Must be pretty accurate without a barrel

If you're close enough to punch them, you don't need to aim.

the apache revolver is completely impractical. with no barrel, and no sights, its very difficult to aim. Also, it has 7mm caliber is not very strong, and with a very small size, it is fairly hard to maintain. the knife is pretty useless as well. While it is aesthetically pleasing, it is fairly impractical in real use.

Amazing, a gun you can't hit anything with, a knife you can't use as a knife, and brass knuckles that don't function as brass knuckles.

I'll take ten.

What if you were using the brass knuckles and you accidentally fire a shot into your wrist?
User avatar #28 - chuckbillrow (05/06/2013) [+] (3 replies)
the gun function would be useless unless the knife was in the person you were shooting at
no barrel = no accuracy
also no rifling = even less accuracy

Compare the size of the rounds(towards the top of the gif, to the length of the cylinder.

This is what's commonly referred to as a "pepperbox" pistol. The barrels are integral to the cylinder. In reality it would have accuracy on par(or less than) an average snub-nosed revolver.

Downside to pepperbox-style weapons include larger rotational mass, since you're having to turn not only the cylinder, but the barrels as well, and less accuracy due to the fact it's rather hard to put reliable sights on one.

Also, notice the rounds themselves. Those little pins sticking out the side. Those are an early self-contained metallic cartridge, called pinfire(obviously). The pin gets smacked by the hammer, which transfers the energy to the shock-sensitive primer. They fell out of vogue due to the fact you had to line up the pin with a corresponding groove in the cylinder to make sure it would get hit by the hammer. They figured out that hey, it's easier to put the primer in the CENTER so that it doesn't matter which direction is up. Just drop in and go.

All in all, it's a neat little piece. The ammunition itself is collectible, and individual rounds can cost anywhere from a few bucks a bullet to upwards of $100 a round due to things like rarity and popularity.
