At first I thought it was a perfectly timed clip of some Johnny Depp movie, then I realized this post was being serious

Im convinced this movie is very influenced by Hunter S Thompson, and im disappointed that there is almost no information around that. Anyone else got thoughts on that?

Ah, ok. i see.
The movie is quite trippy, so i would def recommend it. but if you aint much of a smoker you might enjoy it more without.
either way, its a good movie.

There's a "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" reference in the very beginning of the film.
#93 to #90 - normannj (03/06/2013) [-]
There is plenty of them. Johnny's behavior, The line '' oh, you want the old john hancock, do you? '' and the best one when they are riding the wagon and they get attacked by bats. The whole movie reeks of Fear and loathing and Thompson. I might sound negative, but i really like the movie. its fantastic. But i just think that Hunter should have been honored in the movie a bit more.
#99 to #93 - captainwow (03/06/2013) [-]
I meant a literal reference. Combine that with everything you mentioned, I think they honored him plenty.
#101 to #99 - normannj (03/06/2013) [-]
my point is that, you only know whats so funny about that part if you know Fear and loathing beforehand. There is nothing in the film that can point people in the direction of Fear and loathing and Hunter. When they gather so much inspiration from him they should mention him :)
But i might be wrong.

Yes, thank you for your contribution; we now all know that 'that is how it became'. I wouldn't have gathered that from the content.

I loved Rango. It got a little weird in the third act of the movie but I loved Rattlesnake Jake and the cameo of Clint Eastwood

What's the point of filming like this >_>
Couldn't it be like any pixar movie
User avatar #64 to #58 - zenkon (03/06/2013) [-]
That scene is just an example, most of the cgi movies are animated with actors, not the famous who make the voice, another actor who make the poses, movements and things like that, this make the process to animate the model a lot easier but with pixar is different, they animate his movies in the classic way, making the animation from moving the parts of the body with mouse and keyboard, that's why in some movies or scenes you could see some movements rigid.

It gives me warm fuzzies to think about Depp putting in Rango for his kids to watch.
