one to develop emotions and morales, while John had been trained to become a smooth running killing machine. Together they made a powerful person. SPOILER ALERT (should have played by now if you were planning to) When cortana dies it leaves a mechanic husk of master chief, lacking that true human spirit, which is so sad. This left a powerful ending IMO

> most balanced Halo game so far
How? The DMR, Boltshot, and PO imbalance this game to a point that wasn't ever reached in previous games
>There are way more options in Custom Games for you to mess with
They actually cut options from the game, most noticeably the ability to customize the Flood's loadouts, killing a lot of potential infection gametypes. The removal of even more gametypes was entirely unnecessary

The game itself is decent, but isn't up to snuff with the other Halo games.
User avatar #70 to #66 - motherfuckingkenji (05/27/2013) [-]
I say most balanced because the DMR is way too slow to be as effective as a BR or even the Carbine, the Boltshot was considerably nerfed (kill range was reduced from 25 feet to 15(or something like that)), and... what do you mean by "PO"?
I'm not entirely sure they cut the ability to change Flood loadouts. I've seen Flood wielding all guns, though I could tell they weren't supposed to be able to as the big blade arm was clipping with it. Maybe they did and you can only give them guns by modding?
The removal of gametypes was necessary to either save space or because they weren't popular enough. I know I almost never played Race so I don't even miss it.

While I consider the multiplayer to be the best (or at least my favorite when it comes to Matchmaking) of the franchise, I kind of prefer something like Halo 3 for campaign because it had this over-arching feeling of epicness. Or possibly because "The Covenant" was the greatest level in the entire franchise and nothing can even compare. It starts with a squad of Pelicans and friendly super-sexy cloaking-enabled GREEN Phantoms set to the song "One FInal Effort" which is my favorite Halo song, you start with a Splaser, there's AA-Wraiths you can take, a section just for Hornets in mid-air combat, a Scorpion/Gauss Hog section, Hornets VS Scarabs with a better version of "One Final Effort" (BEST PART OF THE FRANCHISE), friendly talking Flood, not-so-friendly talking Flood, the neatest Easter Egg ever with the holographic ring-jumping (1346754654534 is the combination and I hate that I still know that by heart after all these years), just.... holy **** . That level, to me, is like the culmination of Halo perfection. I doubt either Halo 5 or 6 would produce something even close to that level of awesomeness.
User avatar #71 to #70 - nathanbiggs (05/27/2013) [-]
>I say most balanced because the DMR is way too slow to be as effective as a BR or even the Carbine,
Have...Have we been playing the same game? The DMR in my Halo 4 has a quicker kill time than any headshot weapon besides the scoped in Light rifle
> the Boltshot was considerably nerfed
Unless they nerf the boltshot down to a mauler, i'll always consider it overpowered. You shouldn't be able to spawn with a one shot kill weapon.
>what do you mean by "PO"
Personal Ordinance.
>I'm not entirely sure they cut the ability to change Flood loadouts.
Last I checked they hadn't updated that in yet, the game doesn't have the options to change the Flood's loadout's by default. Modding is the only way I know to give the Flood weapons, and that's not acceptable.
>The removal of gametypes was necessary to either save space or because they weren't popular enough. I know I almost never played Race so I don't even miss it.
Race was extremely popular in Reach, the file browser was filled to the brim with different Race maps. The race community thrived in Reach, it was far from popular. To also not include Invasion was a slap in the face to the entirety of the Halo population. Invasion was the most promising gametype to be in a Halo game so far, it doesn't deserve to die with Reach.

I agree with the campaign part.
User avatar #76 to #71 - motherfuckingkenji (05/27/2013) [-]
I have extensively used every weapon in Matchmaking and I just... I just don't like the DMR. It's way too slow. Sure it's the most powerful per shot, but I would take a BR over it any day. Also, I hate the Light Rifle; it's slow and underpowered for me.
Yes, the Boltshot is still overpowered in the hands of someone who can use it properly, but it was still nerfed. Most of the games I play, there's maybe one person who ever uses it so I never considered it to be an issue.
I don't think Ordnance is much of an issue. I feel it's one of those things where as long as everyone can use it, it doesn't unbalance anything. Sure if someone is just a god with, say, a Railgun and they get it in a drop they can get in some great kills, but there's so little ammo available to it and other Ordnance weapons that it's only a small boost to your score. I mean, I know that might be enough to win the game for your team, but still...
It's been a long time since I've looked at the settings for Flood. Then again, it's been quite some time since I've seriously played Halo 4 at all (I've mostly been playing X3.)! I'm sure I remember being able to change Flood loadouts in an unmodded gametype, but if not, oh well, I'm wrong.
I'm just saying I wasn't too fond of Race. There were probably many people who loved it, but I did not.
I forgot about Invasion. I absolutely adored invasion and I definitely played my share of games on it. I remember one time on Spire my entire team left after the first round and I, being stubborn and refusing to EVER leave a game early, was left to capture the core all by myself. I managed to win 3/2 only because half of the enemy team were AFK thinking it wouldn't matter and they would win anyways and I had to shoot down one asshole in a Banshee with nothing but the Magnum I spawned with.
Remembering that Invasion existed, I agree that it sucks that they cut it. I really hope they bring it back in a future update or Halo 5 or 6.
User avatar #78 to #76 - motherfuckingkenji (05/27/2013) [-]
Oh, and if you want overpowered, try the Needle Rifle from the Reach Beta.
It had incredibly high DPS and even if you didn't get all headshots, the 3-shots-equals-supercombine would kill them. With 100% accuracy, one mag of 21 rounds could kill 7 people.
I remember I would camp in the middle of the map with that thing only dropping when I needed ammo and just get kill after kill.
I didn't even help my team capture the core at all besides just pick people off that were chasing the carrier.
I had a K/D of about 80-0 with that thing. It was absolutely ******* ridiculous.
But the screams and tears of anguish from the children on the other team were well worth it.

I'm glad they nerfed the **** out of that thing, though. It would have sucked ass in Matchmaking otherwise.

Activision has two different devs working on Call of Duty, starting production before one another's release. I enjoyed Halo 4's quality, I think MS knows that splitting 343i would downgrade its quality by a bit for a rushed sequel.

Treyarch is one of the companies that works on the Call of Duty franchise. It has 250 employees.

Infinity Ward is the second company. Right now, they have 150 employees (over 200 before a large group quit)

Now, MW3 and Ghosts was co-developed by Sledgehammer games (120+ employees) and Raven Software. (51-200 employees)

343i has 340 employees (we're gonna say they have 343 employees, because why not?) If they split that **** up, that's 171.5 employees. Which means they'll have to cut someone in half to work on each team.

So, could they do it? They might. I don't know. I enjoy the quality of their products now, and Halo yearly would suck.

Talked about similar functions as well, but actually gave us some ******* demos.

Square Enix though, pissed me off with giving a ******* Tech demo they showed months back and just told everyone "BE READY FOR E3!"
Then decided to tell the world that NOW the PS Vita will actually be more focused on with the coming of the PS4 when it has been released late 2011-early 2012 with almost no great titles and not so great sales. I've never been one for Microsoft products to begin with, but this Xbox one makes it seem like EA has taken over Microsoft.

Every system ever will be hacked. It will be emulated. People will pirate your games, ESPECIALLY if you make it more difficult for the user to play the game legit. I've bought almost all of my games, but after buying some of them - I actually downloaded pirated versions just so I could play the full game or be able to tab out properly, or even simply be able to use custom-player made content(the main reason I enjoy PC gaming to begin with). The worse you make it for your user, the more often the user will either simply NOT buy it, or just pirate it.

Affordable games, Affordable system, these are the best way to better your system. People don't want a Blu-ray player, If they did they'd buy a ******* blu-ray player. We don't want Tevo on a video game system. Not looking for a way to update facebook while on my game. I don't even use these social networknig sites. I want to pop in my game, and ******* play. How hard is this for companies to comprehend? We have 12 other things in our house connected to the internet to do other things - those are plenty.

Alas, this generation of gaming will probably be one I'll just be sticking to my PC. No need to spend $500 on a brand new system that'll be completely obsolete in just few years.
#222 to #72 - thenewneone (05/27/2013) [-]
Believe it or not some people might like those extra features.

I think you should wait untill more and backed up information comes up, before following the "omg xbox 1 is gay" bandwagon, to make a educated decision.
#226 to #222 - ainise (05/27/2013) [-]
If you don't show your outrage now, how will the company be aware of the issues you have with it? In any case, this entire generation seems like it's going to be more overpriced systems inflated by things that have absolutely nothing to do with gaming.

If I wanted a computer, I'd get on my computer. I buy a video game system to play a game, and even the xbox360/ps3/wii seem to be missing this little gem. The next gen is seeming to shape up to be even worse. Watch E3 and you'll see the shift from gaming to hardware. I don't give a damn about the hardware if I'm not invested in the game.

I'm just disappointed with the direction that consoles have gone, that's all.
#227 to #226 - thenewneone (05/27/2013) [-]
You don't even know 100% how the xbox 1 is going to be like when it's completed so why are you showing outrage at what isn't there?

You don't know 100% how your days going to be, but if you start it off in a hospital bed in a cast, I imagine you're going to be a little pessimistic.

These companies listen to your feedback, however they get it. Maybe some guy agrees with what I'm saying here and parts of it is relayed in his message that somehow reaches Microsoft. Maybe it just gets a few nods of agreement.

I don't understand people like you: I simply can't grasp it. Why would you want less discussion on anything? Your words all lead towards you wanting me to stop talking about it. You're not trying to prove me wrong or anything - just shut me up. Whether you like it, or hate it, there's really no reason to not want discussion.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Microsoft is doing all the wrong things at the same time, and us consumers will be blamed once the sales figures hits the fan. I personally boycot EA games and advice everyone I know to do the same until they fix their broken-ass business model, and this is going to fall under that category. I like the IP Microsoft got for their console, more so than Sony, as I liked the 360 way better than the PS3 due to OS and controller layout. I will happily support Microsoft as well, but as it stands with the console now, unless they remove that ******* HAL 9000 they call Kinect 2.0 and other consumer-hostile functions, I will not give them a dime and I will actively redirect consumers into other consoles.

People. Do not buy, or you agree upon this insufferable incompetence Microsoft is showing with this console.

have you seen these posters around the cycle parks to stop people from stealing bikes? they are just like the posters which say "Big brother is watching you" from 1984

Guys it's simple, M$ releases the xboxone to increase sales of the xbox360

**tcbhale rolled a random image posted in comment #338521 at Ponyville ** but misscalculated and increased the sales of ps4 instead.

I found out about this new thing you can do, and I'm going to try it.
ready guys?
ready?
get ready
here it comes

You can not buy it.
#102 to #24 - widsquard (05/27/2013) [-]
Buh-But that would be logical! And that's not possible on the internet
User avatar #26 to #24 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
So why can't we make fun of it too?
User avatar #27 to #26 - deathcampforjewtie (05/27/2013) [-]
You can make fun of it, just make jokes, not half-hidden complaints.
User avatar #28 to #27 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
And what's wrong with complaints? Why is saying "I wanted it to be good, but it isn't" forbidden?
User avatar #29 to #28 - deathcampforjewtie (05/27/2013) [-]
I never said it was forbidden.
But whining nonstop about the ******* console is ridiculous.
Or do you always cry this hard over spilled milk?
User avatar #30 to #29 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
....you said in a very sarcastic manner that we should stop talking/"complaining" about it.
Nobody's "whining nonstop", there's a few posts that make fun of it in humorous ways.
No need to be so hostile.
#31 to #30 - deathcampforjewtie (05/27/2013) [-]
Avert your eyes.
Whining does nothing to help anything.
And this is all I've seen on FunnyJunk lately.
It's like the Kitchen Nightmares thing, only that was funny.
User avatar #32 to #31 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
It isn't "whining". It's making fun of it. How hard of a concept is this?
If this is "all you've seen on funnyjunk lately", then maybe you should stop clicking ONLY on posts that are about the xbox one.
User avatar #33 to #32 - deathcampforjewtie (05/27/2013) [-]
If I stopped clicking on Xbox One posts, I'd be staring at the home page for a week and a half.
User avatar #34 to #33 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
Exaggerate all you want, you have nothing meaningful to say. You tell ME to avert my eyes, but you're the one that's now whining about all the xbox one posts.
User avatar #35 to #34 - deathcampforjewtie (05/27/2013) [-]
You're even whining about that, huh? It wasn't tailor-made to your liking, I'm sorry you can't resist buying every new console that comes out.
User avatar #36 to #35 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
Except I've never even bought a console before. Just accept the fact that you're the only one whining here.
User avatar #37 to #36 - deathcampforjewtie (05/27/2013) [-]
Everyone on here is bitching about it kid. Step carefully so you don't trip over your massive ******* ego there slick.
User avatar #39 to #37 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
No. AGAIN. There is a difference between whining and making fun of something. You are the biggest hypocrite I have ever seen if you say that I have too massive of an ego.
User avatar #40 to #39 - deathcampforjewtie (05/27/2013) [-]
keep going, please, this is hilarious. I've never seen someone make such an ass of themselves.
User avatar #41 to #40 - gammajk (05/27/2013) [-]
Mhm. So now instead of actually providing any arguments for your position you resort to ad hominem. Well done.
#423 to #40 - onceapiece (05/27/2013) [-]
gammajk is right you know. I've been looking at the front page for the past few days at multiple times, and I haven't seen more than five posts that I can remember
User avatar #426 to #40 - wtfduud (05/27/2013) [-]
And there you went and wasted away all the green thumbs from your original comment.
User avatar #9 - belikea (05/26/2013) [-]
Well, E3's just around the corner, so why don't we wait until then to start bashing xbox about the lack of games, when we're sure it won't, instead of the debut of the console itself?
#14 to #9 - deadlyambitions (05/27/2013) [-]
the debut of the console blew lol
User avatar #369 to #9 - ishouldplayzelda (05/27/2013) [-]
well all we're going to see is call-a-dooty and fifa and madden 2017. i don't know what you're expecting
User avatar #11 to #9 - zotico (05/27/2013) [-]
I'm glad there are still some people on this site that think reasonably.
User avatar #17 to #9 - thisniggajeremy (05/27/2013) [-]
thats not the only thing wrong with it
User avatar #551 to #17 - belikea (05/28/2013) [-]
That's true. But maybe Microsoft heard everyone complaining, and didn't want to lose business. I only suggest this because they seem to be contradicting themselves about used game fees and the constant internet connection.
