It seems as though this guys deserves it, since he had that many cops chasing him. Even if he just drove off because he didn't want a speeding ticket, he still deserves to get the **** kicked out of him for being a ******* piece of **** .

responding mindless violence with more mindless violence will kill us all

You can't justify the beating of a seemingly unconscious suspect.
#558 to #557 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
It can't be justified? What if he murdered your family or raped and killed your child? Then I'm sure you'd think that he deserves a lot more than that. Although I know that you're going to say that I'm wrong still, but you would agree with me if that were the case.
User avatar #562 to #558 - Grubinhymer (11/19/2012) [-]
That's not how the law works. Officers have the right to defend themselves but this was unjustified. Their "Power trip" got the best of them. Besides only the State has the right to invoke justice.
#565 to #562 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
Oh, Im aware it can't quite be lawfully justified. I thought you were saying that no one ever deserves to have the **** kicked out of them.
#578 to #565 - aliksander (11/19/2012) [-]
The fact is we don't know what this man is or is not guilty of. Regardless, even if he DOES deserve an a**-whopping, it is not the prerogative of the officers to deliver 'justice', the courts are supposed to do this. Even if this man is suspected of murder they have no right to do what they did.

I think he hit or tried to hit an officer with his vehicle, he was charged with manslaughter or attempted murder. i forgot it was on the news. check it on youtube.
#581 to #578 - anon (11/19/2012) [-]
He ran over one of their fellow officers.
#583 to #581 - aliksander (11/19/2012) [-]
The he should tried for assault with a deadly weapon/manslaughter (depending on whether the officer lived or not). Again, the courts have the responsibility to try, convict and sentence, NOT the police officers.
#588 to #583 - Nickutodeath (11/19/2012) [-]
Well of course, it doesn't justify what they had done, but they were pissed, and they did what any normal human being would do when they're pissed, they'd attack you. That was a friend of theres and that driver put his life on the line, of course they're going to hit him.
#597 to #588 - aliksander (11/19/2012) [-]
No, see, that's the point of being a police officer, your job does not ALLOW you (or actually SHOULDN'T allow you) to act on your own personal feelings in such a manner. If they can't control themselves in such a situation they need to leave the force.

Think of it this way, let's say a Doctor knows his neighbor ran his wife over and is currently suing him. The doctor then has to operate on his neighbor due to an accident and instead of waiting for the courts to punish the man he decided to physically harm his neighbor during the operation complicating his recuperation. possibly even permanently harming him. Do you think that what the doctor did was right in that scenario, or is it his job AS A DOCTOR to treat his patients properly regardless of his personal feelings? Yes, we may UNDERSTAND WHY he did it, but that doesn't make it right.
#599 to #597 - Nickutodeath (11/19/2012) [-]
I just said it never justified what they did, so you're trying to argue that it's wrong when I just said it's wrong.
#603 to #599 - aliksander (11/19/2012) [-]
I understand that, so then you agree that those officers should also be tried for assault and possibly get suspended/fired for what they did, regardless of the fact that we can empathize with their obvious rage?
#608 to #603 - Nickutodeath (11/19/2012) [-]
Yes I do, they should know the consequences of what they did, but I'm sure I would have done the same thing for my friend/partner.
#610 to #608 - aliksander (11/19/2012) [-]
BTW, Did we just break the internet?
#611 to #610 - Nickutodeath (11/19/2012) [-]
Maybe we did. What have we done?!!?!
#609 to #608 - aliksander (11/19/2012) [-]
OK then, I guess we are in agreement.... Good talk!!!
User avatar #595 to #588 - doodogger (11/19/2012) [-]
I wouldn't attack someone unless they deserved it, regardless on whether I am pissed or not.
#596 to #595 - Nickutodeath (11/19/2012) [-]
Ok, well think if that person just ran over your friend and tried to kill him, does he deserve it now?
User avatar #601 to #596 - doodogger (11/19/2012) [-]
If I saw him run over a friend of mine, I'd beat him, and I'd know that I'd get in trouble and I'd feel that he deserves it, but we don't know what happened before hand, so no one can say that he deserves it.

Assault is a felony offense. The state is obligated to protect everyone, even the rapists and murders. So vigilante style beat-downs are never justified.
#575 to #574 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
Well it looks like we aren't going to agree on anything. So im not gonna try lol

You should learn to appreciate criminal rights. Who knows, you may accidentally find yourself on the wrong side of the law some day.
User avatar #549 to #533 - rattman (11/19/2012) [-]
There are five men punching him fairly hard, you can see his body moving from the punches. When the majority of the world thinks someone deserves that I think we're screwed.
#555 to #549 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
I think when the majority of the ******* world thinks that criminals should be treated with respect is when we're screwed. Its not like the cops just pulled him over compliantly, he was hauling ass with 5 ******* cops behind him. He obviously doesn't care about anyone elses life, so why do you care about his. I'm sure if he would have hit you while he was driving, he wouldn't ******* care. Minor offenses are one thing, but what he was doing is unforgivable.
User avatar #561 to #555 - rattman (11/19/2012) [-]
I live life thinking that if someone has done something wrong to you, you should try to be the better person and understand that they must have a bad life to go to such extreme things.
#564 to #561 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
Well that's one of the thought processes that causes so many problems. Treating criminal like they are the victims. "Oh I know you murdered 16 people, but thats ok because your mommy used to hit you." Maybe people just need to grow up and stop acting like the world owes them something.
User avatar #570 to #564 - rattman (11/19/2012) [-]
If you start pretending I said things I didn't I will just stop talking to you. I never said they're victims, I said that they need a TINY bit of sympathy. They need to be punished by having prison time, not being savagely beaten.
#571 to #570 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
I think it all depends on the crime.
User avatar #577 to #571 - rattman (11/19/2012) [-]
So what crimes deserve the brutal beating?
#585 to #577 - anon (11/19/2012) [-]
Rape and murder.
#580 to #577 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
Rape, Murder, Pedophilia, Drunk Driving, Endangering the lives of countless innocents. Etc. Nothing thats mild like, a parking violation.
User avatar #582 to #580 - rattman (11/19/2012) [-]
I can understand where you're coming from but I just don't agree so what do you say we stop before this turns into a mindless battle of repeating ourselves.
#586 to #582 - putridgrim (11/19/2012) [-]
Cool with me man lol
