to anyone who has played it extensively. I loved Oblivion, and Skyrim, but was too young when this was new to enjoy it properly. I recently wanted to go back and reply, but quickly found that spears are not the best of choices for a new player. I also had NO idea where to go. I took a silt strider to the first town, and joined the fighters guild. Didn't get much further.

What weapons should I start with? (my friend told my hand-to-hand does stam damage, as I was trying it out, and spear is difficult due to the thrust).

Where should I go first?

How do I know what quests to do and which routes to take to get to the desired end of the game?

Any other general tips?

Bro...take it from me...an elf....be a Dark Elf while playing oblivion...they have 75% Resist Fire and in Oblivion Daedra are one of the most prominent enemies, so it is a huge help...the same goes for planned vampires, as a Dark Elf's 75% fire resistance cancels out even the largest Weakness to Fire that full vampires have....they get +10 Blade and Destruction which can allow you to be a well balanced character in combat as well as spells...+5 Athletics, Blunt, Light Armor, Marksman, and Mysticism which is great for assassins or spellblades...and as a dark elf you get +10 Speed so you can move quick and with the athletics you can be a pretty deadly force to **** with...plus we look bad ass

The best start off that i know of would be a wood elf, sign of the lover/steed (which ever gives you marksman boost), and making him completely marksman right off the bat you can start with 65-75 marksman so I primarily stuck to archery

You can grab a Sword of White Woe from the first town with the Bone Armor guards (can't remember the name). Uhh, not sure about everything else, its been a while but I know that you can kill an orc named Umbra outside of Surdan (or something like that) with ranged weapons at low level an get his sword which is good enough to carry you throughout the game. Mostly just hit Daedric ruins, thats where all the really good gear is.

the town with the sword of white woe is balmora, which is also where you go to really start the main quest. Also if youre a spellcaster, follow the river south of balmora for a long time. When it comes to a big opening head left for a bit, youll see a sunken ship. go past it for a bit more and youll see a tomb on the coast. Go in tomb, clear it, and at the very end in a urn is an AMAZING ring that does constant 10 to willpower and 10 to intellegence.

Now if you wana win the game, the best ring ever is on the northernmost island on the western edge. In a huge dome tome thingy. Go in it, and it will be in the door on your right (lock pick if you can). If you can't go down the stairs and there will be a chest underwater that you can open and it will have the key, then go back to the first door i told you about. The ring absorbs around 400 health from anything if i remember, so you can do a TON of damage and keep yourself alive forever basically. The only problem is... its on a powerful skeleton that will use the ring against you and his staff also has paralisys (sp) on it. If you can get this ring, you can even kill vivec the god.

God i played this game too much

Yeah it's been a while since I played Morrowind. Ever since my old first-gen Xbox died a few years back (rest in peace) I've forgotten about Morrowind. No other elder scrolls can compare though Oblivion came close.

i'm with ya, morrowind was by far my favorite. Only thing it needed was more fast travel options.

oh and one more thing, anyone have any mods that I should add for this? Only a handful preferably as I don't want to spend hours configuring mods and setting them up.

there is a graphics overhaul mod for Morrowind, if you have the computer to run it.
