Cats stop moving when they feel that 'grasping' sensation on the back of their neck. It develops when they're kittens so that their mother can carry them around without dropping them because they're struggling, but the behavior extends into adulthood as well. Male cats actually use this when they're mating with the female to stop them from running, because mating is apparently painful for cats. The only reason I know all this is because my dad's a veterinarian. Gif semi-related.

I tried to do this with my cat but it won't unfreeze. Should I try restarting it? Please, I don't want to have to get another one :(

In case you are wondering why this happens, it is because the clip on the neck reminds the cat of when their mother used to lift them and carry them by lightly gripping their neck in their teeth. The young kitten learned quickly not to move when this happens, and this carries over into adulthood.

If I even dared to attempt this on my cat he would know before i even was in the same room. He would demand backup from the mother ship to prevent me from disabling main cores and processing units located in the neck. He would rise. Evolve. Learn. KILL.

In case anyone was wondering, the reason that happens is because the clip mimmics the mother bitting the back of the neck. The mother only did that when that cat was a kitten because it had a hard time walking. The reason it freezes is so the teeth don't hurt.
