Just saying here... 98% of the worlds population believes in some sort of a higher power where as only 2% of the worlds pop. believes in atheism. (gif somewhat related to evolution)

Atheism isn't science. Its just non-belief in a God.
Also, most Christians (Including the Pope) believe in Evolution and Dinosaurs.
User avatar #37 to #20 - andytang (05/03/2013) [-]
he just said that the fact that you can superimpose South America onto Africa the silhouette resembles a dinosaur as proof that they existed

1. that has nothing to do with science at all
2. it's clearly nonsensical and meant to be taken as a joke and start a ********* (hence the gif)

My *th grade teacher told us a story how some kid (not a former student) suggested that South America looked like it would fit along Africa's western side. The kid was then ridiculed for remainder of his academic career or something like that. Anybody else hear this story?

When was this supposed to have happened? Because if it was after the 60's then what the hell kind of dumbass school did you go to?

The fact that South America lines up with Africa is what gave Alfred Wegener the idea of continental drift in 1912, but it wasn't widely recognized by the scientific community until 1968. The theory of continental drift has been replaced by plate tectonics, but the Africa/South America thing still holds true, and I was taught this when I was like 12.

This is just some random story he dropped on us one day, wasn't part of the curriculum or anything. Was kinda funny at the time because according to the story the kid grew up to become a drug addict and eventually committed suicide.
