I know the feel bro, from the way I saw it struggling it made me feel like it was an actual animal. I began to get feelings for it. It makes me sad just watching struggle in this gif.

Before I even scroll down, I know there's going to be a bunch of faggots thinking Led was a misspell.

To be fair, it is an understandable mistake. When "LED" (Light Emitting Diode) isn't capitalized it looks like the word "led", as in to lead, which is a synonym with the metal "lead." Since this is a science post, most people would think that the metal caused a chemical reaction rather than a tiny light bulb.

In reality, lead is pretty damn stable so something like what happen above is next to impossible to do with lead.
#121 to #104 - John Cena (02/23/2013) [-]
"To lead" and the metal "lead" are not synonyms. I believe the word you were looking for was homonym. There are quite a few mnemonic devices out there to help you remember the difference between the two. Here's an example: thepalmtoptiger is a raging homo for his failure to launch into the glorious Grammar Nazi master fag-race. Nym. See, simple yes?
User avatar #129 to #121 - thepalmtoptiger (02/23/2013) [-]
My bad, you're right, it's a homonym. Your mnemonic is kinda hard to remember though...

I was about to call you out on misspelling lead, then I realized that actually is an LED...
User avatar #6 - kandazz (02/23/2013) [-]
Is that the lead or the nitrogen that's burning green?
User avatar #7 to #6 - bigbonew ONLINE (02/23/2013) [-]
It's a LED. The diode is cooled down to 77Kelvin. So the electron bond structure and energygap is changed to a wider gap. Therefore the electrons emit to photons higher frequency, changing the emitted ligth spectrum from orange/red to green

LED stands for "Light Emitting Diode"
>a Light Emitting Diode
>an Light Emitting Diode
User avatar #143 to #135 - derpycheezenizle (02/23/2013) [-]
Usually when people read "LED". they pronounce it "ell ee dee", not what it actually stands for.
#80 to #7 - fractalius (02/23/2013) [-]
So uh, simply, is Nitrogen being dropped into lead? Or what?
#98 to #80 - John Cena (02/23/2013) [-]
It's an LED being dropped in nitrogen. No lead involved.

and I guess the bubbles is the Nitrogen vigorously evaporating due to the energy provided by the LED
