I was band in highschool. For concerts we had to wear tuxedos. Well, I thought I looked quite good in that tux, I thought I looked like James bond. So, similar to that animal and Mary Poppins, I was going around telling people "I'm ******* James Bond", not realizing what I was saying.

not to be a downer but the mistreatment and domestic ownership of the slow lorris is a serious problem and the animals often go through a lot of suffering from being kept in normal environments that are supposedly 'right'.
i do agree that they are freakin' adorable however.
#31 to #17 - laxitup (01/10/2013) [-]
Because he looks so terrified and unhappy right. Do you think it is okay for people to keep dogs as pets. They were once wild animals, but after generations of taming they have become docile and it has been deemed okay for everyone to have one. Either nothing should be kept as a pet, or everything should be able to be kept as a pet.
#40 to #31 - fmalchemistt (01/10/2013) [-]
You're retarded. The only way people can get their hands on a slow loris is via illegal poaching. Their bites are poisonous so the poachers remove their teeth. With WIRE CUTTERS. And NO anaesthesia. Much of the time the slow loris dies from infection just weeks after. Also, they're an endangered species, and that's more than enough of a reason to NOT have them as a pet. Domestic or not.

Stopped reading after "You're retarded," it is like starting a research paper with "Dude check this out."
User avatar #36 to #31 - bokkos (01/10/2013) [-]
Guess what: The slow loris is not a domestic animal. They have an incredibly high mortality rate in captivity, in addition to being known to have aggression issues. Sometimes their teeth are removed so they don't murder anyone. Also, they can mix a substance from their armpit glands with their saliva to spit a poisonous gunk all over the place.
So tell me: Do dogs suffer high mortality rate sin captivity? No. Do you remove a dogs teeth because of the danger it poses? No. Can a dog spit poisonous junk everywhere? No. So **** off Mr. Edgy, we don;t need your uneducated ******** here.
#62 to #36 - ichbinlecher (01/10/2013) [-]
Not to nitpick - but I am pretty sure that the mortality rate is equal in domestic and in the wild: 100%. Everything dies. What you actually want is how quickly it dies, average age of death, and cause of death in those situations in order to prove abuse.

That all said: the real problem is that it is poached. That makes it illegal to have. That is the end of this argument really, unless the grounds for legal hunting and capture is to be questioned, in which case figure that out before going at each other's throats over if you want to own the cute thing.
User avatar #67 to #62 - bokkos (01/10/2013) [-]
In regards to domestic animals, mortality rate denotes non-natural causes of death.
#43 to #36 - Rascal (01/10/2013) [-]
lol first sentence you said made it seem like an animal actually starts domesticated. and aggression can be bread out of a species, that's been proven by scientists over in Siberia that managed to breed foxes over there, 1 group that became docile and very non-aggressive, and the other that was bread to be very aggressive. interesting side note, their fur ended up changing colors based on their testosterone levels and ultimately their aggression levels. though i do say, if you want a pet, avoid one that can be Poison, or die in captivity.
#42 to #36 - laxitup (01/10/2013) [-]
Do you think dogs just randomly started off in the wild as our pets? No we domesticated them. There are many dogs that have "aggression issues." I can guarantee you that dogs have had their teeth removed before. About the poison, touche. But I can also guarantee that when dogs were first being domesticated many of them died
#44 to #42 - Rascal (01/10/2013) [-]
interestingly enough, bones from ancient man suggests that canine's weren't the first animal to have been domesticated by humans. instead it was the fox, prized for its hunting capabilities, though i have no idea where the article i read on it has gone.
#45 to #44 - laxitup (01/10/2013) [-]
Not really sure why that is important in this argument, but hey
User avatar #50 to #42 - bokkos (01/10/2013) [-]
The thing with dogs is that we domesticated them while we as a species were still wild. There was no such thing as captivity, we were all on the same boat. We lived in a more symbiotic relationship with wolves; We benefited from them and they benefited from us. Not to mention the natural pack tendency of wolves makes them ideal for domestication, like certain ungulates (e.g. cows) with herding habits. Many small primates are fiercely territorial on the individual level, making them very unsuitable for companionship.
I'm not saying they're not cute, and if they were domesticated I'd definitely want one, but as it stands they are better off wild.

Not to be a downer, but the reason he/she wants the ubrella is because they are extremely light sensitive and it is not good for their eyes to be under bright florescent light.

Too adorable. I must however say that this is kind of cruel. The slow loris is a mostly active during the night. His eyes are very sensitive to light, so I think this bright TL-light is making him unhappy and hurts its eyes.
