yes because rugby is known for headbutting people in the stomach to take them down. the beauty of a proper rugby tackle is that it can take anyone down regardless of size or weight. dont want to sound like a dick but she clearly isnt doing it right.

Honestly couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not the biggest guy on the pitch (I'm a hooker), so form is everything and I've gotten been able to really knock around some guys who think size is everything.

I respect rugby players more than anything... they are bad ass. I am 325 lbs. and am one of the top recruits in the state of Idaho for football, I play defensive/offensive tackle. One of my football/wrestling coaches was a rugby player in college and I have wrestled this guy plenty of times and blocked him in football... he told me that he could easily take me down with a rugby tackle and I, being the cocky kids I was, told him there was no way. Needless to say I was on the ground hard and fast, I have nothing but respect for rugby players now.

Yeah she isn't doing it right, but it would also be nearly impossible for a ~150 pound woman to take down a 315 pound man. In Rugby they would both be in motion so it would be easier, but just standing like that, no way.
#27 to #22 - restfullwicked ONLINE (05/14/2013) [-]
its possible. its mostly about breaking their stance, if she pulled his legs together he would go from a strong stance to a week one in less than a second. with big or tall people its all about taking out legs. my sister is half my weight and about 2ft shorter than me but can knock me over just by tapping my feet.
its not easy but it can be done.

I mean I've played both rugby and football. I know what you mean, but also if that guy plays football he is probably an O lineman and he would have legs like tree trunks. His entire job is to make sure nobody knocks him over lol.

true but they are different skills. in football (or handegg as us filthy europeans call it) you are dealing with slow moving targets trying to push you, your job more often than not is to push back. Its not the kind of force that you are dealing with.
at the end of the day though this is academic since we are both agreed that dumb bitch dosnt know what the hell she is doing.

Unless you're Jonny Wilkinson trying to tackle Opeti Fonua

The gif is all cut and edited on impact.
She also uses her head to tackle, not her shoulder.
Women.

in rugby you tackle with your head. she's still wrong, as you're supposed to put your head behind your target, but she's only half wrong.

I'm guessing she didn't win a whole lot.

I play rugby and I definitely don't tackle like that....
#47 to #7 - coleshepard (05/15/2013) [-]
Yeah, I was wondering if anybody else noticed that. I have never played but have watched enough to know that is not how Rugby tackling is done.

My brain exploded, this guy plays on the team i got recruited for. He is a ******* beast.

Former football nose tackle and state champ rugby hooker here and I feel like this chick should know... you don't tackle with your ******* neck.
User avatar #32 - lolifan (05/14/2013) [-]
Well she might have been able to but her form is all wrong. She's way too damn for a tackle and it looks like she just rams her head into his stomach. If she actually played rugby at all, then she was just a bench warmer
#43 to #32 - John Cena (05/15/2013) [-]
No, not even with good form would she be able to. Contrary to popular believe, football players do learn how to block a tackle.
User avatar #44 to #43 - lolifan (05/15/2013) [-]
I never said they couldn't but she'd at least be able to move him more than an atom away from where he was standing. What she did was run head first into a brick wall
User avatar #20 - jokersaysamuseme (05/14/2013) [-]
If she actually played rugby she ******* sucked. Anyone who's played more than a week knows how to tackle better than that.

Women's rugby, more commonly known as "underwater rugby" because of it's speed compared to the men's, is a hilarious sport to watch. Even at the college level women rarely know how to properly tackle or ruck, the basics of the sport. I weigh 150 lbs and have had to tackle someone of practically the same weight as that guy. It was hard and I felt like **** after, but it worked. This girl just doesn't know how to tackle.
User avatar #53 - backupclover ONLINE (05/15/2013) [-]
She's retarded... because I know how to rugby tackle someone and she just headbutted his stomach. You put your head to the ******* side and grab around the waist, she must have been drunk.

I'm not particularly big or strong (I am quite but not particularly) and I can take down someone much taller/heavier than me pretty easily. It's all about technique. Obviously, being strong helps, but you can be pretty average and make good tackles by using the right technique. In fact, my friend is average height and yet he is one of the best rugby players I know. Maybe it's because he's ******* insane and charges into everything without a second thought.

I would say her technique of headbutting that guys chest, not so useful.
User avatar #14 to #13 - awesomanium (05/14/2013) [-]
Yeah, I cringed at the sight of that. If someone did that in a game they could get injured pretty severely if the other guy was running at you, rather than standing there waiting to get tackled.
