This is OC, but I posted it in a comment yesterday which disappeared quite fast, so I thought I'd give it another chance. Basically, I'm reposting, so OP is definitely a fag.

Btw, whatever you do, don't look at the tags.

it's more like origin doing that. I can't believe how stupid EA/Origin is by not leading battlefield 3 be on steam they could make more money then they are now.

I dont know why people refuse to buy a game because of origin? Doesnt cost you anything to use it

**naroshida rolled a random image posted in comment #228296 at Friendly ** Yes... They are ******* amazing, be as I've played the series, and opposing force, blue shift, and Lost coast multiple times. By them on steam (even better if on sale, or just get valve complete pack for $99 if you don't have most the games)

On some review websites Half Life 2 got an 11 out of 10.

Half-Life has been a game series that's usually been about being completely eye opening and innovative for the time it came out.
Take Half-Life 2 for example; if you played it now, it might not seem like a big deal because most games have taken the idea over and over again, so likely you'd be callous.
But Half-Life 2 was innovative because it brought all of the stuff FPS games use now, in 2004. The Physics, the graphics, the laser guided rockets, this was something a lot of games didn't seem likely to be capable of, and then Valve delivered.
Even today the source engine is still used to make innovative mods, which have mods in themselves, a good example being Garry's Mod.

I disagree with you there, if the FPS genre was heavily influenced by Half Life 2, then the FPS genre wouldn't suck. hl2 is faster paced, and more interactive, with the physics engine being a major part of gameplay, and it encourages you to use all of your weapons (none of which feel the same). Hell, I'd like to see your average CoD player hit something with the scoped crossbow.
User avatar #87 to #67 - akkere (01/24/2013) [-]
I didn't mean to say all of the elements of HL were taken; some of them game developers leave out for one reason or another, like the interaction, simply because just having a shooter where you just shoot things is easy to sell.
But HL2's physics was pretty goddamn innovative for 2004. You had some marvelous graphics, you had breakable objects, hell, you had goddamn object manipulation i.e. the GravGun. You could pick up a can, or a glass bottle, and throw it. Just, throw it.
What I was saying is that the primary stuff in HL2 like the physics and graphics was stuff that didn't even get popular with most games until 2007/08 and beyond.
