I don't know what to believe anymore...I can't live in a world filled with false images....I just can't....

On second thought, I still want to see the next star wars trilogy, so I'll stick around awhile longer.

If you look at the shadow you can see that the one on the right is correct.

nope

look at the one on the right then look at the middle one

NOW

look at the one on the left then look at the one in the middle

its an optical illusion

But if you look at the shadow of her foot you can tell that she really rotates counterclockwise, despite the illusion.

cover the left ballerina with your hand, close your eyes, keep your hand there, then look. do the same with the one on the right. look at there shadows as you do it. the shadow are not different. its a trick ok there is no right one, they all spin and depending on which one you look at they spin the same.

The shadows aren't different, but when you look at it, you can tell when she's facing away, thus letting you see which way she's really turning.

I'm not following your logic, and again it's an illusion there is no right answer.

While the figure doesn't portray depth properly because it's monochrome and seen head-on, the shadow is cast at an angle so you can use the feet to determine the depth of the animation. When something is deeper into the picture, the shadow wil be cast deeper too and thus be shown further up. So as the shadow rises and lowers, you can tell if her feet are moving in or out depth-wise, and thus determine which way she's turning.
