I hate when people just make **** up and assume ******** rumours are true all the time.
User avatar #515 to #491 - thealmightybadger (05/27/2013) [-]
because a reveal TOTALLY just tells you the rumors that are going around
User avatar #522 to #515 - Omegashenron (05/27/2013) [-]
no but thatsd mostly all of the info that been confirmed and the rest are rumours that people hope arent true but assume that they are.
User avatar #545 to #522 - wacemindu (05/28/2013) [-]

Backed up with sources, its either confirmed by microsoft, or not downright denied by them (just as bad).
User avatar #548 to #545 - Omegashenron (05/28/2013) [-]
Thats a tumlr post and most of these sources are just randm articles.

The things im talking about are the counting people in rooms and fees to play used and borrowed games. It's crazy. A simple something(google) search would be good enough for all these rumors insteasd people just believe all the negative things about the console. It's only been announced for a week.
User avatar #549 to #548 - wacemindu (05/28/2013) [-]
The counting people in rooms through kinect has already been patented. That's affirmed by Microsoft. Yes it's not been been announced that it's built into the X1, but don't you think the very notion of the whole thing is quite sickening? What an invasion of privacy.

The fees to use borrowed games has also been affirmed by Microsoft. The only thing they're not definitive on is the price, the only rumor is that it will be the full price of a game.
User avatar #550 to #549 - Omegashenron (05/28/2013) [-]
Definitely I've seen the same reports on that. But If I had to guess it's not going to be active on launch or even soon after launch, companies usally require patents before the alpha stage of a product is happening. Plus wouldnt u say theres some way to fool it? If not Im sure it will have some sort of **** storm when it happends.

AS for the used games fee this is were I got my info.
User avatar #552 to #550 - wacemindu (05/29/2013) [-]
I realise that, my point is that it's a sickening idea, and whilst not really just in contributing toward the hate of x1, it is helping to lower the currently ****** image of Microsoft.

That article is old, came out the day after the release, there have been other press releases and interviews since then. You'll notice in the taking it round your friends scenario he didn't mention anything about gamertags. What's been revealed more recently is that you will be required to recover your gamertag at your friends house in order to play it (even offline games), so there is no LENDING your friend the game without the gamertag.

User avatar #475 - andriod (05/27/2013) [-]
I don't understand there logic.

Xbox is a gaming console that has done fanomally well over the years. Now lets make it watch tv, and movies, and controlled by a camera that sold terribly.
We'll make people pay if they ever want to use burn the game to another xbox, and require you to connect to xbox live every 24 hours

How can they possibly think people are going to go ape **** over this?

People complain a whole lot about the different things Microsoft seems to be forcing onto you, and ya some of them will suck, but after the transition I think everything will be OK. The game marketplace on XBOX will be more like Steam, which I think is actually pretty cool. Sure, you always have to be online, and sure you can't buy games used, but Steam has sales like 5 times every day, and they usually aren't that small of a price-cut, either. Don't expect to have to pay $60 for every game that comes out.

User avatar #466 to #447 - taintedangel (05/27/2013) [-]
It was designed as an al in one cable box first, then it had the xbox logo slapped on it and they let EA build the gaming part.
User avatar #435 - roakfurt (05/27/2013) [-]
I haven't followed the much about the Xbox One since launch except for the actual hardware, but the games being locked to your account sounds just like Steam games being locked to your account.
User avatar #455 to #435 - unikornanarkyh (05/27/2013) [-]
But those are digital. These are not. And Steam has a **** ton of sales. So it's okay.

User avatar #460 to #458 - unikornanarkyh (05/27/2013) [-]
Hey, if I can buy 800 games for a nickle, I will ******* do it.
User avatar #467 to #460 - andriod (05/27/2013) [-]
My issue with steam it that your not actually buying the game. You're buying the right to license the game. If they ever decide "Ow well **** you", they can stop you from accessing your games. It looks like this is going to be the future.

If I buy the game with my money, I should be able to do anything I want with it. ; /
User avatar #480 to #467 - animationhac (05/27/2013) [-]
Its the same thing with any MMO game... I don't see the problem.
Thats your own issue. If you dont want a 5 dollar game that you cant hack and do whatever you want with it. Go ahead and buy the 20 dollar game. I don't invest a lot to steam either but thats my own deal. There is things on steam worth to gamers that don't hack or what to screw up their account to make it banned. So buying 10 games for 15 dollars is worth it in the long run to them.

IMO. The purchases of xbox one is nothing like steam.
If you purchase a game on Xbox 1 you'll be purchasing it like any other game w/o the deals. 60 dollars for a game where as steam has a sale bumping it down to 40 dollars or less. You also cannot mod the game most cases since it will be on the console and it will be hooked up to the internet (to prevent people to hack/mod and to tell if they have).
I know that Xbox has 'deals' yet, they are mostly not for new games. New games wont see deals on Xbox marketplace for a VERY long time where steam sometimes has them a month after release date.
Logging into your friend's steam account is much easier than transferring a whole Xbox account too.
User avatar #495 to #480 - andriod (05/27/2013) [-]
Even if you are a "Modder", they still shouldn't have any power over what you do with the product after you own it. It's just a personal belief that is being crushed by DRM in the industry recently.

As an example, Look at the 3ds. You go out and buy one brand new, You go home and decide to " mod" it. They can remotely brick your system and refuse to fix it or give you your money back. You sit there **** out of luck because you did something to your possession that they don't agree with.

And you can honestly say that the xbox 1 is not like steam? It might not have the same deals and layout but everything I have heard about x1 paints it as Microsofts attempt at a steambox. Just instead of connctin to Steam servers, it goes to microsoft.
User avatar #500 to #495 - animationhac (05/27/2013) [-]
Steam has a bigger selection and more to offer than Xbox One will. It just shares the whole "I digitally own this" and you can purchase things through the market place. The hot deals won't be near as steams. Besides, what Xbox one has isn't new. Xbox 360 has a option of digitally purchasing **** and keeping it on console. They are just making it a pure digital console now.

I am not arguing with the whole "I bought it and its mine". I do believe once you buy it, you can do whatever you want with it so long as you are NOT messing with other's gaming experience.
However, once you buy their product you are accepting a terms of agreement (you know that little paper they have in your console box that no one ever reads?). Whatever they say on their terms is the golden rule. Once you break it, you are in trouble.
I have a modded Xbox (vanilla). I just cant hook it up to internet or have it fixed by microsoft. I do mod (not anymore though). I understand your point but there is Toxic Modding where you **** up other's game play.
User avatar #503 to #500 - andriod (05/27/2013) [-]
In that case they should just ban you from Multiplayer. Otherwise it would be terribly abused.

You originally said that X1 is not like steam, but the only thing that is REALLY different about it is that X1 won't have as many/good deals. Microsoft is basically trying to convert Xbox live into a steam-like service. Just like EA tried to do with Origin.
User avatar #508 to #503 - animationhac (05/27/2013) [-]
They only have one thing similar. One company pulls it off better while the other just has games to offer at same retail price online. Its very different with just the whole digital copy being able to purchase. We saw what EA did with Origin, it was horrible.

I don't have much say in what the TOA is. Its what the company does. Sorry.
User avatar #487 to #480 - jsrf (05/27/2013) [-]
So i should just buy/build a PC?
User avatar #493 to #487 - animationhac (05/27/2013) [-]
If you don't like the consoles that are out to offer but like the idea of a pc, yes.
If you don't like what it has to offer, don't buy/build one.
Honestly, I love console gaming and always preferred to have a controller in hand to play games like Bioshock. Since now you can have controllers hooked up to the pc to do just that, I am settling on pc gaming since I don't like any of the consoles coming out whatsoever. I'll just stick with my older consoles with my computer.

Chances are if you have a computer and you don't want to have the Xbox one or Ps4 but you want to experience most of the games coming out for it. Buy a PC. PC will have most of those games for purchase that you can play.
User avatar #470 to #467 - unikornanarkyh (05/27/2013) [-]
Oh! I am not arguing that point! If they have a bunch of sales, it will make it better (they wont). The used game market also makes me upset.
User avatar #481 to #470 - andriod (05/27/2013) [-]
I don't understand why Microsoft is doing so terrible lately.
First they start with Bing, Which is a complete flop, then the Windows phone, Not very successful, Then Windows 8, Which they are zealously trying to defend despite everyone hating it, and finally we now have the Xbox 1.

How can a Multibillion dollar a year, leader of industry company have so many failures one after another? Its trurly maddening.
User avatar #485 to #481 - unikornanarkyh (05/27/2013) [-]
I don't understand their mind. It is pretty bad. Apps, TV, sports. All they targeted at that conference..
What I love most, all the Xbox fanboys who said Bluray sucked. Ha.
User avatar #499 to #485 - andriod (05/27/2013) [-]
I Liked blueray.
Instead of having 4 disk you only had 1, and on top it would be alot more durable.
The only problem is that blue rays had longer loading times. Not a problem today.

It is ironic that you don't hear any bitching and moaning about that anymore. LoL
User avatar #501 to #499 - unikornanarkyh (05/27/2013) [-]
Thats what I am sayin' man.
Not a single problem.
Does Sony own the rights to Bluray?
User avatar #505 to #501 - andriod (05/27/2013) [-]
No, they were just the only ones who used it in a gaming application. It was/is usally used for movies because they can fit higher definition video on the disks.
Just one of those little suckers can hold nearly 50 Gb's of data.
User avatar #433 - Ottovan (05/27/2013) [-]
