looks like the side of the head to me
User avatar #42 to #2 - callmemaybe (03/23/2013) [-]
kyokushin is a full contact karate style. kicks to the head are allowed.
User avatar #9 to #1 - thefurie (03/22/2013) [-]
it was more to the neck
User avatar #24 to #1 - jinjo (03/22/2013) [-]
Side of the head. the foot hit the bck, but the foot isn't where the damage comes from, it's the shin ti the whole side.
User avatar #61 to #1 - leown (03/23/2013) [-]
he put his down voluntarily anyways
#5 to #1 - bluebolt (03/22/2013) [-]
it depends on which style they are using. the style i know it is completely acceptable to kick the back of the head
User avatar #10 to #5 - mhden (03/22/2013) [-]
What part of it "a kick to the neck can kill you" dont your judges understand ?
Its Disqualification only because it is so dangerous .

Unless your are not talking about "SPORTS" but real martial arts .
#11 to #10 - bluebolt (03/22/2013) [-]
that may be true. and it is real martial arts. you must know complete self control in order for anyone to spar
User avatar #14 to #11 - mhden (03/22/2013) [-]
I have done some martial arts . Ninjutsu (thats what he called it al least lol .. more of a mix martial arts type , with different styles , from swords to hand to hand , to meditation , and learning of the body .. last one was the most kick ass .. after the first 5 lessons i was like "i didnt know my body could bend that way " , and to think that we were able to do all that when we were small but forgot how to when we grew up) and a litle Kick boxing , what i have notices .. most "MASTERS" dont teach proper self controll and people are getting injured for no reason and give up because of it .
User avatar #15 to #14 - joseburritogu (03/22/2013) [-]
The 2 in the GIF appear to be black belts.

No doubt a black belt knows self control.
User avatar #17 to #15 - mhden (03/22/2013) [-]
You will be suprised as to how many people without self controll make it to black belts .
Also we dont know what martial arts this is . Just because they wear black and white
doesnt mean they are KARATE .
And some martial arts dont even HAVE belts . In my case the Ninjutsu i did only had 3 belts .
White (until you have learned how to fall properly ) , Green(some times you never even get white ) and Black (if you can teach) .
User avatar #18 to #17 - joseburritogu (03/22/2013) [-]
I was mistaken, apologies.

At the very least though, the guy who did the kick seemed to have self control.

The other guy however, didn't. The way he sorta tried to "fall" onto the other guy while he was flipping probably wasn't a good idea.
User avatar #32 to #18 - mhden (03/22/2013) [-]
This is just my opinion . The other guy was expecting the kick to land of his soulder and ended on his head . Upside down kicks dont have that much force behind them . Thought they still have your full weight on them . So be sure that guy just took like 70 kilos ++ on his head/neck . That can easily be lethal .
As for the way the other guys defended (yet failed) , by "falling" over the other guy .
We are talking about weight here , he did the correct thing . He fall "over" his spin kick .
Remember that guy is in the air , he may have a kick of 70++ kilos , but no suport .. the other guy is using gravity and his own weight . If the kick had hit the shoulder , the other guy would not have (PROBABLY, obviusly there is a chance to fail at even that... and this is a split second disition we are talking about) fall . He would have stoud ground , and the other guy would be down ... and he would have fall over him .. and there is your lock .

IMO the kick was realy slopy ,he was just lucky and the fall was horible .

#112 to #32 - anon (03/23/2013) [-]
It isn't his weight that gives the kick force. His body's center of mass has only fallen a couple of inches, so the gravitational acceleration will be minor, next to nada. What does give the kick a hell of a lot of force is the rotational acceleration. Since his foot is the farthest thing from the center of rotation, or axis, it is moving the fastest. Know your physics.
User avatar #179 to #112 - mhden (03/23/2013) [-]
You should know your physics better .
A paper fan has no weigt and it spins like hell .. yet you can stop it easily .
If there is no weight in the spin , then there is no "force" .
Get your **** together Anon .
User avatar #39 to #32 - spacedock (03/23/2013) [-]
He falls on his shoulders, and by the looks of hit, hit the ground quite hard, had the person being kicked not fallen, he could have dropped with an elbow, or even a punch, using his weight, at least that's what I would have done in such a situation
But he seems to see the kick coming which is why he lowers himself into the kick, he could have easily defended, at least to a point where he wouldn't have been hit so badly, it makes me wonder how much training he's had in kick defence, or if it was simply a heat of the moment sort of thing
User avatar #47 to #39 - mhden (03/23/2013) [-]
By the way he defended he had probably got his **** together when defending kicks
and this was just bad luck on were the kick landed .

And lets makes this clear . No kick is "GOOD" unless you can use it outside of the ring .
Do that on cement or even worse somewere with small rocks .. and your shoulder will be ****** UP in the least ...
User avatar #133 to #47 - spacedock (03/23/2013) [-]
Yea, and you get someone who can take a hit, and isn't afraid to let their entire weight drop on top of you, and the kicker is ******

kyokushin full contact
#113 to #1 - anon (03/23/2013) [-]
If the opponent turns his/her head during the attack and it hits the back of their head then it's not the strikers fault, which this guy did, otherwise it'd hit him in the side of the head.

Yes, because in a real fight against someone who is resisting and doesn't know how to go with the technique, that would break his neck.

Most grappling techniques are practiced like this because in a real fight they'd **** someone up.

We wore cups that day.

did anyone yell "C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!"
#67 to #65 - tomthehippie (03/23/2013) [-]

One guy yelled nutbreaker as he tried to do this to our sensei.

Sensei was not amused. That guy ended up doing fifty press ups (push ups on the back of your hands, try it! Its fun!).
User avatar #71 to #67 - psykojet (03/23/2013) [-]

#74 to #73 - tomthehippie (03/23/2013) [-]

One or two isn't bad. Hell, ten aren't that bad.

Fifty of them suck. It is sensei's favorite punishment.
User avatar #75 to #74 - psykojet (03/23/2013) [-]
My least favorite wrestling punishment was weight drills. Good. ******* . God. I hate those. And now in high school we do that as a normal workout.
#76 to #75 - tomthehippie (03/23/2013) [-]
Ok, my least favorite punishment is being Sensei's toy.

AKA, the one he demonstrates technique on. Jesus that guy torques your limbs around. What is really sad is that he barely even tries and can pin any of us down and make us look like pussies.

One of the guys I practice with is a steel layer (names Ken), he's ******* huge (6'4", easily 250 of pure muscle) and sensei is your average older white guy (5'8", 160ish) and can throw around Ken like he's ******* nothing.

Sensei is scary... and I'm getting ready for my green belt (third belt from black) and after making green belt all knife practice is done with live blades... I just about **** myself with sensei coming at me with a ******* practice knife (soft rubber)...
User avatar #77 to #76 - psykojet (03/23/2013) [-]
Yeah, being Sensei's dummy must suck. Good luck getting your green belt.
#79 to #77 - tomthehippie (03/23/2013) [-]
I'm pretty confidant for the test... I'm just not looking forward to sensei coming at me with a knife in his hands.

We're a pretty psycho school, and during the last green belt grading Ken volunteered to "accept the knife", meaning that he was going to try knife defense technique for his grading, as extra credit.

So sensei grabs a hunting knife and comes after Ken... Ken froze part way through trying to move away, and sensei came within inches of slicing him open, the only reason he didn't slice Ken was that sensei froze as well.

All sensei had to say to Ken when he gave Ken his green belt was, "I should have cut you."

Just. Like. That. Like he was talking about the ******* weather.
User avatar #68 to #67 - mondprinzessin (03/23/2013) [-]

so no one said combo breaker?
#69 to #68 - tomthehippie (03/23/2013) [-]
No. Unfortunately, it would have been funny.

But then I might have laughed and ended up doing fifty press ups myself.
