it appears to me he is stick welding for those of you out ther the three common types are Tig,mig, stick
User avatar #37 to #28 - thatscrewedupkid ONLINE (03/04/2013) [-]
i forget, which one is wire feed?
User avatar #42 to #37 - smokekusheveryday ONLINE (03/05/2013) [-]
mig is wire feed. flux core is no gas, alumiinu or stainless is gas, tig is gas for aluminum i cant remember what gas it was but my brain wants to type argon....... stupid damn thing and stick is gassless as the coating protects the weld from the air which would make the weld porous
User avatar #43 to #42 - thatscrewedupkid ONLINE (03/05/2013) [-]
thank you, been forever since i welded
#39 to #37 - beerformyhorses (03/04/2013) [-]
Mig and flux core use wire, flux core is identical to mig except no gas is used

MIG welding I assume.
#15 to #12 - anon (03/04/2013) [-]
honestly it looks like an arc air carbon rod.. :s (which is extemely odd)

i can say its likely not flux OR hard wire (2 most common mig)
#24 to #12 - anon (03/04/2013) [-]
This is arc welding, which is oddly termed imo because all welding may involve arcs of electricity, it is also more commonly known as stick welding. "Stick" being the part melting into the weld, the gas is necessary in order to prevent impurities from getting inside of the actual weld. MIG welding, while I do not know the acronym per se, refers to a machine which shoots a wire out of a "gun" hence the G in MIG I believe. The wire melts and should actually be touching the surface while melting, not dripping into a weld, hence one could assume it is not MIG welding.

Mechanical Inert Gas.

Technically mig welding is actually GMAW
Gas Metal Arc Welding.

It looks like MMA welding to me beacuse the gas is coming from the end of it not from around it, it could be flux core welding.
User avatar #30 to #23 - JohnTheRipper (03/04/2013) [-]
its feeding at such a steady pace, though. that's why I thought it was MIG.

this is awesome but that joke is killing puppies all over the place

Soldering I think, welding doesn't involve the soldering wire, I might be wrong though.
