The logic of programming.

If there is a method of action needed to unlock a certain area, then there are multiple ways of completing that method of action.
All technology is crack-able with enough power/time/effort

I think he is talking about the fact that a large part of the game is actually run from the EA servers and so to pirate SimCity you would need to have a server that can replicate the EA servers processing.

Offline mod got released on piratebay about 20 hours ago, it will only take a matter of days before a server emulator is made for authenticationing, wich also gives access to local save file storage. thats my thoughts anyway.

Are you mentally retarded? If you buy Sim City you don't even own your own save files! And you cant play single player without a internet connection or anything else (DRM)... And now on "the pirate bay" you can even get a fix so you can build outside the small areas you get to build on and a crack that gives you offline mode. Crackers can crack everything! End of story.

Ubisoft who are also famous for DRM release games such as Might and Magic : Heroes VI and Far Cry 3. Both were cracked, both were patched, both are playable for free. That should tell you that DRM is hardly a limitation.

I give SimCity a few weeks before it is also cracked and patched. I can assure you that as many people have already said to you, it is not a matter of how, it is a matter of when.

there are games people simply don't care to crack... hawx anyone?

simcity's drm isn't that unique or new... at least diablo did it "better" simcity doensn't even need internet to run and the save files can be rerouted the same way people do with uplay saves.

the blue pony user is right, every program is crackable.

a. I don't see how, modding a legit version is easy as balls.
b. I agree with this one. For some reason Australia is not allowed "Risen" and I really wanted to play it. So I had to pirate it as there was no way for me to legally obtain it.
(I don't even live in australia I have no idea why them not being allowed it prevents NZ from getting it... but whatever).
c. Not really sure what you mean here. If you're referring to the ME3 dlc then that just goes down to it being a ****** company.
d. I also agree here, especially with the whole Simcity controversy lately. I absolutely hate always online ********.
e. The people worked hard to make the game, they deserve compensation even if it wasn't what you were looking for. But I hate how refund policies work so that if you didn't enjoy it or what have you you generally can't return it. **** shops that do this.

In any case.
I don't pirate when I am able to buy a game legally, but **** them when they won't let me.
Same goes for TV shows that never get released here.

country restriction is not something EA can do. good example is that Germany prohibit any Nazi/SS logo so game like World of Tank remove and ban all nazi, SS logo in game.
And, Fallout remove/rename all weapon/bomb that is related to atomic bomb in Japanese version of game.

Aside from the country lock, piracy is still wrong. You can try to justify it any way you want it is what it is. People make a game hoping for some money and a following and then people like you who feel higher than everyone else where they don't have to pay go and pirate a game because you are a cheap ****. It is stealing. Don't try to ******* justify it. Games really aren't that expensive in core countries. I can understand in some of the other ones but for Americans and Canadians it isn't that expensive. Get a ******* job if you can't afford it.

A fair opinion, and one that I would agree with to a certain degree. Mod development for cracked versions of games has been around forever. Steam workshop is just getting started and most of the people who have been using them are those who just learned how to print "hello world". I believe the potential is there and as steam continues to offer software to help enhance game modification and building such as 3DMark, the reasons to use cracked versions of games for mods will be nullified.

The only contingency is that these games would have to be run through Steam. A lot of the older gamers would have a problem being restricted to use the software only Steam will approve.

I remember when i payed $40 for a 100 megabyte pixelated game.

People dont seem to understand that you cant do this anymore. technology has changed, and with technology, so has our games and our standards.

Music for example, hard as **** to pirate a record which you payed cheaper just to buy it. now we are in the digital age, where it only takes 3 clicks and 20 seconds to get 1 song downloaded off youtube.

you couldnt do that 7 years ago, where youtube was still down underground and the only music you could find for free was instrumental bit music. As a kid, i wanted to download the opening song of pokemon, but i had no idea how or where. Even ringtones costed money, looking back, we got ripped off a lot. Movies for example, i payed $15 for "shrek 2" back when i was 11, almost 6 years ago. Now i just download movies off piratebay for free... I mean i only watch them once, never do i watch the same movie twice.

So the problem isnt piracy, its the ease that technology has made available to us.

I got over 500 hours out of Pokémon. I got 7 hours out of Battlefield 3 (Campaign and Multiplay). I paid €5 for Pokémon and €65 for Battlefield. The technology is improving, so the companies should be using it to create better games.

to be honest, they are. the graphics on skyrim is amazing, but no one is playing it often because it has no multiplayer or a purpose of direction.

pokemon for example, i enjoyed the storyline and progression throughout the game. not too hard, not too easy. it was right at the fun level. I dont know what made that game so fun, i guess it was just my imagination as a kid.

but the only way for companies to make money now is to make multiplayer games, because you need to make an account in order to play online. Thats the only way to beat piracy.

I just hope the developers get over themselves soon. They'll never be able to "stop" piracy short of stopping the development of games. The best they can do is make a way for it to be beneficial to buy the game, as opposed to pirating it.
