I really cant stand how seal team six is like a group of rockstars now. I'm glad that a such badass unit gets the recognition it deserve, but whenever any **** goes down anywhere its always" where was seal team six for this one?" what about the other seal teams? or the other badd ass spec ops units? like Green Berets or Rangers?
User avatar #158 to #119 - karson (02/03/2013) [-]
I kinda think that because the green berets, rangers, and especially Delta Force kinda do more secretive **** than the seal teams. There's like a PR special forces (seals) and then actual secret special forces (green berets and delta force). I'm not saying the seals are any less badass. just more public.
User avatar #147 to #119 - heartlessrobot (02/03/2013) [-]
Exactly. The Green Berets are THE elites. They are our greatest fighting force to date.
#194 to #147 - icescream (02/03/2013) [-]
You realize Green Berets are force multipliers right? Their Special Forces yes, but their the type that will go into a country train local freedom fighters or start one and train them in the ways of guerrilla/un-conventional warfare to fight the enemy. Delta SOF and SEAL Team Six are trained in Counter-Terrorism and things of such sort as hostage rescue and so on so forth. Each team has its specialty but they are all well rounded in every form of combat and operation capabilities.

Also Pic totally related cause 'MURICA.
User avatar #173 to #147 - Dairycow (02/03/2013) [-]
hah, did you seriously imply that the Green Berets are in any shape way or form better trained then the U.S. Navy SEAL's? Wow.
#192 to #173 - Rascal (02/03/2013) [-]
It takes 2 and a half years to become SF it takes 1 year to become a seal.
#196 to #192 - Rascal (02/03/2013) [-]
nope actually around the same amount of time, bud/s is 6 months, SQT is 6 months, and then there is an 18 month pre-deployment training

DERGRU, known by the media as Seal Team Six, is a tier above the actual SEAL teams, and they've been screwed over by all of the media attention. The reason we don't hear about the Rangers, Special Forces, Recon, Seal Teams, or DEVGRU that much is because it would put them in harms way and could screw things up. The only time we really hear about them is when there is a huge successful raid, some controversial things, or a massive amount of deaths, such as when the Chinook crashed a year or two ago and the Battle of Takur Ghar.
User avatar #121 to #119 - tonicwater ONLINE (02/03/2013) [-]
This movie wasn't even about SEAL team 6. Those are regular SEALs
#123 to #121 - harryblazer (02/03/2013) [-]
I know that, and its not as bad as right when they killed bin laden, but when zero dark thirty came out it started anouther big phase of seal team 6 fever. Im glad that it brings attention to the group, but when people like that asshole who wrote the book about the raid trys to get famous about it, it pisses me off.
User avatar #163 to #123 - chism (02/03/2013) [-]
he didn't write it to famous. for one nobody knows who he is. he wrote it because the press wasn't reporting the actual story right and he wanted people to know what really happened and what these people go through in their life. like how most are in the squad for 10+ years and still try and have families. every body that he wrote about in the squad was to remain anonymous for their safety, also he wrote about they work a lot with the rangers and how they were only lukey enough to be in the right place at the right time to get selected for the mission. It's a pretty good book, u should read it, it might give u a better perspective on DERGRU

Do you want a military movie that isnt just a michael bay explosion-fest, but full of tension and realistic, yet still awesome, navy seal ops? if so, then yes, this movie is orgasmic.

i will admit the acting was bad, but they were real navy seals so you cant expect them to be amazing at acting. Fun Fact, it took longer to film the movie than expected due the the fact the actors(navy seals) got orders to deploy.
