In fact it was the worst horror movie in horror movie history... I would have enjoyed it more if they categorised it under a different genre.

Interesting plot, but not a horror movie.

the cabin in the woods. that scene was the most horrifying thing I have ever experiened, and now it's ruined for all the people who have yet to watch it...shame. i mean it doesn't look scary as a gif, but when you're watching the movie, it's more scary in context

It's a satire.
It's not supposed to be scary.

no. well kind of. the first half was supposed to be satire. it also was scary though. the 2nd half was supposed to be scary, which it was. also the movie explained why the steretypical horror aspects exist in the first place

thank you, everyone thought it was so great because "oh it's making fun of cliche horror films" but it was terribly written, poorly concieved, and the actors were ****. As a fan of the horror genre (and someone who has seen quite a few films in that genre) It deserves nothing higher than a B-

I'm kind of ashamed to admit that i liked this movie.
It's not even a bit scary, the characters were just your normal average characters from any " horror " movie of this type, and there was just nothing new or interesting about them, and the story was just horrible and stupid. But for some reason i still liked the movie... I can't really even explain why i liked it...

I think that's what the point of the movie was, to be stereotypical. But they changed it a little do to the fact that it was other people that decided their own fates.

The characters were stereotypical "horror movie" characters because those crazy scientists gave them some drugs 'n **** to make them that way for the sacrifice to satan

that was the point...the first half was SUPPOSED to be like that. they were pretty much explaining WHY there was scary movie stereo types. because ****SPOILER****** that god dude needed 1 of each of those stereotypes. it seemed like they were saying all horror movies were actually real

The characters being average and uninteresting was done by the staff. They controlled them, remember how they said they didn't act how they usually were? They were drugged and controlled by the facility people, but the druggie was immune because he was a druggie.

Then the genericness was all explained, why it was so like everything else, that was the point, the ancient gods apparently love them some ******* generic run of the mill ********.

I was expecting it to all be filmed, like they were making horror movies, but the **** wasn't fake.

But no, the someone else watching was just an ancient god that requires a sacrifice or else it destroys the world. Thats better.

It was making fun of all the stupid teen horror films BUT its giving a reason as to how it all happens, giving us more of an insight of why they need to kill them all off in the way they usually do it: one by one. They show that depending on what item they chose would chose their way of dying. They chose some book or some **** and it brought hillbilly zombies. Instead of them all dying, one survived and he saved the virgin, they chose to live a few minutes longer rather than feeding the demons that would inevitably kill everyone, including them, if they did not get proper sacrifices. This scene, they let out all the things that could have killed them to kill the people who arrange the sacrificing. They stayed alive for a few more minutes and kill everyone.. I think. *Spoilers* I guess.
So... Yeah.

The one who the sacrifices were for was a god/the god, if i remember correctly.
I guess I'm just being a bit harsh on the movie. I've watched over 2500 movies in the past 2 years, so I've turned in to a bit of a critic. No life, no friends, no job, and i never leave home. Too much free time on my hands:D

The movie actually had some new elements like the camera guys and the company and the
ending. You just don't think about it very much (or I have seen way too few movies).

It isn't a horror, and not made directly as a parody either.
It uses the same old setting and the typical characters, but a different mood.
It is like a new sub-category of movies. So the movie seems familiar and strange at the same time, and thus making it enjoyable.

I have no idea if that makes sense. I'm just postponing going to bed.

You might be on to something here.
This actually makes a whole lot of sense.
Not sure if the people who made the movie wanted it to be like that, or if it turned out like this by accident, but the way you explained it just sounds like a perfect description for the movie.

And trust me, you aren't the only one postponing sleeping. It's already 3:05am here...

I don't know why you'd be ashamed. It broke genre. It wasn't a typical comedy and it wasn't a typical horror, and it wasn't the inevitable ******** a mixture of both usually is. I thought it was awesome.
